Anyone connecting to the SG node.
There's major network problems from SG to the US for the past 50 minutes with that node.
I've been trying to get AWS to take notice of the problem but so far no response
I'll post again if I get a response or they fix the network issue.

I am curious, does anyone use mineral oil or BitCool liquid to cool your miners. If so can you PM me. I have some questions. I am battling heat and without cutting holes into the building I am renting I need other solutions. Thanks in advance.

I've heard there are issues with it eating plastic away.  I worked at Cray Research years ago and we liquid cooled the Cray 3 with Fluorinert (not sure of the spelling).  It was inert to just about everything and supposedly you could even drink it - not that any of us technicians tried it.  It also would not release a chemical cloud if a chip did burn up which I guess also can be a concern if anywhere near your living area.  I have not seen anything specifically about using that chemical, but obviously some pretty high ups did a lot of research years ago.  There are probably lots of other options too now since that was almost 20 years ago - but I see it is still available, so it must still be a viable product.

It appeared to be down for a couple of minutes when the block was hit.  I tried both on my phone and my desktop and could not get to the Kano Text Channel at first.

Well I'd expect that there were probably a very large number of people on Discord US-West sitting there wondering what was going on and of course Discord fixed it reasonably quickly.

But the Discord server channel runs well - we have 110 people who have joined so far which is awesome

I see where your logic is but we mine on a pool that gives the transaction fees back to the miners.  That is a huge perk of mining here.  After each halving it's the transaction fees that help make up the difference so let's cheer and dance for those fees

It's someone taking advantage of segwit's and core's anti-non-segwit design.

segwit transactions are coded in corecoin to be valued at 1/4 the fees of normal transactions.

Actually ... heh - when I looked at that code - it's almost 2 years ago now that they wrote it I think.
I should find that 4 and change it to 1 in our nodes ...

Wouldn't that negatively affect miner's profits by reducing the fees they get? SegWit gives transactions witness data, and the witness data doesn't count towards the 1 MB block maximum, which was the reasoning behind the 4x value.

No, the reason behind the 4x value is to attempt to force people away from non-segwit addresses and thus give momentum to get centrally controlled lightning networks in place where they can take fees from miners and direct them at centrally controlled transaction systems.
I wonder why a decentralised transaction system would consider such a change ... ... ... ... ... ...
