This is in progress, but probably we won't have a pool right at the start. Also Gapcoin is currently CPU only. Is TVT a shitcoin right now ? Dr Thomas Nicely I'm saddened to learn that Dr Thomas Nicely died Wednesday, September 11, 2019, as a result of injuries sustained in a recent car accident. Thomas Ray Nicely died September 11, 2019.
His internet site (trnicely.net) stayed up through November, but is defunct now. That site was the main source for news about prime gaps.
Is anyone planning to take over the dissemination of prime gap results?
In particular, the files allgaps.dat and merits.zip need to be kept updated, perhaps quarterly, at least annually, and made available at least on an ftp internet site.
The main problem would be in the checking of new gaps. A modern fast multicore machine would probably be needed.
If someone does this then please add a date code to the filename, perhaps merit201.zip and algap201.dat for the first ones in the year 2020. That way someone would not accidentally overwrite older data.
If there is already another internet site with this information, then what is the URL?

Works for me, a new fresh insight might help!
I'm still piddling around with making a mining pool as time allows, I used up all my "free credits" for the vps route. But I have a small personal server that im using to toy with. My time is limited but I have a much better grasp on what might be needed to make a functional pool.

Graham has sadly informed me that he is presently out of all cryptocurrency development, including Gapcoin, due to ongoing health issues. We hope to see him return at some point in the near future.  ... This truly amazing project (a genuinely excellent use of Bitcoin PoW technology) is continually thwarted at every turn it would seem ... Perhaps things will change for the better soon or math and cypto history is destined to be 'lost' forever. The potential with Gapcoin is still very great indeed. |

I didnt realise we had someone 'famous' on the forum like that, probably a few people kinda undercover with this level of knowledge around who I dont know about exactly. I remember the Pentium bug from the time, it was a big deal but also easily missable until important I guess. Ive used prime number tools for cpu stress testing, so might take up this wallet as its been forever since I was able to CPU mine coins, I have a spare modern 8 core intel cpu that would be great at this maybe and even 12 cores are available from old servers for good prices second hand last I looked. I wish BTC had never moved on from being widely distributed in mining with full involvement of anyone and everyone possibility.
