If Gane hasn't been practicing his wrestling, and Jon Jones has half the ability he had in wrestling a few years ago, Gane is in for a extremely long night. We talk about how wrestlers tend to have the edge against strikers, and Jon Jones is literally one of the best wrestlers to have ever done it. The poor showing from Gane against Ngannou were warning signs to me, and I saw a image the other day of a quote from Gane saying he doesn't train until fight camp.

Now, I don't know how true that quote was, but if is then I'm not sure how he expects to beat one of the greatest of all time, and keep a belt too. I wouldn't have thought the quote was true, since Gane definitely has talent behind him, but you never know heavyweight is probably one of the weaker divisions in terms of quality.

Wales need to abandon the kicking game, that's for sure. Our scrum half didn't exactly help things either, not sure I want him in a Wales shirt again, not any time soon anyway. Judging on our previous performances, Italy might be worth betting on. I haven't checked the odds yet, but I imagine the odds won't be too different for either team, whereas two years ago Wales would've been a 1.10-1.20 favourite. How times change.

Anyway, I don't expect a win in our current form, but we could potentially do it. I'm hoping so, I don't want the embarrassment of the wooden spoon, there's been a little too much embarrassment from the recent dramas surrounding Welsh rugby.
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 01, 2023, 10:19:54 PM
Liverpool actually won, who would've thought. I thought the ref was absolutely terrible, almost criminal at times. However, the game wasn't exactly brilliant, but it does remind me that when we've got our team back, we're capable of winning games despite it not being our best performance. We've missed Jota so much, and obviously Darwin has been a real star for us recently. I'm still quite hopeful for next season as long as we make the right signings. Midfield definitely needs sorting out, as it was pretty evident again in this game.

Dont forget that Shavkat Rakhmonov (16-0) is also fighting in main card. This fighter gives is able to get in top5 of welterweight. But due to Jones and Gane, he is in shadows. His opponent, Geoff Neal, is not an easy opponent either.

Now to Gane vs Bones. Interesting to see if Bones still has his magic; elbows, dirty tricks Cheesy How long has he been inactive? 3 years? Usually fighters lose their a lot from such a pause, and Bones was not only inactive, as far as I know there were long periods when he did not even train. I feel like Gane is going to finish him before timer runs out.
The odds aren't really worth it on Shavkat unless you're going by method. A decision could be on the cards, but I wouldn't feel confident betting on that. Geoff Neal hasn't got the best of take down defenses, and I imagine he gets tired from the grappling.

I'll be going for Jon Jones to win, but the value bet is Gane, and I imagine the odds will continue to widen the closer we get to the event. A lot of people are going to be betting no Jon Jones, just because of the hype behind him. I just hope we see at least some of the old Jon Jones. There's always questions of fighters when they're getting older, but when they've had a lengthy time out, that's always a worry.
145  Other / Meta / Re: what should a newbie do 1st on this forum? on: February 28, 2023, 10:26:47 AM
Let them do whatever they came here to do. I feel like we put a lot of expectations on new users because of the culture here. It's turned to a very business minded culture, which a lot of new users just want to ask their questions, and not necessarily continue posting from there on out, and that's fine. It's what brought a lot of us here, to just ask a simple question, and then we likely started reading a little more on the forum, and it hooked us.

Not every new user is here to go join a signature campaign, and earn money, but it seems we're very suspicious from the get go, which turns into hostility, and new users are less likely to stay. Staking a address isn't needed for most new users, and when they do come to doing it, they should probably do it with a securely generated address, which I imagine a lot of new users haven't got when first joining.
146  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thinking of separating my holdings into two physical locations. on: February 28, 2023, 10:22:09 AM
maybe we should take a step back and ask if you agree that a married couple should have their own personal bank accounts and maybe a joint savings account and another joint account where they pay the bills out of. i doubt spouses are going to be checking the other's bank account statements each month anyway so as far as that goes, it effectively is a bank account they know nothing about....

Many couples have separate bank accounts, but they at least tell or are open to their partner about it. Having a secret bank account is another story, I haven't heard that too often. If you don't want to share everything with your partner you probably shouldn't get married in the first place, since you're legally accepting that you will share everything.

