Let me ask you one simple question. Would you have taken our money in case pirate had payed his debt? - YES you would have taken it!

Sorry to have to repeat this (as I had already dropped it), but I just realized another great point to the ridiculousness of this logical fallacy and I think it's important to share:

"If ___A___ you would have ___B___ so you're a __C____ even if you didn't __B____"

You're basically saying that someone is a murderer before they ever murdered because you *think* they would have murdered in a particular situation that never happened. Feeling bad about your emotional responses is one thing, I don't feel bad for calling out your flawed reasoning though.

cursing them, "Damn things, they will cause havoc, mayhem and hellfire to rain down on all of us!!"

A little off topic but I've come to view Bitcoin as digital Yap money.

It totally is, except the stone will fall apart if you don't constantly polish it!  Cheesy

Maybe it would be better if people could pay for virtual adoption rights? The girl paying the most gets exclusive rights to care for the dog for the duration of her subscription?

A live Tamagoschi.

It could be a charity for stray dogs also that way, lots of positive press.

Awesome idea on its face, but people probably won't want to care for a dog they can't even pet. That is one more thing to discuss with a kennel if it ever gets to that point. Not sure if it'd be financially viable though as one single person would need to offset a small portion of the equipment, streaming access, food, etc.
1305  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTCJam on: April 21, 2013, 05:21:23 PM
That's a fine addition to BTCJam, Tulkas!
1306  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Very serious inquiry about a not-so-serious topic on: April 21, 2013, 05:19:28 PM
I am not a native speaker, but petroller for me reads either like something connected to petrol, or like Pet Troller (which will probably be partially true). Not that I'm peddling my jokingly suggested tele-pets - it was a horrible name Smiley

No worries, everything requires proper branding and every word at first sounds weird. I personally think "Windows" is a ridiculous name for an operating system, and "Linux" sounds like a disease you wouldn't want to catch.
1307  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Very serious inquiry about a not-so-serious topic on: April 21, 2013, 05:08:28 PM
Since you guys are already rushing through talking about names and such, I got the idea to call it "PeTroller" (Pet + Controller, not pet + roller. Ouch!).

Took the liberty of registering petroller.org where I should probably upload any progress to this project if it ever starts. Maybe make it a developers blog of sorts.

If it did ever get to a point that kennels could use this to help increase donations, I would be honored for them to be listed on that site as well!
1308  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Ian Bakewell. The facts for non-Bitcoiners. on: April 21, 2013, 05:05:49 PM
Wright

how did you lose your scammer tag.

Which time? The first or the second? Click the link in my signature if you are actually interested in finding out. Don't tell me you thought I was a scammer too?

Annoying yes.  Scammer no.

(I'll delete after it's been read)

Well, I can't argue about the annoying part for some (my own girlfriend says I'm annoying sometimes). Just too many endorphins I guess.
1309  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Very serious inquiry about a not-so-serious topic on: April 21, 2013, 04:57:52 PM
Someone did this with Twitter, when you tweeted it would give the dog a treat. It was on the news so the owner had to take it down because everyone was tweeting it.

Before I hunt that down, I want to ask: Can't there be a defense mechanism put in place to make sure a ten pound dog isn't being feed more than what's recommended for its daily diet? Seems to me to be just a case of simple programming.

Also, you can't have too much play, too little water, too much activity going on at the same time.

Thus, several dogs (and other animals) would need to be available around the world due to the different time zones people and animal live it. It may be Noon here now for me, but in Korea it may be some sleeping hour.

Overall, I see it working, but controls will have to be put in place, but all doable.

Well, the dude in this thread was talking about using it at kennels for example. If that's done properly, people could just choose which cage to start streaming, and the arduino could show which dogs have already been fed (and block them from being fed more etc).

I've always thought it would be a wonderful project, but like all large scale projects, it costs money and has absolutely no guarantee of ever receiving any kind of profit, so I think I need to start on my own dogs first and see where the technology (and cost to profit ratio) goes.

Ever heard of rhetorical questions? Any different answer then "yes" would have been a lie so sorry when I didnt give you the opportunity to write an essay summarizing yourself, the bitcoin community, dragging this whole thing ad absurdum and twisting everything like you always do.

I give this post max 5 min, till one of your moderator buddys jump in and delete all my posts (again).

I feel awful that I did something that would cause you to act like this, but honestly what's the point of talking to you if you're not looking for truth?
1311  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Very serious inquiry about a not-so-serious topic on: April 21, 2013, 04:34:26 PM
Actually, the more I think about it the more it seems like a brilliant idea!

And if you get really popular you can build a whole animal shelter somewhere with each animal connected to a separate channel so more people could play.

There are games with virtual pets, but AI is usually bad and they are stupid. Many people are also allergic and can't have pets.

