I
its through clearinghouse, which uses the viacoin blockchain. so clearinghouse will be the one with the large market cap 😊
Via is to Xch what Btc is to Xcp, and it's Btc with the higher cap by far though?
VIA/XCH are connected in 100%. IF VIA will go up so the same XCH.

This is interesting because surely zynga would create their own token assets within clearing house rather than using xch, and since you can create a pretty much unlimited amount of tokens from a small amount of xch and trade assets directly for via on the clearwallet exchange, why in this scenario is xch so valuable?

Also via would be used by any other platforms that are built upon the blockchain which cannot be said for xcp.

Think about it. If such a big company as Zynga will use XCH(even a small amount) to create their own tokens it will give a HUGE credit for a future of XCH.

Yep the game of Poker is usually played with Poker Chips or the Poker Chip so I suppose if there's already an asset "CHIP" been created that could add to the speculation  !
The guy from the screenshot wrote that they'd like to use Via though.

i don't see that in the screenshot, it just says using clearinghouse.  in any case viacoin miners would benefit from the transaction volume

i think you need to use a different img host

"within the clearinghouse platform" which means they would create some sort of asset(s) using the XCP fork.

There's a lot of discussion about how the Zynga poker application would work with VIA/XCH on this thread.  I figure I can give an educated opinion on the matter.  While this is my opinion, keep in mind it's very speculative as there is little information about what Zynga is doing other than a phone message screenshot and a prior post in the Counterparty thread.  However, given my background, I figure my opinion could help shed some light on the matter.

First, I played poker professionally from 2001 until 2010.  I had reasonable success in poker (won a WSOP bracelet, had my own character in a video game, and had a monthly column in a major poker publication).  Through almost a decade of playing full time, I gained a deep understanding of the mechanics of the game, casino motivations, and gambling in general.  Oddly enough, I quit playing poker professionally in 2010 to help start a social gaming company called Unveil Games (Initially funded by a handful of name poker pros).  We created a game called TrafficKing where we knocked off Farmville (a Zynga game), keeping the same game mechanics but essentially reskinning it so that it would be appealing to the male demographic on Facebook.  In the process, we closely studied all of Zynga's succesful games, in an effort to find the most effective viral loops.  The game we created was both incredibly comical and fun to play, but unfortunately Facebook changed some of their newsfeed policies which adversely affected small developers like ourselves.  We eventually shut the company down in 2012, which is around the time I found crypto.

As far as what I think Zynga's plans are, I'm suspecting that Zynga is going to be building a poker application where pot/hand settlement occurs on the VIA blockchain.  Unless my understanding of crypto is flawed, Viacoin is actually the only vehicle where I can see this happening.  On average online poker hands take about 1 min to play out.  Having hand/pot settlement on the Bitcoin blockchain just wouldn't be feasible given Bitcoin has 10 min confirmations (which is consistent with what was said in the screenshot about "the most key aspect being speed").  VIA on the otherhand has 24 second confirmations, which could work.  So a player would play out a poker hand within a Zynga client, and upon completion of the hand it is recorded on the blockchain and settlement occurs in about 24 seconds (likely before the completion of the next hand).

Also, in a post by TechGen in the Counterparty thread about a week ago, he/she mentions a big social gaming company plans to use VIA / XCH and that the company even planned to issue shares through platform as well.  I personally don't see this happening or if it does it will be a long time from now given the regulatory hurdles an event like this would present the company.  However what would be amazing is if Zynga managed some sort of rewards program through Zynga coins issued on Clearinghouse.  It's designed for something like that, allowing easy distributions back to players that hold Zynga chips based upon the overall revenue generation of the game.  Now that would be interesting.

Funny, given my background in gambling, social gaming and crypto (specifically with VIA and XCH), I should be reaching out to Zynga to try and help them in any way that I can to get this project off the ground.  And if it doesn't materialize, hell, I'm thinking I should try and get a team together and build it.

If "CHIP" is created on the Viacoin Clearinghouse protocol then he would be using Via least that's the way I understand it, every "CHIP" transaction would use Viacoin

I Think that would be much easier and cheaper for Company to create own asset like You said maybe "chip" than use directly VIA/XCH to play but anyway that would be HUGE PROMOTION for them and both are involved.

I can usually figure out what is going on, but I'm having a bit of trouble on this one.

