We will shortly be releasing the details of an experimental project under development by our company.

This new project is the creation of an app which will, in part, utilise a public blockchain for the 'token' element of its functionality.

<snip>

Reading it again, sounds very much like DAO. It could get interesting if BITS gets used to get those tokens. (like ETH for DAO) Grin

New batl fork wallet can be found here for windows https://www.mediafire.com/?o4pivz4vq9f62d8  and the source here https://github.com/bitstar/batl

We'll be creating the new ANN thread shortly.

Was an announcement thread ever made? I'm sure you have a lot on your plate, but it would be nice to get a quick update. Thanks.

No not yet, we've been wanting to ensure the network was stable and reliable before putting up the announcement thread and getting BATL on exchanges.

It will be done early next week.

Any updates on this project so far? I have been a long-term holder of BITS (even though I have never appeared on Bitcointalk for the sanity reasons) and I would like to be informed about the progress. Would be to hear from you guys.

The devs have been caught up in RL work so I have asked someone from the forum to do the layout for the OP of the thread so, while it is still a low-key project it has a decent thread to provide information and updates.

Yes. The dev is still here. If you have any technical issues with the coin or its related services, post here and he can assist.

Is world peace possible when the very lifeblood of our society, money, is created to finance resource extraction, property bubbles and war? In just 16 learning hours, the Money and Society MOOC will bring you new perspectives on how the world really works.

"A free online course at Masters-level will enable you to understand the past, present and future role of money in society. The 4th cohort starts 21st August 2016 and lasts 4 weeks."

It also covers interesting information about crypto currencies.

http://iflas.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/money-and-society-mooc.html

You can find out more at the link above.

A great course for helping you to understand and worth the time spent, also a good channel for networking with other like minded people.

Thanks.

Has the switch to 10% interest occurred yet? We're about 2 years in so if it hasn't happened yet, it should happen soon.

Yearly block count is 1049040 according to OP.

We are currently at block # 1638693.

So another 459,387 blocks left till we switch to 10% PoS I would think. (which seems to be another 160 days to go? hmm...)

Hope devs can confirm. Smiley

I want to open discussion about funds that were used to burn bits for batllestar coin. My thoughts are that instead of burning those funds we put them on escrow for futher developments for bits. So the funds would be used to pay devs for their work for bits. Right now it feels to me that there isnt much happening so maybe this could give new boost for development. Currently those funds are valued in bitcoin 27-28btc. Let's have some discussions!

There isn't much happening because there isn't much which can happen at the moment. As was explained earlier in the year, until iDEX is ready the ATM side of the project can't proceed. This is one of the reasons why we chose to use this time to develop the collaboration with the devs for BATL.

As for using the burned funds, that would then change the BATL distribution into an ICO, which was not at all the intent of the process and brings with it numerous complications and potential legal ramifications. Besides, should the BATL project succeed then the notion of burning BITS to distribute a new coin in order to establish a vested interest in it without the downside of a giveaway or the legal minefield of an ICO, serves to benefit both sides of the equation.

The burned coins are scheduled to be omitted when the new BITS wallet based on the same codebase as BATL is released. This will provably destroy the coins and reduce the total coin count accordingly.
