There doesn't seem to be much of an overhead for the supermarket cafe. They already offer a discount to staff members, who show an ID card to claim it. They have just added another discount category, and there is a printed bar code by the till. scanning this applies the discount. The limit is £10 per person per transaction, but there is no limit to the number of transactions per person. If you want £30 worth of food, then you just split it into 3 visits. I'm not sure if the £10 limit is per transaction,or per discount, maybe I should check that. There isn't much that the government can do to check on claims, so I suspect they probably just pay the cafe on submission of a claim. Maybe C&E will check when they do a VAT inspection.

Since the cafe reopened I've been buying big breakfasts, as that was a good deal ( even better at half the price ). That's sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, fried bread, and probably something else that I have forgotten. All that is £4.25 with a free cup of coffee, and at half price, I've noticed a couple of people buying two of them. I was shocked to discover that I has assed over 2 Kg to my weight, so I've switched to a couple of poached eggs on a smashed avocado base with an organic peppermint tea. I'm enjoying the change.

I think this could have been a great chance to tackle the obesity issue, and sugar and energy drinks could have been excluded, or possibly subject to an extra tax. Ultra-processed foods like burgers and fake chicken could also have been excluded.

There is now a small sign that explains the 50% discount, but the cafe is still pretty empty, as is the supermarket. It's about 0830 hours on a Tuesday, and I would have expect more customers to be here.

So you DO BELIEVE in masks.

I believe in self-isolation for some posters. Smiley

Actually I might try it for myself with regards to viruses and vaccination threads. They have become religious beliefs, and you can't rationalise with zealots. No vaxers and no maskers just want to maintain the health that God gave us, and preserve a booming economy and pleasant lifestyle.
1323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Must Evolve to Reach Mass Adoption on: August 03, 2020, 09:44:24 AM
Well I believe that Satoshi was a small tram working for the central banks, and Bitcoin was an experimental project to explore the possible successors to the failing fiat system. Keeping Bitcoin as a store of wealth is a great option, and they probably own more than half of the coins anyway. The next stage will be to own a few of the mining farms. All that is good news for us if you think about it.
1324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Must Evolve to Reach Mass Adoption on: August 03, 2020, 08:22:36 AM
In my opinion Bitcoin was not created for mass adoption. Its 10 minute block generation time, and 21 million cap will stop that. It is far better if it takes its place alongside gold and silver, and the mass  adoption is left to alternative coins, or even government tokens.
1325  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucets - Do people still use it, and are they worthwhile? on: August 03, 2020, 08:16:07 AM
I used a faucet to test the wallet in my Bitcoin node when I first set it up. This was useful for me, but, as others have said, if you want to earn a few Satoshi for investment or income, there are a lot of better options. I used the BitBlocks faucet for a while to evaluate that coin, but it hasn't done much, and I doubt if the coins I got are worth more than a penny.

Don't feed Franky, just put him on ignore. I have done it, and it has reduced the aerosolised brown trout in the covid posts. Smiley
1327  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Covid situation in the US perfectly summarized in video form on: August 03, 2020, 07:33:46 AM
Listing a death as Covid reduces paper work I believe. There are several reports of false declarations being made by busy doctors and surgeons. One surgeon actually stated a case. It seems he had attempted an organ transplant on a patient with Covid. This was not successful, and regrettably the patient died. He was told to report it as a Covid death, as this was a simple report. If he had reported it as a transplant failure, there would have been an inquest into the operation, and this involves a considerable amount of paperwork and reporting.
1328  Other / Politics & Society / "eat out to help out" Boris's latest idea. on: August 03, 2020, 07:26:31 AM
This is Boris's latest idea to help revive the high street. If you purchase a meal at participating restaurants, then the government will pay half of the bill, up to a max of £10. Alcohol is not included. I'm in the supermarket cafe for my early morning coffee ( normally £1.45 ), and today it only cost £0.50 (I know, that got me as well ). I didn't intend to stay for long, but I'm tempted to try poached eggs with smashed avocado at half price.

