The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

APIs are very slow returning values. On a cached dns request it is taking over 6 seconds, also other users are reporting that issue using BitWid android app.

Out of curiosity, why does it take 120 confirmations, vs. slush only takes 100 confirmations?

Anyway, it's a great pool.

Can someone explain this 'luck' thing to me because I'm just not getting it. For the past few days we've been showing lots of luck for the pool BUT looking at the new charts I'm not seeing it. We mined less coins today than yesterday AND less coins yesterday than the day before that. In what universe is that considered 'lucky'  Huh I don't get it  Undecided

Difficulty increase of 50% a few days ago = We should be mining approximately 33% fewer coins per day.  Luck = Average shares per block / Current Difficulty.  We are still currently "lucky" because we are solving blocks faster than average at this difficulty.

I have a few nvidia cards running.  Producing ~300MHash/sec combined.  To me, I just view it as a slow/non-overclocked ATI.   Cheesy

I also have a bunch of CPU miners running as well.  Total combined maybe 200MHash/sec total.  Not worth much but any little bit helps I guess.  Luckily utils are free for me.  It's actually TOO COLD at my place.  Central Air + 2 portable AC units is making things actually too cold now.

If I was paying for electric, I probably wouldn't bother with the nvidia/cpus.  Them + the extra cooling probably wouldn't be worth it.

Living in Texas where it's 100 degrees outside, in a badly insulated trailer, paying for my own utilities and air conditioning, reading your post makes me want to pull my hair out.

So, we're doing worse than before BUT not as bad as we should be. That makes us lucky. Ok... got it. One black eye is better than two  Grin

No. Difficulty went up, so we are supposed to produce less bitcoins (which is what is happenign). But luck is calculated for each difficulty level. So we are producing less bitcoins now because difficulty went up, but given the expected median production at this difficulty level we are being lucky.

Fixed.

I was hoping pool speed would drop to very slow growth over the next week (seems like total network speed is stagnant right now), but that isn't the case.  Adding on two temporary servers this evening to hold us off until the new server is delivered, setup, and mailed out to a colo facility.

Fixed the bug where hidden workers would show up under Worker Summary if that had submitted a share in the current round.

Can you have a look also at the long loading time to fetch the API string? http://www.btcguild.com/api.php?api_key=

Thanks.

Thanks.

Long load time is due to the API having to grab live user stats from all of the servers.  It will remain a long load time until the new server hardware is setup and ready to replace all the current US servers.

Out of curiosity, why does it take 120 confirmations, vs. slush only takes 100 confirmations?

If you Solo mine, and actually find a block... the 50 Bitcoin reward appears as a "Generated" transaction... as opposed to a "Sent" or "Received" transaction.
The Bitcoin protocol requires 120 confirmations before "Generated" coins can be spent. Since the pool Generates the coins, eleuthria is just making you wait the same amount of time that he has to wait before you can get your reward. I have no idea why any other pool would not use that same 120 confirmations.

The 120 confirmations are required to make absolutely sure that the block that was found is valid.

Now, let me take this time to remind everyone that you can skip all the waiting if you adjust your donation to 2.5% or more.
Not only do you help eleuthria pay for the servers needed to run the pool, but when a block is found, your estimated rewards goes instantly to your confirmed rewards. Even if a block is invalid, you still get paid.

US West #2 is being pushed back in favor of a new EU (UK) server.  This new server is actually a small cluster, one IP with multiple servers behind it.  It should be up in the next 8 hours.  If the load balanced cluster works, I will prepare to consolidate the NL pools into the cluster, eventually leaving us with two EU servers (EU DE and EU UK).
