1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 09, 2014, 01:11:16 AM
It may had been on the official NEM forum but there were people talking about using these excess NEM as a pseudo-PoW give away to each NODE and harvester.

There's downsides to that concept of course.  My opinion is that mining is really just a private IPO where the person with the capital in form of multiple computers and the technical know how wins.  I was actually talking with somebody who has a problem roommate with 12 computers (probably a crypto currency miner but who knows but the issue was the skyrocketing electrical bill) and that's the sort of person who would get most of that NEM.

I'm not against a give away but I'm against giving $1000 to people who'ld probably end up dumping it or people who we can't ascertain their identity.  The issue with the Facebook give away (e.g. Stellar) is abuse by blackhat professionals with fake accounts or people in developing countries being taken advantage of (e.g., Stellar).

Aren't mugshots of convicted felons public record?
1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins & Joshua Zeidner Money Laundering Fraud: what's the damage done? on: October 08, 2014, 05:57:36 PM
I have no relation to NXT and was inadvertently involved for a brief period.  I had no knowledge of what sort of activities these groups were involved in.

I have contacted the authorities regarding NXT.  I am also pursuing legal action against Edward Hickman of Honolulu, HI.

Is it true that you were charged for murder in 2004 which resulted in being fired from your employer at the time, Avisere Inc? The records I stumbled upon say you were released from jail in early 2010. I find this extremely worrying as you're threatening a number of individuals on this forums. Please seek for expert help in a mental institution before worse will happen again

 Shocked

Bluemeanie1 murdered somebody?

1225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 08, 2014, 05:30:18 PM
How many stakeholders have registered so far?   Huh

377

Number seems a tad low to me but it's only been like two days since everybody received their message?  I was under the assumption that most of the 1200+ veterans were somewhat active regulars on BTT.  Seems like they are either ignoring the private message, haven't taken the time to complete the steps or haven't logged in yet.

I'm familiar with this other coin (Patmast3r knows this one too) where like 200-something out of 900-something stakeholders didn't complete the steps to receive their coins.  Theoretically, there could be as much as a thousand stakeholders in NEM who may end up missing the distribution - even if you hound them (like sending them PMs) many will still end up missing it for a variety of reasons (intentional or accidental).

The aim should be to get as many NEM to as many people as possible but I don't see any merit in the Facebook approach.  The last coin that did it - it was abused by blackhats with hundreds of fake accounts and then people were manipulating Indian Facebookers into giving up a $10 promotion for $5.  This coin only has a capitalization of $3 million (which is less than NEM if it were to launch tomorrow, $1000 x 4000 = $4 million capitalization).

The idea I read on the NEM forum to give out 20,000 NEM for things like posting a good picture is a novel idea.  When I was younger and more creative I would have taken advantage of that, $20 to take one nice good photo or some kind of promotion is like a payday.

1226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 08, 2014, 04:48:33 PM
Isn't this going to give some problems to NEM stake distribution?

http://cointelegraph.com/news/112603/the-strange-case-of-bitcointalks-chinese-ban

If I knew I had a $1000 stake on some website I couldn't access, $1000 being quite the fortune in most areas of China and that number will go up, I would invest into an VPN and get it - alternatively, if I was Chinese and following NEM, I would probably be able to find its' website just from using search engines.

1229  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Australian Govt. form asks if I own any Bitcoin of Cryptocurrency on: October 08, 2014, 04:13:22 PM
Strange. What proportion of Australians own bitcoins?
Are there other questions like do you own gold/silver/copper/any damn metal/...?

Well if Bitcoin only has 500K-2M users then considering Australia's population maybe only up to 10,000.

Which makes the question more perplexing because most people who read that form will be like: "Bitcoin what?" when like 40% of households in Australia are claiming some kind of government benefit.
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCX and Bluemeanie1 teaming up to destroy Monero? on: October 08, 2014, 03:47:05 PM

They are not including the development funds which is like 40% of total NODE or along those lines?
1232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is almost here[Updates & Discussion] on: October 08, 2014, 01:09:47 AM
Satoshi 1.0 + BCnext 2.0 = NEM 3.0.  Holy trinity of Crypto Currency.

we all want money and donīt want to change the world... itīs very funny to read this  Grin Grin Grin Grin

go to church and change the world but not with Crypto and Money.

i do advertising that people buy NEM and than i make big fat money...thatīs the target and later i go tu church and pray and give money to this people that need this... iīm a holy NEMster.

I think I'll start selling indulgences to NEMsters.

'o blessed ar' thy Father, for I hath sinned..."
"That'll be 10 NEM and yo sins shall be forgiveth"

Actually crypto currency will likely change the world for the better.

The results since moving onto $Fiat and generational hyperinflation hasn't been good.  We have hyperinflation like Weimar but it's taking place over generations (not months) and it's like a frog in a warm pot slowly being heated to a boil.    Occasionally you can see the old signs where Coca Cola was once sold for 1 cent or 5 cents at a restaurant.  The US dollar has lost 98% of its' purchasing strength since 1913.

Stagflation means the middle class is being squeezed and destroyed. The cost of essentials continues to go up but salaries stagnate or even decline in purchasing strength and savings lose their value.  The end result is we've seen an increase in people selling family heirlooms, ancestral farm land and other assets just to make it in this world.

