It never was possible to "stake" BTC... this thread is about "staking" your Bitcoin address... basically, post your address using a message signed with the private key of that address to prove "ownership".

It can be useful later to prove your identity should your account become compromised (lost password/hacked etc)

Everyone can stake a bitcoin address to prove ownership but look at your feedback page, I don't see a stake message now can help you.

Take a look at his trust page. I think he won't have to restore anything. He already has 1 signed message, and if it belonged to him, then he probably would know about it.

Posting just your address without signing a message won't benefit you. You need to sign a message with that address to prove it's yours.

If only stake address without signing message then there should have no problem. Signing message here will help only to himself/herself either she/he is doing correct or not. Staking signature doesn't proof latter who is the owner of the account. Latter the person should have sign a new message when it is in question. And the person BTC address should be stake any where in the forum. Even that can be out of this thread. Hope you got the point.

And while it isn't strictly necessary... it is "good practice"... because often users will stake an address from a "custodial" service, not realising that they can't actually sign a message from that address until it is too late (ie. when their account gets hacked and they're trying to recover it)

By signing a message now, it reduces the chances of this being a problem later, as they've already done it once. It doesn't really prove anything to anyone except the person trying to stake the address... ie. that they can actually do it.

Yes, it is right that if anyone post their signature then the person would be able to verify either the person can verify their signature or not. And the person can make change if need anything to solve the issue which can save the person from any unexpected happening.

You wallet id has been quoted. Can you sign message for this wallet ID? It seems blockchain or exchange wallet. If it is blockchain or exchange wallet and if you do not have the private key then you would not be able to sign message. And if you cant sign message then this quote will not help you anything.
