Question to traders in the area.  Considering what is going on right now with XMR, I'm debating on opening a long position.  The thing that I would like an opinion on is, would you currently open a long position for about 3 or 4 months until RingCT is implemented?  Considering when I personally margin trade, I put up very little.  This is due to me being only 1 month into trading world and what I'm learning via Baby Pips.

If you want to shit on my question cool.  But I'm just legitimately curious about opinions.

So, open long position on margin for ~50$ worth of XMR and let it sit until or around RingCT implementation?

Thank you.

heres my advice to you: don't mess with margin, buy, hold or sell.

I like this advice.  I've only been thinking about it but I am still relatively uncertain of consequences and other things involved with margin.  Thank you for taking the time to reply. Smiley

A friend of mine went long on GBP/EUR just before it dropped heavily and he lost thousands. Think very carefully if you are margin trading - and make sure you get out early and setup stop losses.

This is my all time fear.  No matter how much I learn there's always that chance.  Sorry about your friend.  That event must have been gut wrenching.

A long position of $50 is probably a good idea, unless you absolutely can not live without that money.
I really doubt the people saying that the price will drop to 0.007
Obviously I could be wrong, but this seems like the same kind of talk where people claim Bitcoin will drop to $250 by the start of next year.
Too many places have started to accept Monero for it to totally crash. (Hopefully)

I'll be watching the buy and sell orders the next couple of hours and we will see what happens I guess!

How would the dollar amount be relevant to such decision? But I am happily waiting for Aminorex to come with a plausible answer and be convinced otherwise.

- You can figure out what will happen, not when /Warren Buffett
- Pay any Bitcoin address privately with a little help of Monero.

I agree so far with margin trading. Just make sure you cant get kicked out (liquidated) cause you have insufficient money on your account. Long is for sure a better option than short atm. Considering ~140k coins which are lend makes 280k which have to be rebought soon. Correct me if im wrong, just driving home from beach

Looks like it is correcting, i guess between 0.014 and 0.013 (lost 100$). My guess is that the price will remain stable for a while and maybe later increase a lot.

There was around 300k XMR available for lending when price was over 0.017, now there's less than 200k XMR on lending market. Where are the missing XMR, here or there?
here - shorters shorted, shorters cry ...
there - lenders dumped to buy back later, hodlers hoddled, hodlers don't care too much about short term movements ...

I like to see more XMR on lending market cos when lenders feel comfortable with holding and lending - its a good sign, but when they decide to dump - things can get ugly.
In next few days we'll find out how many XMR was here and there ...

Best "trading" advice I could give anyone here is: whatever I seem to think to do, do the opposite LOL

Every time I think price is going down more, it bounces and starts going up.

Every time I think price is going up more, some whale dumper comes along and crashes it.

I seem to have the Reverse Midas Touch, LOL... whatever I touch doesn't turn to gold, it turns to that other stuff  Tongue

The ONLY exception to this has been my good fortune (luck) to make the decision to buy a little Monero, simply as a bitcoin hedge, over two years ago.

Just wish I'd bought MORE, of course, LOL... but thankful for small favors anyway in life.

LESSON HERE?  "HODL" in crypto is really the ONLY solid way to go.

Stop trying to pick up pennies in front of the steamroller: just get your stash of coins socked away safe (NOT ON EXCHANGE!) and just HODL On Tight!

Then, once your basis price has achieved one of these legendary cryptocurrency 10-X "ten bagger" spikes, you can sit back and enjoy the volatility show.

Think of how people who bought bitcoin under $50 feel, these days, when 1 BTC is priced over $500-600.  Or one XMR under a $1 with it now in $10-range.

Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus and, yes, This Can Be You  Grin

P.S. {Edit} Seems like as good a time as any to make a little UPDATE to an image I've posted here on BTCTalk before, LOL

Buy The XMR,  Take The Ride... LOL

The opposite theory works and because you think that by reading the chart that is what 99% of others will think, as fear and greed are wired in our brains 99.9% the same way as the next guy. The market makers need liquidity so they create waves to entice ppl to get in especially with margin as that provides their exit profit. Anyways I used to follow https://www.dailyfx.com/forex/education/trading_tips/daily_trading_lesson/2012/08/30/The_Speculative_Sentiment_Index.html which is part of FXCM for the contrary COT sentiment of retail positions to know which way to trade in short term (always against retailers)... You can bet that the XMR whales and polo admins are in on it by knowing the margin thresholds of majority of traders... this wont stop until there is a true dex out there with information that everyone can see and noone has an edge... that would be a true market.