It's a literal race to the bottom, for our hypothetical descendents, if this world continues to use inflating $Fiat.

Inflation has always been a tax on the poor and all this taxed money goes straight to banking elite and those with a monopoly on essentials.

1 NEMstake > 100,000 NXT
in few days

Yes its time to fasten your seatbelts

edit-

Nevermind, noticed you put NXT, not NEM Tongue

1nem=1BTC Grin

Bitcoin at 500K-2M users isn't even the Alta Vista or Yahoo of digital currencies yet.  The internet back in 1989 had more users.  Not willing to check but I bet Yahoo had more people using their search engine in 1995.

PayPal is worth $40 billion but their capitalization is largely derived from processing payments to merchants and collecting a trivial fee from this transaction.

This is compared to something like Bitcoin which has commodity characteristics and had a peak capitalization around $18 billion with only a maximum of 2 million users (which is less than 2% of PayPal's userbase).

That means the first coin to get 100 million users would likely have a capitalization in the $Trillions, which is how 1 NEM = $350 (1 BTC).

How is this possible?  The world is already full of $Trillion dollar industries and market.  Investment Gold is $2 Trillion.  Dot.com in the late 1990s was $7 trillion when only 2% of the population had access to the internet.    International tourism is at least $1 trillion.  Global remittance is around $500 billion (the number for people with dual bank accounts is likely even higher).

All the assets on this planet is like $80 trillion and then there's also an additional $400 trillion derivatives and here we are talking about international digital currencies.   Smiley

If NEM can acquire 100+ million users then yes it could go for between $200-$500 with ease.  I think most people, including myself, are playing it more conservative by thinking NEM would be one of the runner-ups at $10-$50 within the context of a $Trillion(s) digital currency market where this capitalization is split between multiple coins, assets and other services.
1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Testnet for Automated Transactions (AT) - Turing Completeness for Nxt on: October 07, 2014, 11:18:58 PM
NXT is a shitcoin. It's kind of laughable. I'm sure the developers know by now that their distributing the entire 1billion NXT that was issued out on Day 1, to under 75 people has doomed NXT from the start....

No matter what features NXT adds, it will always fail because of it's beginnings. Face it, only an extremely small majority of people control most of the NXT coins in existence and by the very small trading volume seen on NXT(even with it's decent sized marketcap), we can all see that those people are reluctant to sell their coins/ease the extreme unfairness present, making NXT one of the most "centralized" alt-coins ever made.

As well they seem to be increasingly breaking the law.  There's drugs and other illegal activity on the digital marketplace.   The asset exchange is bypassing the SEC.  NxT is now planning to bring in an illegal lottery and an illegal poker service.  The lead developer is hiding in a pseudo-Communist country called Belarus and even if he went full public he would never be prosecuted and if indicted wouldn't be expatriated to court in the United States.  If he does go to jail then it would be by the Belarusian authorities accusing him of laundering money or being involved with some kind of criminal activity.

I think these are all barriers towards getting any recognition or investment from serious parties.  If you noticed on a lot of the crypto news websites - they refrain from mentioning NxT unless money gets stolen.

Not saying this as a good or a bad thing, rather apathetic about it.  NxT looks like it's aiming to be equivalent of a 4Chan Crypto currency and only time will tell if it will work.

NxT used to be $90-$110 million at its' peak and I would be really surprised if it reclaims that former capitalization, more features or not.  NxT started to lose a lot of capitalization when the public became aware of its' distribution (alienation #1) and after the digital marketplace I noticed their capitalization actually went down (alienation #2.  Against predictions of it going up, probably because people didn't want to hold a coin that is used by drug dealers.  Could be comparable to how Bitcoin boomed after the Silkroad was shut down.).

1236  Other / Off-topic / Re: Debt on: October 07, 2014, 08:06:03 PM
No debt.  Most debt is mortgages, medical, student loans or shopping frenzy related.

The man I listen to on the radio for money advice did not own real estate until his 40s.

I'm not entirely convinced a fully connected network of that size will work (latency, varying hardware...)
Of course it will not work, pity devs do not see it  Cry

Absolutely deaded! sell your nodes Smiley

But what if it rebounds?   Shocked

I'm riding this down to zero!

let's spread NODE  Cheesy

after POA implementation NODE will explode.

Nope.  NODE has multiple bad vibes about it on BTT.  Only way this coin will go anywhere is by promoting to Eastern Europeans as a regional replacement to BTC.

Wish I could help but I don't know any Slavonic languages.  All I can do is ask my friends in Ukraine / Baltic to buy but they would only probably buy like $5-$50.  Probably word of mouth advertising from them would be more valuable than them buying NODE.
1240  Other / Off-topic / Re: With Ebola striking in Texas on: October 06, 2014, 05:49:09 AM
Are people going on tilt or just edgy? Is it really that serious, I'm reading that this stuff is kinda like influenza in which case we're talking business as usual. Not implying that that's good.

The false positives are signs of being edgy.

Otherwise I wouldn't compare Ebola to influenza.  Ebola virus can survive up to 10x longer than influenza and kills up to 50%-80% of people it effects.   Center for Disease Control thinks there could be 1.5 million cases within 4 months.

Still that's only 700,000 people dying when the US has over 1+ million legal immigrants in a year
