Block!!$$

So I have no idea how it works really, I kinda do but not really.  The 5nd.....it seems to be increasing rather quickly lately compared to in the past.  Is this because of the forks and everything?  Also does anyone feel like the difficulty is going to be rising at this rate on a constant basis or can the diff actually go down at some point or just stop rising.  I don't know, if someone who knows about this stuff could explain it a bit that would be amazing!!!

5ND has been decreasing with more hash being pointed here.  More and more machines coming online = difficulty increasing.  Going to need some quiet weeks (or violent downturn in BTC price) to get things to flatten out or go negative.

Thanks for the info my good sir!

May I ask a semi-offtopic question, please? Smiley
The community here is so friendly and experienced, therefore I would like to ask for an advice. I do understand the concern about the monopoly of Bitmain in mining HW (and the use of affiliated pools by the majority of their devices). But I'm also curious if there are other reasons to prefer "alternative" (Ebang, Canaan, ...) products? From my math, the S9 is still the most efficient miner available today (if one doesn't have a "free" electricity), and it can also be found at a good price nowadays. For example, in my area the Avalon A821 can be found for ~$2150 (that's $195 per 1TH), and the Antminer S9 is offered for ~$2350 (that's $175 per 1TH).
From the technical point of view, I see quite a lot of problem reports related to Antminers, and almost no complaints about Avalons. But considering the total number of Antminers out there, this is probably somewhat expected... (yes, I tend to believe the Avalons may be more reliable, but I can't quantify by how much more reliable they are).
So aside from the personal preference, what are the other reasons to go for the Avalons (or maybe Ebits)?
(and no, I'm not offering these miners for sale).

P.S. I started mining on Kano pool with a couple of S7, now swapping them for a couple of E9+. I did have an S9 briefly, and now I'm considering my options for future growth. Right now ROI is the most important factor for me, that's why I wonder if I'm somewhat mislead thinking the S9 _looks_ to be the most attractive ATM?

There's almost no reason to go for the Ebit miners at all considering most of them are selling for ridiculous prices even used as of right now, and they're just not very good miners in the first place. They're incredibly prone to breaking and Ebit's support is terrible. HagssFIN's post should be enough to keep you away from them.

Avalon miners tend to be exceptionally reliable and well-built in my experience, and their support's better than Bitmain's. Never had issues with them before, and they use simple RPI controllers that can easily be flashed and bought if they break, and there are ways to bypass the AUC3 adapters they use.

I agree. I wish I hadn't bought the one eBit I did, and instead bought an Avalon 741 with that money.
