Guys,any ideas/thoughts/performance stats about the Pangolin Whatsminer M3X ?
Looking at its power consumption (1800-2100W according to the specs vs ~1300-1500W for an Antminer S9), in my opinion, it is only worth buying if you find it really cheap AND you have a cheap electricity. Also keep in mind that ~2kW power means the same amount of heat to dissipate. So you will need to provide a better cooling as well. The difference is not so big if you buy just a few devices. But it gets significant if you plan to get a lot of them.

Oh in case anyone didn't notice ... there was a diff change 18 hours ago ... JUST after the last block Smiley
Code:
[2018-03-18 11:40:16.161+00] workinfo_add(): DIFF CHANGE: hi=514080 delta=5.23% new=3462542391191.6 prev=3290605988755.0
And of course the last block was 514075 at 2018‑03‑18 11:12:43 UTC

5.23% - well that's a lot better than the last couple Smiley
Does it make sense that some have bailed out due to profitability concerns (i.e. Electric cost & lower BTC-to-USD price)?
no point in spending money to keep the think on also if u turn it off it will save the life of the machine for when its more profitable again finialy if u can sell it for whaty u paid or better no loss
I hear that. Of course, I was mainly wondering about it from the perspective of it's easing affect on difficulty increases.

dose difficulty ever go down ? like if bitman was to shut off all there machines in the world would the difficulty get easy again Cheesy

It has in the past, I think it was in September or November last year?  As more and more machines come online, the difficulty increases, that's the way this game works.

Yep, bitcoin is designed to keep the world wide average block finding time right around 10 minutes by adjusting difficulty.  If hash rate drops significantly the average block finding time would increase so the diff would decrease to keep it roughly at 10 minutes.

Mining for You at https://kano.is

Hello, everyone.  I just wanted to announce that in approximately nine hours, I'm going to take a snapshot of the Kano Pool Stats page. Everyone mining on Kano Pool at that time with a hash rate between 100 GHs and 50 THs inclusive has one entry into a drawing held immediately thereafter. The drawn entry will receive approximately 96 hours (~4 days) of my old S3 mining under their Kano Pool User Name.

Right now, the plan is to do this on a weekly basis.

If anyone affected by this wishes to opt out, please pm me.
The miner providing the equipment for this Small Miner Bonus Hash Giveaway will not be entered, so everyone else's chances are a little better.

The provider of this in no way warrants that they will be liable for outages or hash not supplied due to circumstances beyond his/her control.
In the event of any dispute, the final word belongs to Kano.

MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!!!!

Mine at Kano Pool. https://kano.is

Looking for a good deal on Hashing contracts.
I got ripped off by https://www.cryptomining247.com/ last year.
They payed out for a couple months then zip zero zilch!
I like the idea of renting hash power over time and I don't have several thousand dollars to invest in machines right now so...
Anyone know a reputable site?
Thanks in advance!

Most hashing contracts (not all but most) are scams of some sort. If they are legitimate, once you do the math they won't be cheap and there will not be any assurance of return. In this business, like most businesses, you can't get something for nothing. If a hashing contract is legitimate you will have to pay them an amount such that they can bank on a return on their machines - and you take all the uncertainty of bitcoin price falling or difficulty rising.

Nicehash is mostly legitimate (not strictly a hashing contract but a rental of hashpower), and once you run the numbers it works out that you will pay very close to your expected return.

I currently have about 5 months left on contract. Depending on a few factors, I will probably break even.

I won't outright call them scams; most operate on what have been called here "Chinese business principles". That being said, I only put into it what I was prepared to totally lose and hoped for the best.  Not exactly a scientific investment plan, but....

Their advertising directly implies that you will pay well above your expected return ...
Of course that's also not true, but they say it to attract ignorant miners to put their miners on there.

One catch with nicehash is that you have no idea about the miners being used at all ... and ...

For anyone mining to nonce.kano.is with Asicminer Tubes

I've switched it over to a different server 4 days ago, but the 'old' server is still running.
This means if you have reconnected since then, you'll have switched to the 'new' server.

So far half the users on there have switched over, the other half still mining to the 'old' server.
At 04:00 UTC (about 7.5hrs from now) I'll stop the 'old' server from accepting mining and connections, and the rest will switch over to the 'new' server.
This will just make the miners still on the 'old' server do a reconnect to the 'new' server.

Mine on! Smiley
