1161  Other / Archival / Re: What is the easiest way to explain bitcoin to a regular person? on: February 21, 2023, 03:09:51 PM
Has anyone here had troubles explaining bitcoin or crypto to a normal person?

We don't want the word normal to be taken too out of context, because we are more than sure that we all know what a "normie" is.

For us, we used freebitco.in first and it basically showed us everything we need to know from a beginner's standpoint.

Does anyone here have stories about sharing their favorite hobby/profession with someone else who either has no idea or no interest?

If bitcoin is supposed to be the future of finance, then the whole world will need to know at one point or another. Basically bitcoin and crypto education is borderline mandatory in our honest opinion.

What do you all think?

Thank you.
I think the easiest way to introduce a regular person to bitcoin is by letting them first understand cryptocurrency and going further to explain to them that bitcoin is a liquid asset for securing future income. I will tell them that it is a form of trading that is that is outside the control of any group of people. I will also inform them that with bitcoin,
there is no need for any third-party involvement in transactions. I will teach them that bitcoin is a digital currency which does not require any central authority, like any governmental agencies or banks. I will show them through practical examples the importance of securing for the future through bitcoin.

I do agree with it. Potter must be sacked. Potter recently claimed that the main problem was not him but the players itself. It can't even be accepted. Potter has also become the worst coach in the history of premier league. This can't even be accepted. Potter didn't have mentality to coaching chelsea. I vote for zidane, enrique or mourinho to be a new coach for chelsea but not for potter
To go or not to go? Chelsea risks relegation with their consistent poor performance week after week if Potter stays. Alot of fans have said things like "he is not ready for the job," "Chelsea needs a top manager that can salvage the situation," "he is a mid-table manager,". The fans are so impatient, and I understand.
However, they should remember that Arsenal's Arteta faced the same situation at the beginning of his management in Arsenal but look at him now and the team he has built up.
1163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Do Gamblers Do This? on: February 21, 2023, 02:19:21 PM
It can never be me until it is you. This is what I think is the thought that runs through our minds when we gamble or even read to sad gambling stories. We think to ourselves that we are smarter and wiser than those who pour their hard-earned cash into gambling. We think that we are exempt, that we would get out before we reach that point.
But what we forget is that gambling is designed to rope you emotionally that before logic comes into play, you may have had already suffered significant losses and on the path to ruining your life. It is a psychological trick, a game of the mind. This is why, I do my best to be open and speak about my gambling to friends and family. They will always act as my voice of reason.

1165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reasons for holding bitcoins? on: February 20, 2023, 11:26:01 PM
My questions is people keeping bitcoin for too long and begins to hear story?
What's the secret that's different from taking profit?
Is that long term bitcoin don't experience losses?
Bitcoin is not my only source of income. Infact I consider bitcoin not as a source of income but a store of value with potential for future increase. So, I do not even think twice about why I hold.
I just buy and forget about it. It is like buying gold or any other precious metal that you fancy. You buy it and keep it and turn your focus towards something else knowing that it can never depreciate in value. Despite the volatility of the market, my confidence stems from the fact that it can never go to zero.

I would have loved to know the guidelines you used in teaching them about bitcoin, the age range of the kids, and if you tested or will test their knowledge of bitcoin in your next session with them. The bitcoin and cryptocurrency ecosystem is so vast that introducing children to it cannot go wrong. It serves as the foundation for learning about
how the economy works, personal finance, and others. The caveat here is to take it slowly, teach them at their pace and according to their age. Teach them about the pros and cons and the risks associated with each.
1167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give it a break. on: February 20, 2023, 09:52:22 PM
Yes, give yourself a break. It is okay. You mustn't gamble all of your money at a go. Clarity and direction birthed during the break. It is akin to taking a nap after a stressful day, you wake up refreshed. As the psychological benefits which I have mentioned, breaks from gambling serves as a regulator for gambling and a measure of your degree of addiction.
Someone who struggles with it is likely moderated to severally addicted to gambling. Watch it and if you have to speak with someone about it to hold you accountable or remind you to take a break, please do.
1168  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 18, 2023, 07:40:22 PM
The match was really entertaining. At first, I thought probably the match was going to be one sided, but that did not happen. Napoli played well and deserved the win. At the same time, Sassuolo also played well in this match. Only if the finishing from Sassuolo was a little better, I think the final scoreline could have been different. In this match, both teams have hit the goalpost multiple times, imagine if those went in. And also a lot of offside decisions through VAR. Overall the match was entertaining.