I'm not even sure what the motives would be to hide a bank account from your partner. What does that achieve?
147  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @Amph - sale of BCT account via PM! on: February 28, 2023, 01:07:35 AM
You do realise of course you're suggesting an admin or mod would be the one being unfaithful in breaching either users' privacy whilst reviewing their PM's ??
I'm not sure what you mean, maybe the way I worded it was confusing; I'm saying that I encourage users to report unsolicited personal messages, but a global moderator or admin isn't going to post publicly about whether a personal message occurred i.e if you report a personal message in hopes to get it verified that it exists, that's not going to happen, since it technically isn't against the guidelines. Also, as Loyce pointed out; it might have been unsolicited for Lucius, but it wasn't for Amph since they were directed to contact Lucius. However, a global moderator or admin might consider it unsolicited enough to report, but it would probably require multiple messages for any action to be taken.

However, some users in the past have used DefaultTrust users to log in to their account, and verify the message exists, but I don't recommend that either. Since, there's privacy issues for other personal messages, and obviously a security risk. However, I don't think it's necessary either since Amph didn't deny they sent the message, but rather they were deceived.

If you mean by reporting it, it's putting both users privacy at risk; then yeah any personal message that is reported would be reviewed. However, it's recommended to use encrypted messages if you care about your privacy in personal messages, because they can be viewed by the admins, and globals if reported, which is technically something you risk every time you send a personal message.

It does seem as though a conversation occurred.  As to whether of not there was a man-in-the-middle who was coaxing information out of either or both, we may never know.  (then again both users could have been set up knowing they would bounce off of each-other.  The scenarios are endless.
Right, which is what I'm most interested about, since it's a rather odd scenario, which we'll probably never get to the bottom of unless there's more instances where this occurs, and we can get a little more information. At the moment, it appears to be a isolated case.
148  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @Amph - sale of BCT account via PM! on: February 28, 2023, 12:10:14 AM
We've had people here study screen shots in the past and verify they were fabricated - are any of them still around?
Since, you can technically edit the code displayed on the front end of your browser, i.e go into developer tools, and change the code; then it's not really easy to verify whether a screenshot has been faked or not. Since, you can just edit it via your browser, and not through photo editing software. You can only really tell when something has been edited via photo editing tools, not via changing the code directly, and then capturing it.

However, I doubt that's what happened in this case. It does seem like Amph hasn't exactly denied they sent that message to Lucius.
149  Other / Meta / Re: Auto merge back-to-back comments on: February 27, 2023, 12:37:10 PM
For this to happen, we'd need a bump button so that users could bump their threads, and various other things which would break if this was implemented. It's not a big deal to report it, and depending on the context correct it if need be.

Sorry, must have missed that part.
The mobile issue is annoying. The best option I see for that is to quote only selected text. So if you have some text selected the quote button or the "insert quote" from the reply page would add only selected text.

That would mean a fair bit of coding from theymos though and unfortunately I don't see it happening too soon.
You could potentially create a userscript to do this, and then do the usual bypass to get a script manager on mobile browsers. At least, with Firefox. I'm not sure with other browsers. I'd take a lot of work to do it via the forum, as I imagine that would break a lot of things, but a userscript should be fairly simple to type up.
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 27, 2023, 12:34:21 PM
Gane did win a few rounds, but not convincingly in my opinion, and quite honestly Ngannou visibly looked compromised in that fight, and obviously we know he later had surgery on the knee. So, yeah I think most of that was due to Ngannou not being able to move all that much, and it also affected his big shots he throws. However, I consider Jon Jones a lot better than Ngannou, and while a fight between them would've been entertaining, I just don't think Ngannou offers much other than the power he has. Jon likely takes him down, and wins through mitigating that power. Same as Gane, he's very good dancing around, and quick for a heavyweight, but his wrestling is quite frankly awful.