So what do you think? All of the McDonalds are participating, and we know that their ultra-processed foods and sugary drinks contribute to insulin resistance. Should we be encouraging people to eat more of these products, or should they be excluded for health reasons?
1329  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Covid situation in the US perfectly summarized in video form on: August 02, 2020, 04:42:30 PM
I believe there is a virus, but I don't think it is a match for a healthy immune system.
1330  Other / Serious discussion / Testing a vaccine against a low risk virus. on: August 02, 2020, 04:37:21 PM
I continue to read reports about the virus and other health issues, and a few things confuse me. Reports indicate that the Corona virus has little effect on a healthy person without a compromised immune system, and there is no risk of mortality. The vaccine Developers plan to test their new vaccines on young healthy volunteers. This confuses me, as the immune system of these volunteers will be on top of the virus as soon as it sees it, and it will be difficult to determine the effects of the vaccine. Another problem stems from the fact that 80% of the population has probably developed a natural immunity. Again this means that the vaccine will be redundant and possibly disruptive. Will they filter out those with immunity, or will they be included in the trials?
1331  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Covid situation in the US perfectly summarized in video form on: August 02, 2020, 03:27:10 PM
A lot of Americans are free thinking individuals, and you shouldn't condemn them for refusing to accept the diktats of those who are blinkered by the gluteus max of the Pharma executives.
1332  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lockdown easing - I'm back in the cafe on: August 02, 2020, 02:54:18 PM
Whether viruses exist or not is only of academic interest to me. I know there is some disease that has been discovered, and there is a possibility that it was created in a military lab,but the important considerations are the effects on health and the economy. It seems there has not been a single death worldwide - I believe this because nobody has claimed the award for proving it. It doesn't seem to affect the bulk of the population, and this isfrom my personal observation. It is obviously going away, because the money Pharmas are desperate to get a vaccine onto the market before nobody needs it. This acceleration of vaccine development is quite alarming, as it seems it takes 4 years to check on the safety of a vaccine, and they are doing it in 4 months. Billions of pounds, dollars and euros are being taken out of a weak economy to starve it of funds for recovery.

Virus laboratories are reporting problems because they cn't find enough infected cases for treatment testing, and yet reports claim that infections are increasing. Well it seems they are increasing testing using inferior kits, so of course more cases will be found. Asses to that, they are reporting people with virus kike symptoms as infected.

The whole thing smacks of massive manipulation of the gullible public, and they are really stretching credibility. They are now using dogs to detect virus infections in America, what will be next?
1333  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lockdown easing - I'm back in the cafe on: August 02, 2020, 01:08:10 PM
The whole topic of ventilators is quite interesting. I gather most of the ventilators in use are pretty useless, and the staff don't know how to use them. The successful ones are extremely expensive, and monitor the patient constantly, and make frequent micro adjustments. Operating them is a skilled and time consuming job, and this is why there aren't many of them. It's a last resort treatment as well. All of the ventilators that governments have been buying for the panicdemic are low grade, and are more likely to cause death rather than curing the patient.

But what do I know - I'm one of those nuts who believes that it is better to eat stinging nettles, dandelions and thistle roots to avoid illness, and that injecting disease into one's arm is stupidity.
1334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Food poisoning in the UK on: August 02, 2020, 12:34:55 PM
The virus is the red herring that is being used to start the collapse of the world economies. It is already being used to transfer massive amounts of cash, and these are used to purchase assets by elite survivors. There is a far worse threat, and that is the decimation of farming, and the promotion of synthetic ultra-processed foods. People seem to be accepting this passively, and they go online to buy whatever foods the supermarkets are promoting, and they seem to have no interest in the health benefits.

I'd love to run a smallholding in a woodland preservation area, and sell healthy produce for crypto. Maybe I should crowd fund it.
1335  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The cure for Covid-19 is right here. on: August 02, 2020, 11:25:09 AM
More than 500 people have been cured of Covid within 4 days of CD being administered to them,

Wow that is impressive, and it compares with the 80% of the population who are estimated to have been cured through natural immunity.