At this point, I believe it is kind of pointless to actually still hope to give Napoli any competition for the title. They are not going to get so many points in such a short time. Napoli is also not going to lose or give up the advantage of having so many points.

Yes, Sassuolo played brilliant and that goal shouldn't have been dismissed. I saw no offsides. I kinda not like this VAR thingy.
On the other hand, such stellar performance from Napoli was our expectations as football fans. These two guys, Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen are in top form now and no one can stop them. I would say Napoli is very lucky to have them at this time and they have been instrumental in helping them win (I believe it has happened already) the Scudetto.
1169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be a successful trader? on: February 18, 2023, 06:34:35 PM
There are many ways to become a successful trader. One of the most credible ways I have learned over time is to focus on a viable trading strategy instead of on the profit because in the long run, a great strategy will rake in profit. Additionally, start small. Invest a little bit of money first after you have don tons of demo trading.
The importance of having a personal trading plan cannot be over-emphasized. I firmly believe that it is the bedrock to every successful trade. Every successful trader is patient, know when to trade and when to hold-off of trading.
1170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do not invest in crypto from loans. on: February 18, 2023, 06:15:57 PM
so in my opinion, don't invest from borrowed money because there will be potential losses, what do you think, do you agree with me?
Investing in crypto should never originate from loan. Taking a loan to invest in crypto is like taking out a loan for your wedding. You will end up thinking on how to pay back the loan rather than focusing on providing for your family. As a crypto investor you shouldn't think of taking loan you will be thinking on how to pay back rather than strategizing a invest more.
It could lead to depression, anxiety and stress especially as a beginner. I will make you think that crypto is a scam. For these and many more reasons, I totally discourage the taking out a loan to invest in crypto.
1171  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If You Could Start Over, How Would you Learn Day Trading on: February 18, 2023, 02:23:05 PM
I did a lot of demo trading for almost a year before venturing into the live trading environment. My concern was that I wasn't good enough and was scared of falling for trading scams. I made up my mind to figure things out on my own.

In retrospect, if I could start all over again, I won't do demo trading for that long, I will try out my own strategies in live trading while being guided by classic trading strategies. I will equally find successful and well experienced trading mentor as well. And I will make sure I stick to my daily plan on achieving my goal during the trading process. At the end of each trading day, I will carry out a review of to see if I did right and how I can maximize my profit. I usually waited until the weekend to do this.

Buying Bitcoin is just the beginning the true test of your friendship is what you do after you have assisted him him investing in Bitcoin. It is such a wide ecosystem that you have to first in my opinion teach him about the security risks involved and how to protect his assets before anything else.
1173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 17, 2023, 07:31:42 PM
Arsenal appear to have established themselves as the favorites to win the Premier League title this season after leading the table by many points from Manchester City.

But Arsenal did not realize that the burden they were carrying was too heavy, and that it was like an elephant sitting on a fragile branch that would eventually fall without realizing it.

It is clear that it is not an easy matter to continue to get consistent performance in the Premier League because the competition is very tight. Every team will try their best to win points in the second half of the season and that is their goal when they start the match. Arsenal then dropped to 2nd place after losing to Manchester City in goals, and now they need to get their good form back to take top place.
Arsenal are about to repeat the same mistake they made last year. If you can recall well, last year when Arsenal were trying to get to the top 4 they were fourth but then they failed to win the games before the head to head and then lost the head to head losing their position as a result.  It seems like we are about to see a repeat of it. It is game over for them if they can't become clinical in both the attack and defense in their forth coming matches.
1174  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The 4 trading fears and how to overcome them on: February 17, 2023, 01:17:04 PM
Every trader has and definitely would have felt these fears in them which often hinders their business minds. The fear of being wrong has made many traders to not follow their intuition to invest. In addition, if one allows the fear of being wrong to overtake them, they will play it too safe or stay in their comfort zone which will result in a delay in achieving one's goal. I say, make mistakes, be wrong, learn from your mistakes and make it right.

