Yeah, but if noise is problem, those blowers are not an option.

Vertically mounted blower fans. I've been saying for a while this would be the absolute ideal fan-direction orientation. BTW, I don't know how you'd do this and still mount them like you have, but when we took the PCI brackets off of our 290s, there was a significant temp decrease. It was about a 8C drop on our hottest card. You could hear and feel more air move out the back. I got a picture here: What kinda settings do you use for 875? The best I could get was 850. And what's this about undervolting? Please link the thread? Thanks! And kudos to the awesome rig! Nice rigs both of ya, 6 x r9 290 is a beast rig lol

Curious about your power setup: 1. Do you have the two PSU's on different breakers/fuse circuits? Same phase? They can't be on the same 15 or 20amp circuit can they? 2. You said you have three GPUs per PSU but risers on only one? Shouldn't you be matching the 3 GPUs with same 3 connected risers to each PSU? Ideally the risers and boards should each be on the same rail of each PSU or it could cause some issues for any board that would end up being connected to two different rails or worse two separate PSUs. Assuming you don't have it setup this way, are your pigtails on the risers getting warm?

Countries with 230/240 V @ 50 Hz mains typically accommodate 2400 watts per wall outlet (10 A).

Lol.. GPUs.. *chuckles reminiscently*
I think it is hilarious how some people look "down" upon GPU mining. Good luck with your ASIC doing Scrypt mining... /lol, *chuckles reminiscently* Litecoin mining is very profitable right now.. and you can be in the game without spending a ton of coin on ASIC rigs that have their value cut in half in 15 days time.

While your ASICs are basically a pile of toxic junk after a few months, after difficulty has risen enough to make them unprofitable...

Thinking about adding graphics cards to these machines... Can't really decide.
Aren't they too short? Or do you know of a good low profile one?

I have my dual PSU setup just like his. For my 5x 280x setup, one PSU powers 3 cards, and the other PSU powers 2 cards, the MB, the HDD, and all 5 risers. Never had an issue. Someone else was talking about how you can't do it cuz if they cross, you somehow get 24V running through your card? Or MB? I don't remember, but that's BS. 12V is 12V, and the PSUs aren't being run in series in any way. Someone else was talking about how they can get out of "phase" or "sync", but since ours are running off the same breaker, and are the same brand/make/model, there's no way they could unless one of the PSUs just shits the bed. TL;DR There's no issue.

since GPU mining for scrypt coins isn't bitcoin, aren't posts here about it in the wrong place? shouldn't they be posted in the altcoins section? So of course GPU mining is looked down on. it is either unprofitable or being talked about in the wrong place. (Bitcoin Snob here)

Theoretically they count as a mining rig. So they aren't off topic.

Mining on an auto-exchanging scrypt multipool, I get daily payouts in Bitcoin. So I was not really aware that I am technically not a Bitcoin miner any more, until you pointed it out. Sniff, sob, cry... UPDATE: But as Beastlymac observed, still a mining rig, right ?

It is indeed a mining rig, the alt forum is just too much of a shitstorm of clonecoins and worthlesscoins to have a meaningful discussion of hardware there. When I started getting hardware errors and posted in this subforum about it my thread got moved and had an argument with a mod via PM and he ended up telling me to repost it in this forum with mhs listed instead of khs...

Theoretically they count as a mining rig. So they aren't off topic. And looking at pictures of Antminers or Avalons sitting on shelves is boring. I love checking out pics of these behemoth GPU rigs chewing up electricity and spitting out heat Maybe these are the monster trucks of crypto currency mining!

Sniff, sob, cry... UPDATE: But as Beastlymac observed, still a mining rig, right ? absolutely. Stop giving a flying fuck, this thread was all about GPUS when I hit the board 2012. Fuck it, I still post GPU stuff. It's still a rig, it's still to the spirit of this thread - I found it pretty lame when people came up with lame asics, block erupters and stuff. There is little to no work on these machines to be found, hence no need to upload images of it. I loved the custom cases and crazy fan builds on chairs, let's not ban gpus from this thread.

I agree that GPUs should be banished from this thread since they are no longer viable for bitcoin mining to make a profit. Glory to ASIC!

Sorry to burst your bubble but there are distinct and valid reasons to be using GPU in 2014. Or were you trolling? Some of these rigs people are posting images of cost over $6000, do you really think that they would go to great effort to design and construct these custom systems and not do a few calculations to prove they are viable and profitable?