I was looking to buy a few Via, then someone says that Via could be burned for Clearinghouse.

If I want to buy some Via, do I buy Clearinghouse instead or in addition?  Are they connected, not connected? Is Via staying as a currency and Clearinghouse emerging as a separate asset?

Call me stupid, dumb, thick, lazy, etc. I want to invest something, but you ain't making it easy.

Let's sum this up: Only TechGen, a guy who registered here some days ago, posted this information.

Sounds legit. Buy.

Not true.  VP of Zynga added BTCdrak on twitter today.  I was suspect of this too, until that occured.

You can buy Via at Bittrex, Cryptsy, BTER and Poloniex - Via is a currency like Bitcoin. You need Via to pay transactions fees at Clearinghouse.

XCH at Poloniex and BTER

"The ClearingHouse project enables decentralized, p2p trading directly on the blockchain. You can create your own coins and assets and it enables a host of features to be built on top of the blockchain.

ClearingHouse is based on on the counterparty protocol with the immediate advantages of being faster, cheaper and free of bitcoin politics.

XCH is the native currency of ClearingHouse and cannot be mined. 103MM XCH were initialized between block 89100 and block 251100. Converted viacoins will be used towards funding the ClearingHouse project."

Hey Coins101 nice to see you here on the VIA forums!

There is currently a rumor that Zynga may do an experimental spin-off of its very popular poker game using VIA coin and Clearinghouse. It's not clear exactly how they would use clearinghouse but as user "masternode" (yes I believe he is also a large investor in DRK and foundation board member) suggests Zynga might want to use the VIA blockchain for settlement and create an awards type asset on clearinghouse.

In any case if this rumor pans out it will be a HUGE vote of confidence for both VIAcoin and clearinghouse and should attract not only a lot of media attention and other investors, but also other companies who may not be happy using BTC/counterparty because it is too slow and/or expensive. The rising tide should lift both boats.

When I was looking to invest I took the simplest route and bought VIA - XCH was too thinly traded on limited markets, and I wanted to buy into the mothership not the currency of clearinghouse.

VIA is created by an awesome developer. In fact with the price drifting lower, the last few weeks reminded me of the early days of darkcoin around here. If this rumor pans out then I believe we are looking at a strong rally with sustained momentum, just like the old days of DRK. But of course this is all speculation at this point!

Edit: just checking coinmarketcap, I see that XCH traded only 18BTC volume last 24h while VIA traded about 180BTC worth. So if you want to scale in larger amounts, hard to do with XCH. On the other hand user masternode also makes an argument for XCH as an "investment" over on the XCH forums... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=734674.msg9390348#msg9390348

My ELI5 attempt to explain XCH value drivers:
===========================

Every XCH can be delimited to 100m parts (if i'm not mistaken)

If Zynga actually goes ahead and uses Viacoin/XCH as its Poker tokens, it can do so by:
1) use Viacoins - Zynga can simply use viacoins as their base currency... perhaps even use multi-sig addresses for each table.
2) use XCH - Zynga can use XCH as their base currency...

If Zynga decides to use XCH (which is very logic), it can use anywhere between a single 1XCH to 100m XCH as Zynga-Poker tokens. Hypothetically, Zynga can take a single 1XCH coin, denominate it to 100,000,000 parts, and these will serve as the tokens for its game. Each such token will hence enjoy/benefit a completely different value than that of other 'ordinary' XCH tokens that are not used and branded by Zynga's game. Alternatively, they can do it with say 50 million XCH coins, thus reducing the overall supply of XCH and driving up prices. Each such decision has a different impact on the value/price of 'ordinary' non-branded XCH coins.

My guess would be that they use a single of merely a few XCH for this purpose.

However, for the speculators that are concerned with the price of XCH or of Viacoin, i'd say this:
1) Viacoin - the price of Viacoin will be driven by demand for the currency as the means to buy the Zynga XCH token, AND as the fee payment required in each XCH transaction that is recorded on the Viacoin blockchain. to Conclude - Viacoin is a must.
2) XCH - the price of XCH coins will be driven by the amount of users in the ClearingHouse network (including the use of Clearwallet as its UI means).

In simple words, with many Zynga players using ClearingHouse (and other ventures / games following), I expect XCH's value to be driven by Metcalfe's law rather than just demand for tokens. In essence, it states that-
"the value of a telecommunications network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n2)"
