^^ problem with this is that users get approx 30% more income (at costs of other miners... its just not that bad "per person" because the most are honest) - and you say if the donate 2.5% to the owner thats ok i stopped pool hopping; i really like the maths behind it and try to learn more. but for now i decided to stick with a fair system (and keep an eye, on another problem with this system - i wont name it. btc guild is a GREAT pool- if you like prop - you should stay) EDIT: but still, i dont like stats delay. i think there are other options, as just a "shortage" on miners which left to early (as i thought this pool was about as much stats as possible

Or-- Eleuthria: you could become truly "the other Deepbit" -- and offer all the methods -- then do as Tycho did today and let newbies know at what point they should change from one to the other (see today's thread at same in forums)
I still think that you should bring back full round stats for people donating over a certain percentage.
oh yeah -- 580 BTC should be seen in terms of its opportunity cost, not just averaged BTC value.
and as for that member who is fond of butts -- tend to your own after you hurt it some more waiting for simplecoin.us to bring you any of the returns of BTCguild. ;-)
I got a 1btc bonus for finding a block today there! I would have gotten 0 bonus at BTCGuild . If you bring back stats for anyone, you can set up a cpu miner or some such and set it to 10% donate, and then just read the data from that with your other 42 GHash/s But I am sure you already figured that out

eleuthria, I agree with one of the previous posters and think that all the negativity in here is coming from the pool hoppers (who were walking off with 30% more than they deserved, the cost of which us legit users paid for)
Don't sweat it, know you did the right thing for the legit loyal users who keep their cards pointed at you 24/7 (except during blackouts, etc)
I applaud the delay as well!

+1 to this. Let them hop elsewhere.

I call Bull Pucks on you. It would be trivial for me or Eleuthria to prove that I, too, keep my miners pointed at BTCGuild "24/7" for my meager 1.2 Gh/s contribution. The 42 Gh/s I referred to was an estimate, week of July 3 -9, for the "small industrial scale" miners in the data center hotel where I work. Many people have co-located dedicated mining rigs in several co-lo facilities in this building; some of them keep casually in touch, and that group jokingly refers to itself as "Agjajag" (if you know your HGTTU references). The entire group uses BTCguild as their primary server. As far as pool-hopping, I have read 67 posts today going back two weeks on this thread, and so I am a bit familiar with the arguments. The math does not convince me on either side of the pool-hopping arguments. BOTH sides ignore the stochasticity inherent in the block-finding behaviors. (!!!) I applaud Eleuthria for choosing a solution, though, and implementing it; apparently he has already seen an "improvement".

Would love to see them try. The website completely masks the last hour of round activities. It's not updated hourly, its a rolling window.

The math does not convince me on either side of the pool-hopping arguments. BOTH sides ignore the stochasticity inherent in the block-finding behaviors. (!!!)
In my post a few pages back, I put up my math showing how pool hoppers don't impact the BTC/minute for a round in any of 3 scenarios: Pool hoppers there the whole round, part of a round, or not at all. My math was wrong because it was looking at a single round worth of information. If you look back at the post, and COMBINE the two rounds you will get the following: In scenario 1 (with hoppers) "rest of the pool" will get 45 + 48.34 = 93.34 BTC in 5 + 32.22 = 37.22 min, resulting in 2.51 BTC/min In scenario 2 (without hoppers) "rest of the pool" will get 50 + 50 = 100 BTC in 5.55 + 33.33 = 38.88 min, resulting in 2.57 BTC/min These were using fairly simplified numbers, and assuming hoppers were only 100 GH/s rather than 200+ which I now know they were. In those scenarios (a 500k and a 3m round), the net effect was 0.06 BTC/minute drop if hoppers were part of the pool during the start of rounds, or 2.3%. Now my math used was very simple, but the theory holds true for actual pool hopping.

You can still get payouts before 120 confirmations, and on invalid blocks. The only delay is that you won't know you have any rewards (and therefor be unable to request them) until 1 hour after a block solves.

What happened to estimated reward?
I'd like an answer for this as well. Since the last hour is being hidden, it probably won't mean anything anymore. I will be adding back an estimated reward field, which will be measured by calculating your speed in comparison to overall pool speed. Assuming 100% participation in the round, this will give you an accurate representation of your estimated rewards.