As a trader, to overcome these trading fears, practice good trading habits and have a fail-proof strategy(ies). Ensure thar you stick to the trading rules you set for yourself. Adopt a mindset of focusing on the long-term, it may not be easy but with determination and self-motivation, you will reach your goals.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting fraud in Brazil 😦 on: February 17, 2023, 12:40:23 PM
Sports betting fraud, I would say is as old as man's existence. Is it closely related to greed. It kills the game of soccer especially in the not-so-popular leagues where it is frequently committed.
True soccer fans with keen observation and experience in the sport know that most of the fouls committed during the game do not just happen. It is premeditated. In our local league some time ago, a leaked audio record revealed that a player who plays the defence was received a huge amount of money to cause penalty against his own team during the tournament.
And he actually did, and his team lost in the game. Sports betting fraud happens anywhere and everywhere there the game occur. And as we know it requires a group of people to execute it. Most players are gamblers even some coaches and referees. So, fraud in sport betting is inevitable.

1177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 16, 2023, 01:34:08 PM
It was a beautiful victory to Real Madrid yesterday to maintain the second position in the la Liga league table, because many people predicted for draw match 0-0. But Marco Asenio open the goalpost at 8th minutes to reduced the strength of their opponent so that other players can have access to positive opportunity, which they did to embraced two penalty from Elche. Real Madrid didn't allowed Elche strikers to have access to their goalpost than to made their defense difficult for them through out the match that made them to defeated Elche 4-0 to caused heavy celebration in the camp of Real Madrid.
When Asensio broke the Elche's defence to score in the 7th minute of the match, I knew this was going to be one of the easiest matches that Real Madrid would have ever played. And true to that, I wasn't shocked when I watched the 3 more goals roll in. It was very obvious that they were the dominant side.
They had most of the ball possessions, they were mostly in the 18box of the Elche and had most shots on target. I would have loved to see another player take the second penalty shot instead of Benzema or may be the plan was for him to score a hattrick.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: February 16, 2023, 01:07:05 PM
I don't really think it is the fault of players for all these poor performance.  A team can have quality players but if the coach is unable to manage them their wont be positive result in the team performance. For a team to have players that are not weak and still perform poorly I believe the problem is from the coach. If coach like xavi were able to manage the set of players he met in the team as a coach. It is not a surprise to me that Chelsea will lose to Dortmund,  the result is common  and nothing new.
Disappointingly Chelsea lost despite their efforts in the first and second half of the game. They created chances and had some fair shots on target, but I am going to give it Dortmund the goal in the 62 minutes was unexpected and one of the best in the tournament that I have seen so far. It was a difficulty run but a great goal one that we would remember for a long time.
We are sure to seem more goals like this due to Chelsea's poor defence if the lapses are not fixed ASAP.

This is the just what I was looking for. A colleague has been battling gambling addiction and now I have shared the link with him. In the coming weeks I will be speaking to high school kids on the danger of gambling addicition and the articles in the blog section will coming in handy in helping me prepare adequately for my presentation.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chasing losses - Double down bet or Bet twice? on: February 16, 2023, 12:32:22 PM
I always have a dilemma when it comes to chasing losses in gambling. When I’m in the good mood, I preferred betting using the same amount multiple times until I hit a winning streak to recover my lose but when I’m in bad mood, I usually increase my bet size equals to my total lose so that I can recover quickly.

What do you typically do when you are on chasing loss situation?
One of the root causes of gambling addiction can be traced to down to chasing losses. It is like the hangman's noose.
In my conversations with gambler's, some prefer to bet twice, and some others prefer to double down bet with the intention to recover the initial loss which they know is difficult to achieve but can found a way to convince themselves that it is possible.
Once, I double down bet and ended up incurring more losses. I learnt from personal experience that double down bet is way worse than betting twice as your chances of incurring more losses becomes high. Always know when to walk away, you would leave to fight another day.
