What hurts the prices is when 'somebody' rents like 3-4PH and raises up the prices, throws the profitability off for everyone (including themselves) and hoses the pool luck also.
How exactly do you think they're "hosing the pool luck?" Well. Everytime there is a huge rental the pool luck and blocks go down. Not scientific but it is what it is. My only block on this pool was from a rented miner.

If anyone cares to prove me wrong, you're welcome to rent 3+ pH for half a day. Otherwise I stand by my beliefs. Same as when people told me it was not the fact that pool restarts give better block finds. This too is unscientific, yet true.

I just noticed one of my S7s has a best share of 66,576,783,617. That's the biggest I've ever seen from one of my rigs. It would have been a block back in November, which is a mere three months ago Yes, I know that best share is a useless statistic. But it does give me an artificial, meaningless, and admittedly silly sense of accomplishment.

I rented 2.5PH, but did so at a time when I could get most of it at 37-38. Only last for 3-4 shifts but thats fine. Pushed my entire 5N avg up by 90TH

Points well taken, -ck. I do have a question, though: Is there a way to backtrack and see how many blocks kano ckpool hit that caused another pool/miner to have an orphan? In other words, could the above average luck seen on the blocks listing be attributed to the superior, optimized code you and kano-san have written and are running for the pool? While I like having fun as much as the next guy, and I'm sure I could speak for many here that we're more than pleased with the extra payouts we've been getting lately, we all know that chicken eating, ckdb restarts, block friday and block dances aren't _really_ doing anything, right gang? If you think otherwise, any casino is just waiting for you to head on in and "try your luck!" /rantoff

You guys are reading too much into it. We're just having fun with all the jokes about chicken eating, dancing, pool restart stuff. It is what makes this pool fun, and keeps the people here during the good and the bad times rather than just the sour puss that would just whine when pools are having crappy days. If it's 500 pages of 5ND explanation when it's already on the help page, do you really think people would be going around advertising Kano or be as excited to be part of the same team / pool? Don't read too deeply into it. We're not that stupid into believing that it actually changes the luck. It's the comrade and the cheers that separates this pool from the others. I don't think I'll comment on this thread anymore.

Things that people say add to luck are amusing. Conspiracy theories regarding bad luck blocks are rarely amusing.
