Ok so I deposited some money on NH I was going to send some extra power to this pool, I can't get it to work though, NH can't seem to connect to this pool on any port. Is there a reason for this?

Several months ago (last year?) when the pool was last this size a lot of it was rental and it turned out a large percentage of that rental hash was either maliciously or unintentionally returning very low quality hash results. Ergo all rental has since been banned from here.

I figured it out. I'm renting 1.3ph for 12 hours and pointing here.

We've been through the crappy hash that comes from NH & WH before.  I for one would prefer that you don't use it here on the Kano pool.  Kano has said he is blocking all rental hash so if you found a way to bypass it I'm sure he will have something to say about it one way or another.

I'll be more than happy to tell him what I'm doing if he inquires. Not trying to cause any problems, just figured the more hash the better. Should shorten my ramp up time for my normal hash rate as well. Not using NH or WH though

Interesting...it seemed when you posted "I deposited some money on NH I was going to send some extra power to this pool" that it was NH. Huh

Rented hash just about killed this pool not too long ago.  I even had a routine where I rented about 200TH and rolled the payouts back in continuously.  I lost money over time and gave it up.
Please pay attention to us "OGs". We've been there and done that. Rentals damn near killed us last year, and so I'm with Sonny. I would also prefer that you gift any rented hash to another pool.

IMHO  Kiss

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

@kano is there a way to verify if my current rented shares are trash shares or actually helpful? Currently have around 4-5hrs left on my 1.2ph order. Would be more than willing to redirect to a test pool for research if needed.

Gotta hand it to ya. At least you're seemingly upfront and honest about it.

Checking for bad or weak hashing is a statistical calculation and the amount of data needed is much more than would be represented by your rental.  I believe MRR is quite a bit different than NotSoNice and W.  I'm sure kanosan will chime in when he's up and let us know the scoop.

I agree.  The ban on rental hash is one of the nice features of this pool for many reasons.  Kano's call of course but I know he will make the right call

Just so you know. Kano had already banned some of the IP's that MRR uses. If this one slipped through, it probably won't last.

How many times must it be repeated here: Mature blocks are paid out when the next block after it is found.

Quite often it gets picked up by the next network block or so, but yes...another block along the way by anyone must be "cracked" before any payouts from the matured block come out.  It's always worked this way...ALWAYS!

And it should be noted that kano uses a very low fee on the pool payouts so while it may, sometimes, get confirmed before we hit our next block, we will always confirm any unconfirmed kanopool payouts in our blocks.

Quick question everyone. When ramping up: if a user loses a few hrs of time from powerloss/other reasons, does the ramp start over???

I personally had this happen at about 5 days in, and I didn't have to restart the ramp. However, I'm not sure if this has been changed.
Someone asked me about this, and I'd like to answer as accurate as possible.

No, it doesn't start over...it takes the same amount of ramp back up time as the ramp down time more or less depending on any changes to the pool hash rate.  With a short outage like that the existing ramp level doesn't drop to zero...it just dips a little.  The ramp back is just related to that dip.

It's most likely going to happen when the mempool is low like now but not a guarantee.  That's why Kano always includes our payouts in our next block as a precaution.
