I put a ticket with bitmaintech support and I wish to share it with you all.
My S3 was hashing low at 400 - 420. Long term average was 421.
Bitmaintech engineer told me to remove the heat sink, clean it with a cloth and apply thermal new paste.
They recommended to buy "Dow Coining thermal paste grease" for this purpose.
Which can be sourced from ebay or amazon.
If its not available at your location buy any good thermal grease which has conductivity above 3.
Also I asked then about warranty issues if that type of a hack ws done, and they assured me that no warranty will be void for doing it.

What is the temperature of your miner?
Also do you have the links to the thermal paste ?

Yes "warranty' have not much value in the mining hardware.
41 - 42 was my temperature peaks at stock clocks.
I don't have any link to the thermal grease for now.
I'm searching for it to buy the same brand or the alternative one having >3 conductivity.
But most of the products I'm seeing is of conductivity 1.
I will post here the link if I find it or some else who has experience in doing this will support here.

Does anyone have an idea what can lead to this hashrate?

All chips seem to be fine. It is powered by a 1600W PSU (all 4 PCIe Cables connected), but it is only ~half of the promised hashrate.
Latest firmware is also installed...
Kind regards

Hi,
Please PM us your order ID and email box, and we will guide you to test hash boards separately, to find out the issue was caused by control card or hash board.
Then to the next step of RMA flow.
Our apologies for the inconvenience, we will try our best to reply emails and offer tech support ASAP.

Interesting my miners are all running in the same temperature range like yours and I have similar performance to yours maybe this will help me too.
Still though our temps are half of the max 80C but I guess its averaging the temp so maybe some things are hotter than others....

My miners run at those temperatures as well, if not more, and I haven't been having low hashrate issues. In fact they both are performing at low 500s. I don't think the temperature is a symptom at all.

Got my 2 S3's (Batch 3) up and running and they are giving me a solid 440Gh each.

At stock frequencies with 1 power plug to each blade, I am seeing 14A+/- through the power connector. I am powering 2 units with 1 Bronze 850W Antec PS, and it is using 730W at the wall.

I will play with overclocking and post those results later.

Quick question relating to PSU...

Will I be able to get all 4 plugged in to OC the S3 using this? (I am nooby at this stuff, thx for help)

Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 552 Power Supply CX600M

Any help would be great. I ordered those. Just want to make sure it will work with OverClocking while I have a chance to change order.

since there are so many miners here and I want to buy ANTMINER S3 I'll post my question here. Is there a chart of multipool mining profitability in fiat over a long period of time (6-12months)? If not maybe you can tell me from your experience..

I want to know whether the current $1.6/100GH/day is somewhat stable and can be expected to stay that way the coming 6 months.
(I'm a newbie regarding mining, so with this miner I can use it for multipools right? Grin)

I'd take some serious time learning more about bitcoin before you invest a cent. The difficulty changes after every 2016 blocks.  Here is a list of the historical increases.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

In the last 6 months it has gone from ~3 million to ~19 million. SO NO WAY you will be making anything close to $1.6/100GH/day in 6 months.

thanks! I know about bitcoin difficulty and got burned already Grin
I'm asking about the other coins since multipools mine the most profitable, which ever coin it happens to be. But there is no "profitability" chart of multipools over such a period of time.
I have been mining at multipool.us for several months. I haven't kept detailed records but can tell you that it now spends >95% of the time mining bitcoin directly, not any of the other coins. The way the pool works ensures that any of the more profitable coins will be mined until they are approximately the same profitability as bitcoin, so it effectively destroys its own market. I imagine the other multipools will have roughly the same effect.

The only way to beat the multipools is to mine newer coins before they get added to the pools, which is a bit of a gamble and isn't a set-and-forget option which I think is what you are looking for.

ok thanks a lot to all of you guys, this answers my questions Smiley
I guess I'll wait a few more months till I have more time to pay attention and mine new coins and also where the difficulty starts to saturate more with ASICs reaching their limits then I can expect a slower profitability decline. when I was into mining a year and a bit ago, my calculations were also a 3 months ROI (for btc only) but a few months delay and btc skyrocketing right after and all my investments got burned. and it seems nothing has changed since and all the alts are keeping the same pace of 3 months ROI, unless of course I find the undervalued ones and mine those, but I'll need more free time on my hands.

No, it won't. You can expect the income (in BTC) to drop 20-30% every 10 days or so. Go and read up on 'difficulty'

Whats this 20-30% witchcraft?

I see the last diff jumps were 3% and 8%, Here's hoping they stay around that rate!!

Bitcoin Difficulty:    18,736,441,558
Estimated Next Difficulty:    19,526,251,935 (+4.22%)

realistically i expect to see 9-12% for the next 2 jumps - difficulty is slowing but i think the last two weeks were a nice low hop from variance and the massive 20% jump before that. another jump under 9% would be amazing though, and almost surely lock in a profit for mining
With the new results out from spondoolies, below is the updated Hardware comparison chart/document.

The link to the shared document.

NOTE: If network difficulty stays below 20% for the next two retargets then the document will be revised to 10% and 5% estimate results.
