Is ANTMINER S3 good ROI to invest on it now?

I think it is, it could break even in 4 months

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

7.7% refund posted to my account just now. Pending....

Transaction now complete!!

Mine still shows "Init".

Scratch that. I just checked my wallet, it has been sent. It is "unconfirmed" right now.

Refunds are sent from 13WHCm8DztmNGZ7XX1tbhUDss4WgRMVnrj.

Looks like the refunds went through.
Not enough compensation if you ask me, especially for the people who have units that don't even meet the "downgraded" specs.

I'll add my name to the "refund received" list.  Refund transaction received at 11:03am EDT.

Thanks Bitmain.  Now, would you please ship out the batch 4 units I ordered? Smiley

I'm surprised you got a response. I sent a message through their internal messaging system on the 26th and have not heard anything.
Two units that won't hash stable over 415.
Even offered to NAT two public ip addresses to the units so they could fiddle with them.

well I had sent them screenshots before, but via my iphone on the web GUI and the screenshot cuts off on the right where it says 'Discarded', so everything after that was cut off and they replied saying their engineer is asking for full screenshot as the side was cut off

so obviously their engineer wants to see something in one of the spots for either:  Stale, Diff, Diff1#, DiffA#, DiffR#, DiffS#, LSDiff, LSTime

this looks to be  bitmain's refund  address

https://blockchain.info/address/13WHCm8DztmNGZ7XX1tbhUDss4WgRMVnrj

it traces back to here

https://blockchain.info/address/1PT1ghErZ9hT7THuDHLbRCe587JLEgAvqh

that traces to this

https://blockchain.info/address/1JYvGobgRXKtjc9yxbVZ6QXJjJcmm3bQf3

to this

https://blockchain.info/address/18aRkjDJfaMbrV8CdaMWgAWhy1Pwg7jcLo

to this

to this

https://blockchain.info/address/169Qjhd84s5N5y8FvGY5RP53DA3M6RprNo

At this point it starts to really branch out a lot.   but it looks like a lot more then 100 btc was refunded.

the rough guess is 3000 to 3500  x 3 = 9000 to 10500 units sold in b1-b3 .   so that  more then   100 btc in refunds was to be expected.

as much as 600 btc  but many of us chose the coupons.

so far my S3 units resisted any fiddling. One can be accelerated to 237.5, but then one chip drops out (X). I am going to check the unit today and see if, perhaps, there is no or too little thermal paste there. If not, i will just leave it alone at 218.75/441Gh.

I just noticed my third unit hashing at 418 has an X, when i reboot it switches to " - " asic status.. resulting in my needed to do a hard power cycle from the PSU

in my experience, a hard boot from PSU on S3 sometimes leaves them in a strange lock (pools are all mixed up, etc, etc) and it takes a software boot or two to even them out.
However, if you ssh into it, you can issue the following:
Code:
poweroff -d 3
<enter/return>
exit to get out of ssh
and it will shutoff in 3sec (you can replace 3 with another number), with fans slowly decelerating over 20-30 sec
psu OFF-ON boot after that is benign and does now screw up anything

I have been waiting weeks for this info. Thanks!!!

So it costs $100 more that what two S1's use to cost for UPS customs/taxes and clearance at the door ($59) with CC in hand for UPS guy.

not as bad as I feared.

Our Late Batch 2s should be arriving today as well. Nothing but labels for B3 so far.

My B3 that were ordered on 7/11 arrived today. No less than 5 holds for customs review.

Needless to say, I am excited!!
