so to run 4 s7s and 3 s5 plus the rest of my house its 350 a month.
Consider yourself lucky, it would cost me just about that much to run 1 S7 from home.  I will have my Avalon6 hosted.

what bugs me is there is other power options i could go with and ya they might be a 1 cent or 2 more expensive per kw they dont charge the transmission fee.

my bill for January was 125 for power only.. the rest was fees they tacked on totaling 359.60 after fees. if thats that case and the fees are required then dont claim 5 cent power kw. do the math and state what it really is 13 cent power per kw. but by keeping the "price" per kw low they force you to stay with them.

It was costing me $490 a month to run 4 S5s out of my garage plus my (small) house.  That's when I discovered hosting at data centers and never looked back.  You have a bargain from where I stand!  Grin

my 28 s7's got .0975 btc reward on the last block. This is at 35ph. At 31ph they got .107 btc. (five blocks previous)(yesterday) (ouch!)

wow 28 s7. are all those hosted? or at an offsite?

the heat output is insane the 5 i have. i cant imagine what 28 would put out.

I believe Wolfen have many of them hosted at a DC but the heat is not bad if you funnel the heat out.  If you don't, even 2-4 S7 can cook your garage.  If you funnel it out and install a heat shield (simple cheap heat resistance foam) to block the exhaust heat from coming back to your intake fan of the S7, you can have 100+ and still only need 1 high CFM FAN and your indoor ambient temp won't be that much hotter than outside.  I've tested this configuration in my garage before deploying similar data center designs with my partners.  Granted you're allowing equal CFM worth for new intake air to come in.   Hot air rise so the outlet vent / funnel is best on top (I vent thru my attic).  Without funneling and heat shield for maximum efficiency, you will need much more high power CFM fans to hopefully produce to the same results.   I spent so much money on the latter solutions before I learn about the funneling trick from MarkAZ's design.  No AC required either.

ONE S7 can cook your garage. Temps 80 here.
Yep, the pack is in a datacenter in Virginia.
Just two 48u racks, 14 each rack.
The heat blazes out of the back.
Four 30 amp circuits on each rack, 208v, the datacenter will only let me use 22 amps on each circuit for safety.
Two miles down the street, tier 4 datacenter. Just can't do them at the house.
Was running 42 s5's at home and that was brutal. My electric bill last june was $2000+ so off to the datacenter they went.

Wolfen, If you don't mind my asking what data center are you hosting at and could you by chance share what they are charging you? I own a house in Newport News and get up that way every now and again from where I am in the Raleigh area.

They won't let me put any more miners in at my current price. They can get $20,000 per rack from some companies.
I got a crazy special deal. They are not going to boot me in july they just wont give me more space unless I pay double.
Not going to do that. They are not making any money on me. The amount I pay barely covers the electricity.

God this is embarrassing but here goes..

I sent some BTC I mined to the address featured on this page

http://imgur.com/ACeMku7

instead of my wallet address! Sad

Would anyone have access to that address? or have I just sent my 0.12416008BTC into the ether?

thanks,
Al

Remember when you get hosted the hosting fee is a tax write off. So $1000 would really only cost $750 in a 25% tax bracket.

lol, ya in doing some searching here and at Peak 10 there in Richmond I found everyone wanted a LOT in order to get the amount of power needed to run a decent amount of gear... oh well

I am interested in hosting also.  I've got a bunch of S5's and S7's in my home garage currently drawing right around 300A @ 240V.

They are claiming I am using too much power for my meter that is rated CL-300 or 300 amp continuous load.

I have a feeling they are wanting me to upgrade the meter and go on commercial power which costs twice as much.

They don't know what I am up to.  All they know is that I am, by far, their biggest residential customer.  My last bill was over $4000!
This is raising all sorts of red flags on their end.

They are hesitant to answer questions like "How much power can I use with my 400 A service?"  I actually have a 2nd 400 amp service which
I was planning on building a shed and expanding to, but right not is not the time for me to expand.

If they push me, I may have to retire my s5's and have my s7's hosted if I can do it at a reasonable price.  Hopefully I will be armed with
this information before that meeting.  Also I've been reading here that some of you are renting hash power.  This is something I need to look
into as well.

It seems funny to me that, while the power company is running radio advertisements, they don't like selling a lot of power to me.

I know this is continuing an off topic post, but I like the audience here.

This gets stranger, it IS the address in my settings.

But as Kano.is pays out quite frequently and this has been resolving to my wallet which has a different receiving address I had no reason to check my settings.

How could this be?

edit: looks like its because I'm using a hierarchical deterministic wallet? maybe explains that

It is 'his' address and even shows up under the same address on blocktrail
I can only guess it's got something to do with whatever service controls that address.

You are using your own wallet on your computer at home? Or is an online wallet? Where did you get the btc address?
That btc address is a multisig (3 at the front)
