1101  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Ilya Lichtenstein Admits to Being Bitfinex Hacker in Court on: August 04, 2023, 04:19:17 AM
@suchmoon. This information might be incorrect, however, I remember that there was also a situation where Bitfinex partnered with Bitgo as a security solution and that it would have been impossible to steal the funds without both keys held by someone from Bitfinex and Bitgo to sign a transaction. There were speculations that the hack was an inside job but they were ignored by Bitfinex and the exchange's own users.
1102  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Big Short movie, BTC edition? on: August 04, 2023, 03:42:57 AM
I have been bullish on the cryptospace recently, however, there is a rumor that CZ and Tether are fighting. I speculate when this person owns the biggest exchange, this person might have the capability to decide in what state of circumstances where Tether might be in 1 year. This might end with another big dump on our faces.

I will collect more information and share updates in this thread.

Isn't it interesting that USDt is being pressured down (slightly, within 10bps, just to push market makers to react), and USDc, the main competitor that you would expect being gaining from the situation, is redeemed heavily nevertheless, while suddenly a competitor born 2 days ago is getting it all?
Exactly! It feels definitely organic and not manipulative at all.
Some people never learn.

1103  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US Supreme Court Ruled in Favor of Coinbase on: August 04, 2023, 02:49:03 AM
@zasad@. However, there might be a problem with that definition because uncle Gary can declare any project that has issued a token a fraud and a ponzi scheme. Ethereum, Uniswap, Sushiswap, Curve, Convex and many projects in DeFi issued a token but they never scammed the buyers. Is it right for Gary Gensler to crackdown on them because for the old holders of those coins to profit, new buyers must come in?

I reckon that you are one of the people in this forum who knows that a project that has issued a token should not be automatically declared a ponzi scheme.
1104  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: August 04, 2023, 02:22:40 AM
@babygun. What is head scratching here is Binance left certain jurisdictions voluntarily maybe to avoid any legal battles, however, they are staying in America despite knowing that there might be the risk that uncle Gary might start a legal battle. Why is this? Why is America very much important for CZ and he is beginning to be so annoying for uncle Gary and the SEC?
1105  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US Supreme Court Ruled in Favor of Coinbase on: August 03, 2023, 08:18:38 AM
....

The SEC and several states argue that the product constitutes a unregistered security offering. Coinbase claims staking is not a security, maintaining that it is a "core part of ensuring the cryptoeconomy functions for hundreds of millions of users around the globe."

Calling staked coins "a security" might be considered an extreme compliment. Most POS tokens/coins are really just glorified Ponzi schemes, if we are really honest, is this correct or not?

The ponzi scheme works differently. There, old users make a profit at the expense of attracted money from new users. If ecosystem tokens are used and have value, then this is no longer a ponzi scheme. And staking is also different, you can create your own node and maintain the network to get a reward for it.

___
SEC asked Coinbase to halt trading in everything except bitcoin, CEO says
Request would have meant ‘the end of the crypto industry in the US’, according to Brian Armstrong
https://www.ft.com/content/1f873dd5-df8f-4cfc-bb21-ef83ed11fb4d

In the cryptospace, calling some type of coin or token a ponzi scheme would open an argument that other coins and tokens of a different type might also be ponzi schemes. This is reality.

Also to take the argument further, from a ponzi's definition, assets of any type traded in markets also of any type can also be considered ponzi schemes, including bitcoin, stocks and futures. For older investors to make money, new money should enter the market.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: August 03, 2023, 07:08:30 AM
Guys who are saying how bad Biden is and how he's unsuitable for being elected, how can you comment on the current odds?

Do you think all of them bettors are stupid and they don't know what you know? Do you think you are aware of some hidden truth that others aren't aware of? Well, that's great. Place your bets on Trump then. Today the odds are good for you.

Only if you don't want to lose your bets, don't do that. That's my advice.

Why are you angrily forcing people to bet on Trump? No one in this thread knows anything better than what we read from the news and speculate what might really be happening. Also, the smart bettors would only place their bets after each of the political parties have declared their nominees. Trump presently with those odds is certainly not a very good bet considering that he is also being indicted with various cases.
1107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 03, 2023, 06:09:01 AM
Thanks for reminding me, Hueristic.

