I'm watching Ivan on Tech's interview with Fluffy Pony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqhRZfKRriU and the interview is interesting sure, but I noticed something much more interesting. You can see the comments rolling in on the right side the same way they came in when the show was live, and I must say almost everyone is very positive. It's the first time I have been able to put a finger on the pulse of a random sampling of the wider crypto currency comminity with regards to their feelings about monero and they seem to have mostly very positive perceptions. It's worth a look if you have the time.

That's prolly cos the devs are doing a good job in trying to build an actual cryptocurrency.  And some of it is cos of Fluffy having more exposure than before.  Tbh, I didn't think much of XMR back in 2014 - 2015 (I wasn't paying attention, yeah, but I was trading in and out of it).  But if I've seen or watched a good interview of Fluffy, I might have started hodling then (which I do now).

The first interview I've watched with him on was with DeRose and Unseth at BU.  Fluffy owned both of them which was haylarious.  Cheesy

Huh?

Now you're just being difficult. If you simply exclude yourself then it still holds.

Monero's own traits are: Trust. Without trust from the user, no cryptocurrency can exist. Private and confidential. Monero claims that they will protect the identity of the user, hierarchy. Monero is not run by anyone

Yup.  Notice how they goad Fluffy at first.  It didn't work and it turned to Fluffy's favor.  I think that's when DeRose started paying more close attention to XMR.

I'm starting to become more and more convinced that this analysis might hold (some) truth:

It's not about HW wallets or anything, XMR is being price suppressed because big players are accumulating it big time. As someone said smart money is well aware of monero and they want to keep it as much as they can for themselves until inflation is low and they can mark the price way up

Didn't you guys notice we always are the last to pump ? its because pump happen in hierarchical orders, first you get the shittest of the the shitcoins with the wierd names like GROESTLECOIN and so on, then you got noob coins and strange coins and semi good coins, and when smart money has taken dumb money for as much as they can they pump XMR because they need to store their accumulated wealth somewhere, and whats the better place than monero?

Next year, we'll be at 4% inflation, this is bitcoin level now, and then quickly we'll be under bitcoin yearly inflation... this will be the time to mark up the price BIG TIME, I'm talking BTC current level

This is a slow play, this is like poker when you got quad aces and you want to take as much as you can from the noobs, you take your time, you let dumb money bids and buy DRAGONCHAIN and then you put your profit back into XMR.

RINSE and REPEAT until we're at 2-3% inflation and price is above 10K and doesn't come back.

I missed this great analysis. Now I'm hodling tighter to the last few coins that I have.  Cool

I have officially retired from attempting to understand the market dynamics of Monero. Why does it go up when it goes up? Why does it go down when it goes down? I have come to terms with the fact that I have no effing clue. I know why I own it and I know why I hold it and I'll sell it the day I see a better value proposition for what ever price it is that day. That is just going to have to be good enough.

I agree with you! There is no answer to this question, monero grows when he wants and falls down when he wants. Just need to sell it when it grows and buy when it falls.

Or hold it and buy some more when you have some spare founds. This simple "lazy man strategy" worked fine for me so far.

I gave up long ago.

Quote
Monetary status is a spontaneously emergent product of human action, not a rational product of human design. Individuals act out of self-interest, and technological possibilities and the economic realities of supply and demand shape the outcome of their actions, providing them with incentives to persist, adapt, change, or innovate. A spontaneous monetary order emerges from these complex interactions; it is not something that is conferred through academic debate, rational planning, or government mandate.

- Saifedean Ammous, Can Bitcoin's Volatility Be Tamed, 2018

In the absence of asymmetrical information, the only way to be an effective speculator is to transport value through time by formulating a plausible thesis for long-term value, and betting the current price is out of sync with this target. Short-term price action is the realm of insider information, which sadly, I am lacking. Everyone else, by definition, is dumb money.
