As a miner in a pool that shares transaction fees, is anyone else missing the days (not that long ago) of the 14+ BTC block rewards? Although as a user of BTC the low fees are great and probably better for the currency in the long run.

Those were the good old days where it really didn't matter where you mined (as long as the pool paid out the transaction fees).  Those 18-24 BTC blocks were great!
imagine the first couple years where it was 50BTC mining with CPU / GPU cards.  I'll bet those miners wish they would have made a few changes to their investment strategy!  And many likely did amazingly well too.

For those thinking about mining with Kano Pool.

If you have one miner or a hundred, you can search far and wide but you will not find a better Bitcoin Pool to mine with.

The information provided by Kano is Top Notch, Top Drawer and he is always engaged in the Pool and the operation of it.

You can search far and wide but you will NOT find a better community of miners who support this pool.

The benefits can only be calculated in the analysis of the data.

Some of us don't have to imagine those days. Yes, I would make a change to my investment strategy over then...I would not have kept my earnings from those 50BTC blocks in Mt. Gox's wallet.  Kiss

Holy smokes!  This guy is super lucky to hit 2 blocks in one day with just 132TH!  Shocked

Mine on!  Wink

I'd say he should probably try solo mining for a few days, but luck doesn't work that way so I'll just say I'm glad we can share in the luck Smiley

Chance of you finding a block in one day:    1 in 1,304.0 (132TH)
Chance of two blocks in one day: 1/(1304^2) = 1 in 1,700,416
So you're saying there's a chance......

Wow!  1 in 1,700.416!  This guy hit a Jackpot! Shocked

Im awaiting a shipment of 50 S9's.  This doesnt meet your requirement to participate in the giveaway, so why should I choose this pool for my 50 miner farm?
Probably the biggest reason is the 0.9% fee versus 2 or more of most other pools.  If your alternative is slushpool, you can look at the stats on the home page of minergain.com and see that for a year, kano provides an average of 0.00032379 BTC per Th / Day versus 0.00029488 (after pool fees).  If I have my math right, with 50 S9's running at 13.5Th/s, that is 79.77+BTC versus 72.65+BTC so more than 7 BTC additional with Kano.  Obviously this is historical, so this WILL be different for the next 365 days but gives you an idea.  Unfortunately I am not tracking other pools yet but probably similar.  So you can consider going to Kano the potential of a 7BTC bonus - and since random is random, it could be a fair bit higher since you would take a bigger percentage of the rewards in a 80Ph pool versus a 2.85Eh.

You definitely got something wrong there buddy.  If we were getting average of 0.00032379 per th/day then just one s9 would be making us more around $1180 per month! Which isn’t true, since one s9 can make you only around $250-$300 max per month.

This is over the 12 months which obviously the difficulty was much less 12 months ago with a lot higher BTC rewards  back then (and lower dollars since it was under $3k).  Using the spot price of BTC when the reward was earned, I made $1189 in December and am already at $338 this month.  As I mentioned, that is the past which has no bearing on the future.  I have not had anyone do a detailed review of my numbers and math.  If you are interested in confirming both, I am happy to share the details.  If you look at the past week CDT of 0.00015486 and quarterly of 0.00012451, the difficulty change has made an obvious net earnings change since it is less than half of the yearly per day average.

Yep, now it's looking like a 100% block would be "cracked" in about 50 hours now.  That beats 4 days.

Not gonna twist your arm, but go ask the question in any other pool, and let us know how long it takes to get a direct answer from the pool operator. Compare that number with Kano's time. Kano's support, is UNTOUCHABLE!!! Take a trip through the pages of this thread, and see for yourself. You WILL NOT get that dedication from any other pool operator. And, it's more than the pool. If you truly want to understand Bitcoin, and the longevity of its health, Kano's the guy to learn from!!! Bottom line.