I would love to participate in this year. Maybe I need some help at the beginning because its my first Fantasy League but that are my only concerns right now.
In one of our posts you already mentioned some points that would be interesting for me aswell: Buyin, Start, 2nd league?!?!

Lets goo!!!!
So first thing we need to decide is deadline for keeping a spot locked up.

1) Spot lockup deadline

I vote 3 weeks prior to draft day.

2) date of draft day

I vote Sat or Sun before kickoff thursday.
I tend to goto casino friday nights.

3) Any Veto's on Yahoo and Seek3r joining the league?

I'm guessing this is a non issue but I want it to be fair and impartial.
I vote allow both unequivocally.

4) Keep me as Commish?

I vote yes unless someone else wants it and then I may change my vote.

5) Keep DW as treasurer?

I vote yes as he has done a stellar job the last 2 years.

6) should we go into debating and voting for rule changes before the player list is set and dues are collected?

I'm unsure but I would lean yes as we can still get a majority vote without having everyone locked in.

1) Agreed, but 2 weeks before is also okay.

2) Okay with me. We do not want our commissioner lost in a casino without internet on draft day heheheheee.

3) No veto.

4) Yes.

5) Yes.

6) This thread is always open, no choice but to vote yes hehe.

In any case, sharing this old article about football being a combat sport. Some of you might like it.

As I said earlier, football is basically simulated war, but with a ball. The offensive line and defensive line is the main war front. The line is arguably the most important part of a football game, protecting the quarterback, giving the running back and full backs room to run, and more.

The quarterback is your general. He commands the players, making the most important plays with the ball. He delegates to the wide receivers, tight end, running backs, blocking assignments from all positions, play calling, audible, and all. Running backs, receivers, and tight ends are your skill players. For the most part, they’re responsible for scoring in a variety of ways.

Defense is the same boat. An defensive line is the front. The linebackers are the generals. Secondary protects the endzone. All have similar goals to the offense, just the opposite.

1108  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: August 03, 2023, 05:47:50 AM
News update.

Since when does the government care about the consumers? For the skeptical me, it appears that they cannot charge Binance with anything without fighting a legal battle that they might lose. Their only choice might be to presently make it appear that they are being sensible hehehe.

A fine is a victory for CZ. This is a bullish fine hehehehe.

The United States Department of Justice is reportedly considering charging cryptocurrency exchange Binance with fraud, but hesitating based on costs to consumers.

According to an Aug. 2 Semafor report citing people familiar with the matter, Justice Department officials are concerned about an indictment against Binance causing a run on the exchange similar to what happened with FTX in November 2022. They are reportedly considering fines or non-prosecution agreements for Binance rather than criminal charges in an effort to reduce the harm to consumers.

Binance was already reportedly the target of a criminal probe in the U.S. for allegedly violating the country’s sanctions on Russia. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission also filed a lawsuit against the crypto exchange in June for allegedly offering unregistered securities and operating illegally, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission targeted the exchange and CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao in March for allegedly violating trading and derivatives regulations.

1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RFK Jr Says He Purchased Bitcoin For His Kids on: August 03, 2023, 04:57:13 AM
I wonder what happened next - RFK bought BTC for his dogs or a turtle or RFK ordered a pizza and paid for it with BTC? I think that too much dust is being raised about this man who has a chance to become president only if the current president does not live to see the next election or the one who attempted a coup ends up in prison.

Correct. This might be why he is trying to make big promises and gather as much people to support him for his campaign because he might already know that he has no chance hehehe. Also, promises of a currency being backed by bitcoin is very stupid because it will not work in the American economy which need times of inflationary periods to grow. Maybe he forgot about the failure and abandonment of the gold standard hehehe.

The skeptical me thinks these corrupt people make some money in these campaigns that they know they will lose. However, his free press for bitcoin was good, I reckon.

I agree with @DireWolfM14 on having 2 payouts. If I remember correctly, everything went to the winner last year. This season we have 2 more recruits. Their entry fees can go to my opponent as 2nd prize after the final.
1111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 02, 2023, 03:56:53 AM
The BMF belt is retarded. I don't like seeing UFC moving further away from the sport towards some WWE-type entertainment.

That might be the UFC's new tactic for marketing hehehe. WWE and the UFC has merged to become one company operated by the Endeavor Group. The CEO of Endeavor Group is Ari Emannuel who is a super agent who represents the biggest stars in hollywood movies.

Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment has agreed to merge with UFC to form a new publicly traded company controlled by Endeavor Group, the companies announced Monday morning.

Endeavor will own a 51% stake in the new combat sports and entertainment company, while WWE shareholders will have the remaining 49%, according to the terms of the agreement.

Also, does anyone know the old HBO show Entourage? The characters are based on real people. The agent in this show is based on Ari Emanuel and the main character is based on Mark Wahlberg hehe. Mark Wahlberg is also a holder of some shares in the UFC.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RFK Jr Says He Purchased Bitcoin For His Kids on: August 02, 2023, 02:10:50 AM
The skeptics of RFK should challenge him hehehe. It might be good for some people from the bitcoin community to ask Robert Kennedy for the transaction hash of each of those 2 BTC that were sent to each of his children. He should not be lying because it can easily be proven by using a blockchain explorer. However, if he is lying, he should pray that not one person would starting demanding for the transaction hash hehehe.
Doing that would make thins worse because RFK would easily deflect by saying it is a violation of privacy of his children and that is against bitcoin ethos and wouldn't provide anything. Then you wouldn't know if he is lying about this or having bought bitcoin in first place. Grin

However, doing that would also be his enemies' chance to call him a liar and the bitcoin community to call him a larper hehehehe. Also, someone should tell him that he bought the wrong cryptocoin if he wanted more anonymity and privacy. However with a warning, the Monero community is very small it will not help him collect much supporters for his campaign hehehe.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will China takeover as the leader in blockchain and start the new bull market? on: August 02, 2023, 01:51:58 AM
News update.

I am not quite certain if China's plans for their blockchain ambitions will pump Conflux and the other Chinese projects presently being traded in the cryptospace, however, I am quite certain that this will be one of the biggest storylines on the peak of next bull market. This is why as investors it might be good to begin your research on Chinese projects.

One of the next biggest pumps might be the pumps being caused by the new Chinese Ethereum storyline hehehe. It was Neo on 2017, my speculation is it will be on Coinflux on 2025.

In yet another example of the country’s commitment, China is moving forward with a new blockchain infrastructure plan for one of its largest cities. However, the city’s governor announced the plan and what it could mean in the short- and long-term future.

Specifically, China is set to develop a blockchain infrastructure in Shanghai by the year 2025. Nevertheless, the official government update stated that the plan is to “strengthen the application of blockchain in the real economy.” As well as using that application in other sectors as well.

Source https://watcher.guru/news/china-to-develop-blockchain-infrastructure-in-shanghai-by-2025

China have a restrictive sphere on crypto. Has made it difficult for people to hold and trade crypto if not illegal. That way China would not be able to contribute much to the global crypto aspiration but as you mentioned, Chinese local crypto could be a cash cow for we outsiders. As they have limited option, any of considered "Chinese" crypto would rise when the bull comes. I might keep a little stock of conflux on my next buy.

Similar to every pump that have occured in the cryptospace, they always started with a storyline and China's blockchain ambition will certainly be one of the biggest and bullish storylines during the next bull market on 2025. As an investor it would be a mistake if you did not buy some Chinese projects' tokens while much of the cryptospace market is in the stage of disbelief.

I have no comment, only a question. Why would Sam use this wallet to deploy a contract if it was really him?

Maybe it was not really him; there might be something going on under the ground. For someone who has crypto knowledge, deploying a smart contract with an address that he is already familiar with will be a big mess to his name, adding to the already trouble going on around him. Either someone else has access to that address and might have made everything seem as if it was done by Sam in order to prevent suspicion from coming back to the real person.

There are a lot of possibilities here, and it could also be Sam, but he forgot he was using a wallet that was already known to him before he realized it was already late.

It might be Sam, it might not be Sam, however, it might also be someone who wants everyone to think that it is Sam hehehe. But what would be the real reason behind this? Is this a demonstration on the power of DeFi and DEX of listing anything and for the SEC to begin cracking down on them? Is this a message for Coinbase that their chain is not safe? Everything about this is head shaking.
1115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: August 01, 2023, 05:20:38 AM
Also, Bob Arum might presently be looking at the mirror and shouting at himself for letting go of Crawford from Top Rank heheheehe. Arum should have treated Terence more respectfully.