And this animal shelter can pay for itself, so you helping animals and entertain people. There's definitely something in here!

I actually wouldn't need to build the shelter, I'm a member of a group of shelters here in Korea. If it worked and there was interest, I think it'd be a pretty nifty way of getting donations for the shelters without worrying about the trust issues of sending large amounts etc.

Haha

Did you want me to answer or did you want to continue to answer yourself?
1314  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Ian Bakewell. The facts for non-Bitcoiners. on: April 21, 2013, 04:25:04 PM
Glad I never invested into Ian Smiley

Matthew N. Wright ... a scammer offering his help against a scammer ... hillarious.

I'm sorry you were hurt by that prank. You're still #21 in the pay queue and all my income goes to paying those people as a sort of "stupid tax" to me. I've learned a lesson not to play pranks involving money. I crossed a line. Scammer though? Why are you making up new definitions for perfectly good words, when you have people like Alberto Armandi (bitscalper/Bitdaytrader), Tawsix (mining rig scam), MyBitcoin, and literally endless more cases of *actual* scams? I don't mind hearing you complain while you wait to be paid, but I just wish you were more sensible is all.
1315  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ban useless replies on: April 21, 2013, 04:10:58 PM
... we do not ban scammers, we do not even label them scammers, so why would we ban "innocent" replies while you can still use the ignore function.

I couldn't find any scammers in that thread. Who are you talking about?

EDIT: What I do see is clear evidence of a prank (albeit a completely tasteless one that was way over the top, affected lots of people financially, and taught more than just me some very hard lessons)

From IRC:

<_matthew_> lol VIP SCAMMER
<_matthew_> I want to be a VIP SCAMMER
<_matthew_> I want to be a VIP STAFF SCAMMER
<_matthew_> That'd be epic

Eisenhower, since you've already made it clear in PM to me before that you incorrectly think I'm a scammer, can you please share your thoughts on this thread? Are people scammers when they don't take money? Are people scammers when they not only don't take money but honor bets that aren't legitimate or legal? Are people scammers when they not only honor illegitimate unescrowed bets, don't take money, but actually pay money to people who even admitted that they wouldn't pay themselves had they lost? I'm kind of confused as to what about that makes me a scammer.

I think you've redefined the word for your own purposes. If you'd like to look at a scammer, take a look at BitDayTrade/BitScalper. Take a look at MyBitcoin. Take a look at TawSix. If you spend the rest of your life thinking I'm a scammer, it'd be a waste of a thought.

Good luck on your forum. It is certainly not a good way to promote them but some people may actually like it...

Primarily spammers.

It's true, I need some cookies. The cookies in the UK suck, can never really find nice ones. I think I need to learn to bake and make some.  Cool

Well, if you can't find good cookies, there's always healthy tasty fruits to snack on.

1318  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post a picture of what you would love to be eating right now. on: April 21, 2013, 04:04:32 PM
Being a little late, I was going to post that with a thread title like that, people would only post pictures of Asian women here.

Personally, I think Joshster is a fraud. Just look at his avatar. Wings and fries my ass. I know what he wants to eat.

1319  Economy / Service Discussion / Very serious inquiry about a not-so-serious topic on: April 21, 2013, 03:58:00 PM
I'm considering setting up several webcams and Arduino controllers in a room with my big dogs so that bitcoiners can go to a page and basically feed and play with them by simply sending bitcents to certain addresses. I realize it's kind of corny, but I've shared this idea since 2010 on Skype and no one has done it since then, so I figure someone's waiting on me to pave the way.

To tell you the honest truth, the reason I haven't come out publicly with this idea is because I was afraid of people taking the idea and modifying it to abuse animals and eventually torture or kill humans ("To vote for death, send BTC here, to vote for life, send here!", etc anyone else see that movie?).

Anyway, would this project be worth my time? Would anyone be willing to help out who knows what they're doing with Arduinos? Somehow I feel this will be the future of internet entertainment (I've previously discussed with Maagus Iverson back in 2007 about starting a physical tank paintball game controllable online for example, controlling RC helicopters with webcams online, and controlling a human being with a wecamhat, all online, but didn't know about Bitcoin at the time).

I understand this will potentially make no money, I understand this will definitely cost money, I understand this will distract me from other work, but everyone needs a hobby, and it would make feeding my dogs a simple task.

P.S. If I go ahead with this project, I bet some asshole later on is going to pay like 3 BTC and dump a whole container of food on my dogs' heads, ultimately filling the entire room up with dog poop.

It couldn't *all* have gone into LSD, could it? LSD is so cheap. He'd have enough to last him years. Or maybe months, if he didn't mind causing himself brain damage.

I have no idea how much LSD costs, but by the looks of it, he's already consumed enough for brain damage.
