Rather good support - I expected a hammering, but some people seem to know a bargain when they see one...
Being able to buy XMR for under $100 is like having a time machine back to 2013. Looking forward to dumping my Bcash and B2X next month. I'm counting on Jeff, Roger, Jihan, and Barry pumping both to over >1 BTC for the sake of subsidizing their silly attack forks. But I expect everyone else (except SHAtoshi) will be doing the same, so XMR may not be any cheaper relative to BTC when people go hedge shopping with their airdrop coins. As long as the air drop isn't risky becaue of lack of replay protection, expect an initial BTC rise, then diversification of profits into crypto - so XMR today is looking very cheap. Come next spring I suspect people will be cursing every XMR they ever sold.

Personally, I think s2x will be the longest chain, because BTC hash rate will be inadequate to keep up. According to Satoshi, that makes s2x the true chain. Once the chains diverge enough, and before the deluge, it will be time to dump BTC classic. And yes, I will roll gains into XMR, of course.

Hello guys I'm new to Monero, just wondering what is causing the recent drop in Monero? I know recently all altcoins were crushed by BTC's rise, but is there any specific reason Monero collapsed against BTC?
Thanks.

No real specific reason. All alts are being sold to chase BTC forks. I mean, look at ETH. It's now under 0.05 because of this.

This is one of the busiest threads here in the Alternate Cryptocurrencies. The community of followers of Monero (XMR) is very huge. I guess the feature that makes Monero the topmost coin when it comes to anonymity has bear fruits. It has effectively pulled crypto fanatics together close to this project. Bitcoin, although proclaiming to be anonymous, has been proven to be less. Monero is now the leading figure of anonymity.

BTC rises and alts fall (some more than others ), but Monero seems to hold well vs usd for long stretches of time. This is one of the busiest threads here in the Alternate Cryptocurrencies. The community of followers of Monero (XMR) is very huge. I guess the feature that makes Monero the topmost coin when it comes to anonymity has bear fruits. Very true, welcome.

Nope, the longest valid chain is Bitcoin. Barry and Jihan (or anyone else) may make an invalid chain as long as you like it to be (EDA and ASICboost help too), but it will be ignored by economic Bitcoin nodes because it violates their governing consensus rules. No amount of drama can force Core nodes to accept invalid blocks, as we already know from enjoying the lulz provided by Bitcoin Scrypt, XT, Classic, Unlimited, Bcash, and most recently, Bgold. BTC hash rate responds to economics. Within the incentive structure designed by Satoshi, as tx fees pile up and compete "inadequate" hash rate is a self-correcting problem. Ironically, panic sellers help ameliorate the (exaggerated) problem of sluggish confirmations by paying higher fees to move coins for dumping ASAP. Can't wait to see B2X #rekt by the same transaction fee markets the Gavinistas have spent years FUDing, ridiculing, distrusting, and trying to forcefully replace with a more centralized network... Why wait until the rest of us may also be rolling gains into XMR? Adam Back is offering 3 B2X for 1 BTC right now. What a deal! Better act fast! https://twitter.com/adam3us/status/924637643035545601https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/79h032/seeking_buyers_of_b2x_coins_price_3_for_1_in/Don't worry about possibly being too much of a whale; Adam says there are available many batches of 750B2X for 250BTC.

Monero is alright but can someone explain me what chance it stands against Zcash? I think Zcash has already proved that they use by far the most superior cryptography. And if you don't believe me, you don't have to. Just ask yourself why JP Morgan is implementing their solution and not Monero's solution in their blockchain ledger, or why Ethereum is implementing the Zcash technology and not the Monero technology? I have nothing against Monero but it looks to me like everything is against that coin, what are the chances of success when developers come up with real innovations. That is already a good proof that is reflected in the price of the currency, Zcash is far more valuable than Monero, so the market has spoken regarding that topic. Monero has to implement some real alternative to even come close to compete with Zcash. I wish the team best of lack, we need competition in the space because it pushes us to improve our service and products, I hope it does the same for Monero.
You wonder why all are implementing z-cash or the tech of z-cash, well count the bodies z-cash leaves behind If i where you, i wouldn't even think of touching it

You are totally mistaken to believe that Zcash is "far more valuable" than Monero. As of now Monero has more than double the market cap - comparing unit prices is meaningless...

Why does it taint them? it's just like buying something with notes and getting your change back. The coins aren't "tainted" they become untraceable and fungible.
