By your logic, ASICMINER is worth around 10% of total BTC.

If ASICMINER or anyone else gets over 50% of the network hashpower, then the BTC price will crash even if the controlling party doesn't do anything nefarious.

well if the stock is trading at 1btc 400,000 shares is 400,000 btc which is ~4% of total btc.

What if ASICMINER goes through a Bitcoin-style bubble and hits 10 BTC each? Wink

*fervently knocks on wood*

One consideration is how important their underwriting of network security is... so if they end up with ~1/3 of the total hash would it be reasonable to say the company is worth 1/3 of total btc, or perhaps you could say network security is half of all btc value, so controling 1/3 of total hash is worth 1/6 of total btc. Just some idle thoughts.
interesting.   control that much of "future mining of bitcoin" not ALL BITCOIN.   and the would be "control XX% of future bitcoin mining AS OF THIS POINT IN TIME".    or in your assumption.   yes the whole world would stand idly by if you could control a billion dollars with a 2 million investment.........

Not all 400,000 shares are/will float, and it's trading at 0.85 on BitFunder.

Less supply on btct.co. Arbitrage isn't easy as transfers are manual

Currently going for 33 BTC each. I think there might be a few snipers, so final price might be more around the 40 BTC range.

hmm good call, although that one isn't as ideal for my purposes as the other, since the limit to transfer shares is more than I'd risk having on any exchange. With BTC-TC I transfer the shares every time I pick up another 50. At that price though, I can't resit. I'm digging out my weexchange password as we speak.   Grin

I really think the final price will be around 45-55 BTC per unit.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

At 70 BTC... it makes more sense to buy 70 shares of ASiCMINER! Tongue

By the time my Weexchange account gets funded, the price will be the same as btc-tc. I'm not even gonna bother.

Not that I like weexchange, but I was able to fund it and buy within 1.5 hours.

Look at how many shares are for sell on BitFunder. Anyway, as mining become more and more difficult, it could go higher in the next weeks.

This is crazy.
10GH/s for 60BTC?
Just a thought: 50,000 GH/s of chips at 10GH/s per blade = 5,000 blades.
5,000 blades at 60 BTC = 300,000 BTC

---> .75 BTC per share from selling this batch, minus some costs of course. Meanwhile the
next batch gets produced and the old ones are hashing away for AM. Do i have a big mistake
in my calculation, or are the shares undervalued even at 1.2 BTC/share?

Donatioins always welcome Wink

Wow there is a 600+ share sell wall @ 0.9 BTC on Bitfunder. Someone is cashing out two weeks too soon.  Grin

Looks like I'm up for the night digging out cold wallets and waiting for confirmations.

my own calculations indicate a conservative minimum price of 2.7 btc/share

I think that the 60 BTC per device is too much, the first adopters pay the most of course. I think the realistic price is around 20-30 BTC per device, you have to count the difficulty rising in the future...

but of course the company is up to a great start and the shares will definitely be valued around 1 BTC...
