Kano - I've been running on SG node for past 1.5 days now - was just wondering how I'd know if this is any better than mining on JP node (I'm ~10ms from SG data centers and ~80ms from JP data centers) on my ISP.
If you are that close to SG vs JP then yeah mining to SG is best for you. Mining to a close node reduces your stales and speeds up getting the block out, since nodes send the block direct to the Fibre Relay. However, since there's no Fibre Relay in SG, for anyone in between them with similar times (+/-50ms) to both, mining to JP would be better, which is not the case for you based on those numbers, so yep SG is better for you.

But a few times before we got a block mine REALLY started moving. They usually just idle up or down a couple %. Like, I said, its a fluke.....a MOJO fluke!!! Hahaha!!!

Excuse me for asking ... but maybe someone has an unnecessary coupon for buying from bitmain (preferably, of course, for a large amount), but on my S9 one blade failed do not count for a beggar ... again, forgive me .. (I promise that the placement of the miner will be only here)

<snip>
I read a firmware update is supposed to be coming out to where we can point to any pool, so we can use on kano then.
Read the damn Halong thread. about 3/4 through the driver dev (one of the Forum mods who is a well known code writer and pool operator who in this thread must remain un-named) categorically states that the T1 MUST be pointed at an AB-enabled pool. Halong's hardware implementation has no 'off switch'. Period. End of story. Now, someone here is going to give Kano access to their T1 and there is noise about him even being sent one to use for proper AB code testing - something which has NOT been done. If that happens and there is still interest after testing by Kano the pool code will be modified to allow AB-enable machines. Until then , enjoy your fraudulently marketed and non-compatible T1 on the 2 or 3 pools that it will work with.

Sorry, I'm late! BBBBBLLLLLOOOOOCCCCCKKKKK!!!!! Thanks, ccgllc! P.S. - I feel like such a noob trying to figure out all this Linux stuff all over again... Been a Microslave too long. Good news is I hope to have Bitcoin Core up and running after I get back from a weekend anniversary getaway--no, my wife will not let me do any Bitcoin related stuff over this weekend.

Good news is I hope to have Bitcoin Core up and running after I get back from a weekend anniversary getaway--no, my wife will not let me do any Bitcoin related stuff over this weekend. Well, then you have just enough time to get your blockchain sync started... that will take a couple of days. Might as well let your computers work if you can't.

I'll push for that. I saw the notice about the 140GB upon initialization but didn't know the sync would ruin for days... My biggest fear is somehow losing my coin through the process somehow... That would be devastating.

Hey guys congrats on the new block!
I have a dumb question that I might already know the answer too but thought I'd ask you veterans.
Been mining on Kano since late Januaray, Since the first time I recieved a reward the payout has been decreasing less and less with every block found. The reward payout for this block is less then half of my first block reward recieved.
Is this because more people are joining the pool as blocks are found or am I doing something wrong?
Appreciate your time. Thanks!

Is that why the top left--usually green lights--were lit up like a traffic light?! Kano's electrodes were probably going off notifying him of a DDoS! Lo and behold it's just anxious miners. Miners gonna mine!

Yep. It's straight math--not meth. You can get 1 big payout every so often OR 1/10 of a big payout 10x as often. It just reduces variance to get smaller ones more often. As you may notice it "seems" to give more opportunities to find blocks under 100% too--this could probably be debunked by math, so I put 'seems' in quotes.

Ok so I deposited some money on NH I was going to send some extra power to this pool, I can't get it to work though, NH can't seem to connect to this pool on any port. Is there a reason for this?

Mining rentals are blocked from the pool - Mainly due to the possibility of malicious attacks (block withholding, bad shares, etc) Kano has an explanation of that somewhere.