He only have himself to blame because if only he listened much sooner and tried to help Crawford in cementing his legacy, then he could've made another million by now.

I bet he laughed as well during those times where Crawford was flying solo and tried to make a negotiation with Al Haymon and failed, well, look what happened now. Crawford became a successful boxer and became the first boxer to be an undisputed champion in two separate divisions.

Hehe agreed and in the following months he will be talking to Al Haymon again for another fight vs. another boxer being promoted by PBC, Jermell Charlo. I reckon Haymon and Charlo should cancel negotiations with Canelo and begin a new one for a bigger fight vs. Crawford. There will certainly be more money for everyone included in the deal hehehe.

With Terence Crawford the official king of the welterweight division, his trainer Brian McIntyre talks about what could come next for the Nebraska native. McIntyre says he didn’t quite hear what Crawford was saying to Jermell Charlo after dropping Errol Spence during the live fight, but admits their willingness to move up to junior middleweight to face him.

1117  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: August 01, 2023, 03:20:41 AM
This is a very strange news update and very shocking if confirmed true.

In any case, the story. There is this token called Bald issued in Base, Coinbase's Ethereum layer 2 network. It became popular to a small group of traders and pumped by more than 50x from the first day of issuance. However, it appears to be a rugpull when the developer removed most of the liquidity from Uniswap and sent the ETH to Binance. There is nothing strange with this hehehehee. The strange part of the story is it was discovered that the deployer of the contract for Bald tokens also had transactions from a wallet speculated to be owned by Sam Bankman-Fried.

I have no comment, only a question. Why would Sam use this wallet to deploy a contract if it was really him?

All transactions and discoveries are in this thread shared by @MidasFoolsGold.

On the other details mentioned in this thread, I would like to vote for the same donation amount to the pot of .0025 similar to last season and also vote to use the same website Yahoo Fantasy. All of the other changes being discussed within the fantasy league, I will vote yes of most of the participants agrees and will also vote yes.

Also, welcome to @yahoo62278 and @SouthPark's victi, I mean recruit hehehe.
1119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: RFK Jr Says He Purchased Bitcoin For His Kids on: July 31, 2023, 07:17:13 AM
He might not get the nomination to become the Democrats' presidential candidate in their Democratic national convention, however, he is giving free advertisment for bitcoin hehehe.

Also, assuming that Robert Kennedy, a politician, really purchased bitcoins for his kids as part of their inheritance, I reckon that we might be witnessing bitcoin's mainstream acceptance as a collectible.
It's election season and it's a time to sell all kinds of lies to electorates and politician would say all sorts of things when they are canvassing for votes. I have never believed Robert F. Kennedy promises that his administration would promote the acceptance of Bitcoin in America if he becomes president. I do not believe that he's holding a sizable amount of Bitcoin, I do not believe that he bought 2 BTC for each of his children. I think RFK is only saying all these to rally support from crypto enthusiasts in America.

The skeptics of RFK should challenge him hehehe. It might be good for some people from the bitcoin community to ask Robert Kennedy for the transaction hash of each of those 2 BTC that were sent to each of his children. He should not be lying because it can easily be proven by using a blockchain explorer. 1120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: July 30, 2023, 04:51:11 AM
Crawford stop Spence in the 9th round in what could be considered a one-sided match

I am very much shocked. After all the trashtalk and the hype, we have witnessed who is the real king of welterweight boxing.

Spence punches seems doesn’t affect at Crawford even with solid power punches hit. Crawford skin is so thick like a crocodile that’s why he can still manage to land a solid counter punches despite he recently received a solid blow from Spence.

Spence is no match with Crawford style because he was completely countered on every attack that he made. Crawford accuracy in power punches show how he dominated Spence on this match. This fight turns out to be a one sided fight. I’m regretting now that I bet small amount to Crawford just because I respect Spence aggressiveness can destpry Crawford rythm on his counter.

Agreed. There is nothing to watch in welterweight anymore if Terence Crawford fights Boots Ennis and also wins it, I reckon. Is it possible for Crawford to move to light middleweight and challenge Jermell Charlo? It might be easier from Crawford to be the first 3 division unified champion than Naoya Inoue hehehehe.

Also, Bob Arum might presently be looking at the mirror and shouting at himself for letting go of Crawford from Top Rank heheheehe. Arum should have treated Terence more respectfully.