(maybe some of those were in the 500 )
1336  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China as part of the future world economy. on: August 02, 2020, 11:19:05 AM
China already seized a harbor in Sri Lanka because of an unpaid debt, this could be the first of a series of repossession of strategic assets all around the world.

They have grabbed Piraeus in Greece as well, and they are moving towards dominance in commercial shipping, including the ownership of ship builders.
1337  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lockdown easing - I'm back in the cafe on: August 02, 2020, 10:55:17 AM
Well this morning was interesting. I arrived at Asda early (6 am ), and used the mobile to check on Bitcoin, and a few other things, including Bitcoin Talk. I didn't bother to reply to any threads, as they contain so many useless poster quotes and re-quotes that it is quite hard to read the threads on a mobile, and even harder to try to understand the replies. Why do people have to keep quoting posts in full to make a minor reply to one of the points? You wouldn't do it if you were in a group conversation would you? Can you imagine it? Fred said "blah blah" and George replied "do dah dah", then Susan qualified George with the comment "dah dah do". After you had said all that lot, you then say " I agree with Susan". I bet the next time you joined the group, they would all walk away from you.  Forums are really group discussions, so the same concepts apply. Anyway enough of that, and on to the main point of this post.

I had gone to Asda because my elderly friend wanted some cat food ( behave, it was for the cat ).By the time I had got to the cafe, it had been open for an hour or so. I moved towards one of the wall tables with bench seats, and was told I had to get a number. OK, so I went back and picked up a flag with number 19 ( my old house number in Walton-on-Thames ), and headed for the wall tables. There are 5 tables, and two of them are closed because of social distancing. A family was occupying one, one had just been vacated, and one was clear with a number flag on it. I was told I couldn't sit at that table, so I sat at one of the less comfortable central tables to wait for the central one to be cleared. Another staff member observed that I had to order my coffee at the till, and I said that I was waiting for one of the wall tables.I was then told that as I had sat down at the smaller table, I had to stay there, as customers aren't allow ro move. When I asked why I couldn't use the empty table, I was told that it was in its quarantine period. It seems that after a table has been cleared and sanitised, it can't be used for 10 minutes. At this point I got up and went to Morrison's yet again.

Now lets put this in perspective. Fewer than half of the customers in the main store were wearing face masks, and I didn't see any wearing gloves. A higher percentage of the staff were wearing masks or visors, and some were wearing gloves. Nobody seems to bother about the law of the land.  Customers block the entrance as they utilise the hand sanitised stations. This is after they have come from home, and got out of their cars, and one would presume they were virus free, The sanitiser stations at the exit are largely unused,as people seem to want to hang onto the viruses they have picked up in the lethally infected store. Smiley The use of face masks must be reducing, as there weren't as many as usual blowing around in the car park.
1338  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Food poisoning in the UK on: August 02, 2020, 10:20:42 AM
How many people are aware that a Californian doctor has offered $7,500 to anyone who can prove that any person has died from the virus. You would think that the money Pharmers would have been all over that, but so far nobody has claimed the award.

The only good news is that it is highlighting the Pharma scams, and the massive amounts of money that are being squandered. Even if they can find a vaccine that is half way decent, then I doubt if they will dare to release it. It will be largely untested, and the deaths and deformities that will result from its use will probably kill the credibility of vaccines.
1339  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't buy facemasks for the coronavirus! on: August 01, 2020, 08:42:26 PM
You haven't explained why you believe that reinfecting yourself with expelled virus is good for your health
1340  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't buy facemasks for the coronavirus! on: August 01, 2020, 07:55:23 PM
I'm just tired of repeating sources

Observation and rational thought are more use than lying propaganda

I go to a lot of public places and meet a lot of people. I've yet to hear of anybody who has bad confirmation of infection, Other than in the media.

I must be a super spreader of immunity.

If god wanted us to wear masks he wouldn't have invented mucus