Most pools are out there churning out numbers, not caring if they mine empty blocks, or lose 3 days of their pools work for no reason. Those actions are a means to the end of Bitcoin, and ALL Cryptocurrency for that matter. Kano is 100% for the health and longevity of Bitcoin, and it's Community. This is an example WE should ALL follow,  cause at the end of the day, if you want to earn, Bitcoin has got to be healthy.

Like any Gopher would do...  I saw all the GREEN Grass on the graphs and charts..  and I brought my 0.081 PH/s back.  Yes, Now I have to compare it to PH not just TH. :-)
10 day ramp out of the gopher hole isnt so bad either to get to that grass!

So if that guy can get 2 blocks that fast.. I should be able to get the next one with half the hashing power....    My S9's are happy, I cleaned them, blew out the dust from months of running..  good for another 60 days.

Help troubleshooting S9 Antminer

This is the same s9 machine I have had intermittent problems with the fan speeding up and down every 15- to 20 seconds....

https://imgur.com/a/ADonB

I definitely have a problem with 1 of the hash cards (only hashes a little bit)  .. (card #1 I think) (In loking at the miner, which card is number 1?)

The other 2 cards were working ok and had been running but hot...

So got to the point where it would not even power up and hash...

I have tried several things, ... changed the fan, tried a different power supply, changed the controller board, etc...

Bitmain had me go back to a older version of software for this machine, it will power up... but takes 10 minutes to start hashing, then might hash for 10 minutes or and then quits hashing...

Not sure, it may be getting to hot...

I have 5 other miners setting right beside this machine and none of them are even close to overheating and no problems at all with heat or fans on any of them

Some of the fan readings have been flaky as well so that is why I changed the controller board...  nothing changed...

So if I remove the one board and have it fixed, then what should I do next?  I assume it will run ok with just 2 hash boards right?  will it stay coller with just 2 hash boards?

Looking for ideas to try to get it to run at least on the 2 boards nad stay running?

Thanks for any info and Mine On with KANO!!

Pecker,
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to discuss specific issues with S9 hardware, but you should at least post the screenshot of 'miner status' page for others to see what is actually going on.
Also, check the log file (located under System --> Kernel log) for some error messages. Or better put it on pastebin and post the link here. There can be some hints, too.

Edit:
You said you changed the fan. Which fan did you install? The "usual" fans offered in PC repair shops will likely NOT provide enough cooling for the miner. You need special fans capable to deliver certain air pressure in order to keep the chips temperature down.

Have you blown out the dust and dirt.  I had some issue with one that the fans were ramping up and down.  A full power cycle seemed to solve it for a bit, but would come back.  I found that it was in a bit warmer room, or colder, that ramping did not happen.  Ironically its fan speeds wouldn't even be at full speed.  I have 3 in a house now that the ambient room temp is now at about 27 deg, and the fans are at 4800 and 5200.  When the room temp was near 22 it would ramp up and down all the time.

As for the hash board, are you powering the S9 with 120 V or 240 volt?  I had similar issue where my walking over the cord would cause a hash board to stop.  I didn't know at first but it was every time I touched the power supply, or walked past/over this cord.  The only thing I can figure is that it was the static shock messing with it, very minor static, but becuase it was from the carpet. ( I have two S9's in a box venting into return air for furnace in house)

Have you tried switching the hash board from one chain to another?  not to test, but to keep like that.  I also found that the problem S9 that i had that issue with only had it when it was cold, ie first boot up, but dissappereared when it was warmed up.

Thanks for info...

Here are current screenshots from when I just powered it up...

The fan was a new OEM from ebay trusted seller and looked exactly kine the new ones.. got it from alink from someone on Kano...

This machine is powered by 220....

https://imgur.com/a/CJ3Ub

It worked for a few weeks with 2 full card and 1 partial that was hashing...now down to one that works till it shuts down..

Could I have the fans plugged into wrong plugins?  Would that cause this?  I'm sure there is at least one baord issue so that is my next step this evening...

Any help is appreciated..

Well aside from the 30krpm fan reading which is erroneous, the 2400rpm fan reading is too slow for an S9 fan and would cause overheating for sure.  I'd check your fans again...
