The inverters shut down if power goes out. Im not using any battery backup. The solar only offsets a fraction of my overall power usage, never makes it onto grid.

Thank you!   That seems like it would cut down on costs as that is a good amount of batteries.   I still wonder the price of it.

I have never seen numbers that allowed me to justify it in past.  But I would love for someone to show some numbers that make solar or wind with ROI that is not horribly long.

I'm guessing you did the ROI math for the solar factoring in other uses at your home, because otherwise I fail to see how spending thousands of dollars in solar equipment is a good "investment".  Don't get me wrong, I think it's really cool, but the finances rarely make sense to me.

Thank you for sharing price.   Gives me kinda a estimate.   Sadly I cannot justify it with my electricity.   Just will take too long for me to ROI on it.    I can see long term though it would be very nice to have but longer term then I want currently on investments.

Over lifetime of house if you used that as scale I'm sure it will pay off sometime, and then you would have a great setup.  Just seems to take a while compared to cheap electricity.

I really didn't do the ROI math, I was thinking at least I could sell excess production at $.09/kW if mining didn't work. At current hardware price and ever increasing difficulty, it is kind of impossible to ROI even with free electricity, but everybody still wants to mine, right!

I have been adding panels and inverters to my solar setup for years now. It's a pretty low budget setup. That's why I have many smaller grid tie inverters versus one larger one. Usually I buy a few panels at a time and wire them up.

Everything was purchased with the ROI from a couple dozen ztex and other fpga boards that I ran years ago, including current mining gear.

IIUC, that means you should get ~7kw*12h = 84kwh/day (~$8), and it will take roughly 2000 days, or 6-7yrs, to pay back the system cost assuming no surprises

as i understand, thats not too bad since solar insallations are typically advertised as around 10yrs to break even, at which point you might need to install $4000 of new panels to keep running another 10+yrs

I adjusted the math. you need to find your sun hour zone to calculate annual average daily sun hours. I am in Florida and receive just over 4.5 hours on average.

~7kw*( average daily sun hours) = X kwh/day (~$ Z)

~4.5kW (4.5h) = 20.25kWh/day

At current difficulty and my averaged mining efficiency of .33W/GH, 1kW will run ~ 3Th of gear and will result in ~$.25 in BTC being generated per hour. So my solar setup, on average and at current BTC price and difficulty, earns 20.25kWh($.25) =  ~$5/day.

That's why I never have been able to justify it.  It's a long term investment.  If you look at mortgage 6-7 years on a house to ROI is not horrible compared to many loan duration for a house.

But as far as bitcoin 10 year ROI point just does not fit well.  So kinda 2 different investments.  If it's all still working down the road in 10 years he will be very happy getting free electricity from the sun.

That was one of the reason for going solar also, the system will generate enough power to cover my daily household usage and some excess. Hoping that it would allow me to run some gears at zero or very low electricity cost, now if Bitmain only shipped my Batch 1 S7 orders. Planning to post some pictures once I get the miners

Today we had our scheduled 3 month cleaning activity. Since we recently installed a high power pump on our cooling system, we decided to clean our dirty girls with horse-grade shampoo and industrial compressed air (life on the farm is very dirty).

That's a lot of dust in your mining farm, that can be cleaned within a day or less, may i know how many rigs do you have.
What is the total of the hashrate, i just checked your website and checked the contracts plans but not so much information.

Our city is nestled in a river valley of the nostalgic and rustic Moldavian hills. As such, it's very dusty during some times of the year. We have around 40 miners currently.
The total and allocated hashrate stats will be visible once we sell a minimum of contracts (otherwise it would show an unflattering small percentage).

Looks to me like foam insulation, I would guess a good thermal insulator as well as static insulator from the concrete floor. Am I right?
