WHIRLPOOL--
JoinCoin uses Whirlpool, not Whirlpoolx. Spell out "whirlpool" completely in the wallet configuration file. Type "algo" : "whirl" in the mining configuration file, or "-a whirl" on the launch line. The Opening Page (OP) for JoinCoin states the Whirlpool is the default wallet algo, so you perhaps could skip it in the wallet configuration. I did not.
My first attempt was with pentablake algo. I do not know why it did not work. Pentablake was very new at the launch for JoinCoin. I only changed the algo configurations between the two attempts. My GTX 960 runs at full speed (currently) mining Lyra2v2 and Quark. --scryptr
P.S. I now have 2 JoinCoins. --scryptr
I just went by what the help said, maybe I over looked something, but the --help said whirlpoolx --algo=whirlpoolx Doesn't really matter was only playing around as a test. No real interest in any of those coins. Thanks for your help.

I just added whirl (old whirlpool) in release 71. Run with: -a whirl This is the old whirlpool algo. You can use it to mine joincoin.

I have sendt a mail to nicehash support. I think I will release my 4.5 MHASH opencl quark kernal opensource for 4BTC. (amd r9 280x) 125% faster than the public opencl sgminer version. With some more work I think I can push it to 10MHASH. 10MHASH would be 500% faster than the opensource version. Rewrite the branching / rewrite pallas groestl to 512 + some tricks from ccminer. 500% would probably cost around 10-15BTC extra to opensource.

Nicehash/westhash is hashing over 60 GIGHAHASH of quark every day. Even if I publish a miner that does 10MHASH on the 280x nobody will use it, because the russian closed source miner is doing 14MHASH++ My opensource NVIDIA quark miner is doing 28.5 MHASH on the 980ti. My closed source is over 30MHASH

Please, try to understand that we will opensource all the jobs and miners will be able to use these improvements elsewhere, so it is not only exclusive work for us, but for community too. We do not benefit so much as for example, if we had closed source miner that could be used only on NiceHash.
Wait with OpenCL offers for now, we need to put sgminer in NiceHash Miner first.
But if you have CUDA optimizations, we are ready to discuss the deal now!

nobody will use it
If we believe that nobody would use the improved kernel (just like you suspect), then of course, we are not interested to buy it. We are only interested in improvements, that would be actually useful for large amount of miners. That is why it is important for which algorithm the improvement is.

Well the small miners with a few gpu's will use it. Perfect for the nicehash miner. The big miners already have faster private kernals, and they don't use Nicehash. They solomine/ create their own private pools. The difference between the opensource miner and the best private kernals can be as much as 700%. Mining on AMD with the opensource is not profitable. Mining with the private kernals is a million dollar business..

Would you be angry if I modify and use your groestl opensource and give you 0 BTC?

If I didn't want people to use it, I wouldn't have opensourced it. If by doing that you break the licensing, that's a completely different matter. If you sleep well after doing that, that depends on your moral.

in that case, your bounties are rather small... I would like to pay you 2 BTC to make an opensource quark miner that does 45MHASH on the 980ti. (50%) faster. This is not a JOKE. This is a real offer. If nicehash is also paying 2BTC you get 4BTC.

I have other opensource works (crypto unrelated) in the same situation. Still I continue to write opensource programs. I just see past the direct and sudden profit. BTW, I don't understand where you are going: you did release opensource code, didn't you?

Yes, and I don't complain when other people use and improve my work to get a few beers in tips. I like opensource. I believe opensource is the only way to make this cryptocurrency thing work. We need to spread the hash to avoid that the biggest farms get 90% of the network and the profit..
