1341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM VP "We are forking Ethereum" on: September 25, 2014, 09:43:18 AM
It looks more like IBM could end up creating something like Maidsafe..

IBM's blockchain would probably still resemble a coin as how else are they going to pay people to host their decentralized servers?
1342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another Alibaba moment on NXT AE? on: September 25, 2014, 06:22:20 AM
Actually.. although it is a good idea, this sounds lame as there is little upside for investors.

I've read both the NxT thread about it and then the FAQ.  I agree with your assessment.  They've already given it a valuation of $1 million and yet there's no prototype, no patent and looks like it's still on the drawing board..  and they're only giving up 10% equity..

Probably the reason why it's done on the NxT asset exchange was if CfB brought this to a venture capitalist (even an amateur one) he would be laughed out of the room.

Of course because I said this I will probably get some angry NxTers gunning for me but that's the power of the NxT cult following.  I'm a rationale person and saw merit in SuperNet (and have some) but this?  No way.

Does any one know how long it would take for a TW attack to start to manifest itself?

Time warp attack?  What is this?  Like the Soviet Union going back to kill Einstein or an aged admiral Janeway coming out of the Nebula to save the Voyager?

BCX is going back in time to kill that Rptiela Finnish dude whatever his name?  Does this effect our timeline continuum or does it create a new timeline continuum we don't know about?
1344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Monero taking over the alternate section? #3 Crypto in weeks? on: September 25, 2014, 02:51:53 AM
Monero threads are going over the top.  They have a really strong community and sound mechanics.  Just fended off an attack by BCX.  Will Monero be #3 soon?  Huh
1345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 Uro coin = 1 tonne of urea on: September 25, 2014, 02:41:35 AM
My plastic galleon buckets just came in the mail.  How do I exchange my Uro for my buckets of bat piss (Gauno Urea)?   Huh  Is it safe to store this stuff with opened lids in my living room?

What has Japan done to WW2?   Huh
1347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWS Litecoin and dogecoin support from paypal on: September 25, 2014, 12:15:42 AM
No this news means both coins will be going down, after the initial pump from the news.

Look at Doge - capitalization went down & down after they spent money to promote at the Olympics and Nascar.  Paypal accepting LTC and Doge is like giving a 14 year old $60,000 on a credit card and going away for a month and coming back and finding all the money has been spent.

When's the first feature of NODE going to be patched in?  Huh
1349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Crowdsale has begun[Updates & Discussion] on: September 25, 2014, 12:03:28 AM
An interesting move in my opinion. Mostly because I think PayPal realizes they need to embrace, adapt, and integrate or die slowly. This is a smart move on their part even if not begrudging as it cuts in to their cushy margins.

PayPal will just pass on the fees via bitcoin, they dont have to sacrifice any of their margin. Instead of sending your bitcoin straight to the buyer you will send it through an Ebay/Paypal intermediary who will take their traditional-sized cut from the transaction. So I imagine.

and we don't even know the swing or fees yet.  Bitcoin ATMs are already known to swing up to 30% and charge additional fees on top.  I think PayPal saw the money that BitPay and the exchanges / ATMs were making and wanted in on the action.

Although bitcoin has some serious problems, I think it's far from dead. In fact, from a usability standpoint, it has gained massive ground and was never better positioned. It would be interesting to see how things will look at the end of the year.

yes, but adding LTC and DOGE is not such a good move imho.

I remember the price tanking after the Olympics and Nascar thing for Doge.  Adding liquidity to Litecoin and Doge will end up hurting the value of those coins..
1351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Our private life in a bitcoin dominated world! on: September 24, 2014, 08:15:15 AM
You would just end up using some anonymizer intermediary service for the less ethical purchases.  Apple Pay is the most recent example which obfuscates your credit card information.
1352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero exploding in price! Just surpassed Litecoin. This is NOT photoshop. on: September 24, 2014, 06:48:54 AM
Monero went back down so locking this thread.

NOT PHOTOSHOP, go to Coinmarketcap.

Is it possible that the BTC price jump earlier today was a fewMonero holders (or just one?) dumping XMR for BTC, for fear of the announced attack?

The reason of the price jump was the news of PayPal's Bitcoin integration

yeah this fact slipped past most people.  Bitcoin went up $50 a day... kind of echos the mini-pump we saw with the Newegg announcement but it then went back down.
1355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2,300 billionaires, each holding $600m of cash on average on: September 24, 2014, 05:25:56 AM
Never thought it was $600 million - I wonder how they got that number?  I'm reminded by people like Donald Trump who declared bankruptcy multiple times and almost declared personal bankruptcy due to being asset rich and cash poor.

Although I can understand millionaires holding onto a lot of cash.  Real estate and the stock market could undergo a huge correction and it would be a shame if you lost most of your net worth and had to return to being one of the "peasants" and work some 9-to-5 (ex millionaire suicide is rather common).
1356  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of contemporary art skyrockets. on: September 24, 2014, 05:08:43 AM
I think this is speculation - maybe buy 20,000 paintings and that lucky one that is a photo of red paint will sell for $4 million..

I've seen enough of those antique and pawn shop shows and it amazes me that these people kept centuries old antique and they're not really worth the effort it took to preserve them.. all these people would had been better off if their ancestors had bought some cheap frontier land in the Americas, acquired silver / gold or diversified into railroad stock (true a lot of them went bankrupt but chances are you would had landed on the ones that survived).

Still frozen on Bittrex. This mean it's dead? Huh

Monero cant be traded on bittrex anymore?  Huh
1358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NxTers call BitsharesX and Ripple scams, LTC dying, Doge and Peer to be pumps on: September 24, 2014, 04:36:51 AM
Ha! Nice Try Silly Goose,

You can't redirect attention away from the epickest alt battle of all-time right now!

I realize the rest of the world has gone or is going to bed but this is still a hot ticket. I'm looking for any signs of slowdown or fracture in the Monero hashrate. I haven't given up hope that an attack will still happen, yet.

I thought the Monero thing is over since BCX couldn't get enough hashrate?

Unless you suggest that BCX is organizing a second campaign and is calling on his powerful alliances in the Bitcoin hierarchy.
1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | Released 16 May | 100% POS | New Source on: September 24, 2014, 04:14:16 AM
Reason it can't go open source is because Qora is likely a disguised NxT fork.
1360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NxTers call BitsharesX and Ripple scams, LTC dying, Doge and Peer to be pumps on: September 24, 2014, 04:11:28 AM
All nonsense statements with no technical references to back up claims.  This whole section is simply people with one liners and no technical analysis, sad.

I didn't create that photo, it came from another person on the NxT forum and it was liked by multiple people on there.  Roll Eyes
