We have a new Community Manager http://blog.viacoin.org/2014/10/16/community-manager.html
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Hey everyone! You're all hoping this becomes the next btc. Hell, even ltc would probably make you happy.

And a lot of alts have the tech end pretty solid. They have good devs, improved confirmation times, unique features being built on the blockchain. But a lot of alt enthusiasts aren't devs. They're passionate about the tech, but would have no idea what to do with the code.

But you can still be a huge part of making a coin succeed. The community is almost single-handedly what made doge have the run it did.

I want this coin to succeed. Not only because I hold a lot of them, but because it's better, right? That's why you're even in this thread. Because you think it's better.

I believe in the tech, the innovations with Clearinghouse that are already developed as well as those yet to come, and the potential a cryptocurrency like this can bring to a lot of everyday processes that we've come to accept as inefficient, but necessary facts of life (Hi, notaries).

So instead of waiting for the next blog post from btcdrak or update from Peter Todd, I'm asking you, yes, you for help.

If you have time, even if just an hour or two per week free, that you would like to volunteer towards helping the adoption of viacoin/XCH, PM me and let me know what skills you can bring to the project, or if you just want to be a part of brainstorming the plans for getting this coin adopted.

Look forward to hearing from you!

I'm not. Drak may be able to add insight to that. I'm on the everything-but-dev side of things Smiley

A good chance to promote Viacoin, too.

@erikoehler  Happy to see you taking initiative - you can expect warm support from the Viacoin community on all your projects Smiley

@Moolah.lol  You seem to think that only external catalysts affect Viacoin's price, but you are missing 3 MAJOR elephant variables in the room that also affect its price, and since you're so confident "it will never surpass 7k sat again", there's really no reason for me to convince you otherwise, Moolah.lol.lol Smiley

What about this? Seems like a great project. Is it viable for Via? Can we overtake Litecoin, Syscoin and other scrypt coins?

wow. viacoin is 3-month old, devs delivering again and again, yet price goes down... and a moola guy educating the community with "non-fad" fad...
and i must say that have a real Déjà vu...
like the matrix. i've seen this before...

It was the same weird situation of development on one side, and fad+price going down on the other side, and it was called Darkcoin.
\
Darkcoin was launched in late January or early February. Dev  delivered progress like clockwork, but price - well, depressed is an understatement.
coins got stolen on c-cex, dumped on poloniex, then a fork... you name it.
Until one day, several months forward, about April, it started to move up, and rise, and rise... and then skyrocket.
From a negligible alt, people started seeing it as a contender to Litecoin.

I've been there before. It looks the same. Feels the same.
my 2cents - short-term price does not reflect progress. It reflects impatience.
Stick to your guns...

Todd's presentation on tree chains and bitmessage at Inside Bitcoins this Sunday-Monday could be a nice catalyst for Viacoin.

Great share, I couldn't agree with you more as someone who saw this scenario play out first hand. I remember watching the Darkcoin developments very closely and even had a chance to speak with Duffield once before when writing for a crypto news source. Create awareness, ignore the price: the latter will follow. Viacoin's technology will only garner further awareness as the possibilities through blockchain technology are brought to light.

We dont need mass adoption to make VIA price double or even triple...look at Counterparty pump due to Overstock announcement.
You can throw out developments constantly, but Viacoin's price wont budge. The hype phase has passed. Whales who actually took advantage of the hype have already taken profits and gone. Im not holding btcdrak to anything as something like this is completely out of his hands. But on a side note, I do want to praise his hard work and dedication as well as the rest of the Viacoin dev team.

The market is always right... and the market does not like VIA right now...
Because the market does not care about esoterics like tree chains or opcodes.

Every thread for every "quality" coin that's gone into a death spiral has looked like this one...
"We got great devs and a great community, nothing to worry about".... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Ya man, except you are competing with at least 50 quality coins and platforms...
See VTC and MYR charts for deja vu, baby...