And the books actually rate Jones higher than Gane.  Jones is at 1.62, Gane is at 2.41.  If anything, Jones could be overrated as he's been away from the cage for so long.
Definitely. Although, I imagine he's in pretty good shape, and has still been training behind the scenes.
151  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Metal Seed Storage Safe in an Earthquake? on: February 27, 2023, 12:24:47 PM
I don;'t know maybe it's just me but storing more than 1 BTC in a cheap $20 alibaba safe (yeah I know it's amazon but I've seen enough resellers to not care anymore about the brand)  seems like a really not so good idea!
It goes back to testing this sort of stuff out yourself, in order to be sure. There's so much misdirection with advertising, and specifications you really can't trust the manufacturers word on this sort of thing. It'll come at an expense obviously, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I doubt many users would be willing to one, and test it out or even have the means to do so, but it's a valid point that should be considered when storing anything of value in anything that apparently has a certain specification. Same as when it comes down to metal specifications, how many times I've had mixed metals when it's suppose to be pure is beyond a joke.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 27, 2023, 12:08:24 PM
Maye the second fight will be even more eventful and call for a trilogy.
I'd watch it again. Both fighters should learn from it, and it was a competitive fight which is what you want. Tommy Fury clearly the more technical, and crisp striker, but Jake Paul has power, and he did sting Tommy a few times with that overhand right.

I think if Tommy has a bright future then so does Jake. The trouble with Tommy is where does he go from here? He's no where good enough to be challenging for titles and how can he co back to fighting for 10-20k on people's undercards now? I think he might have to pivot into youtube boxing or at least keep doing it side-by-side with pro boxing.
Yeah, Jake has a future in boxing too. Even at the lower levels, I don't think Tommy Fury is champion material, but then again some divisions to have some poor champions. Just look at Ilunga Makabu, I'm sorry, but he's a poor champion. He's got power, and that's about it. His technique, and footwork were awful last night.

Ae you sure? I didn't see that.
I'm pretty sure I saw that. Although, it's not like I went back, and checked. I just saw they had Jake Paul at 6ft 1 I believe, a inch taller than Fury, and his reach was also marginally more. Although, like I said I might be wrong.
153  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can we make Bitcoin simpler? on: February 27, 2023, 11:36:07 AM
People only understand the very basics of fiat currencies. The actual process is quite complicated behind the scenes. I've said it in the past, but I believe Bitcoin's biggest problem is it's complexity, and jargon. When new users are asked questions, they're bombarded with jargon which isn't helpful at all as it adds time onto their learning. Bitcoin probably does need to simplify for the end user if we want mass adoption, not because Bitcoin is massively more complex than fiat, but because fiat has already been established, and thus it's taught in schools, universities, and basically right from a young age. Bitcoin isn't, and at the moment there's no real use to teaching young people about Bitcoin, since it's likely not going to be their primary concern.

I think wallet UI/UX has already achieved a pretty good standard. Hardware wallets are pretty easy to use. The idea of seed backup might seem alien at first, but is pretty easy to explain, and understand. Security is a big issue, whenever you have the users themselves looking after their security, who don't understand a whole lot about security then that's a problem. However, users are also absolutely awful at fiat security, and the only real backup they have is the banks can reverse any fraudulent activity. Although, the banks can also plain stop you from making transactions, so there's that.

Most wallet software adjusts the fee accordingly these days, so there's no real need to manually work it out, unless you want to save as much as possible since they do tend to overestimate. There's a little bit of knowledge required when waiting for confirmations, but that's pretty easy to grasp. I think the main problem is securing your seed, but people have been securing other things for decades. It should be pretty easy for most people.

When you start delving under the hood of Bitcoin, then yeah I'd agree it's very complex, but so is fiat currencies. The thing is most people don't really need to delve into it that far, and they don't with fiat currencies.
154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 27, 2023, 11:14:27 AM
I'm just hoping Jon Jones still has the fitness, and skill required after a rather lengthy lay off. I do believe he will, but I'm a little nervous. I'm not much of a fan of Gane as everyone knows, I do think he's rather overrated, and he basically got tossed around by Ngannou's wrestling. If Jon Jones is back to anywhere near his best, he'll find this rather easy in my opinion. As long as he doesn't trade for too long, but even then I actually fancy him winning the stand up.

I'll probably just go for Jon Jones to win though, the odds aren't great, but I just don't know what Jon Jones we're getting. Submission could be on the cards, but so could a decision.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 27, 2023, 11:10:55 AM
I don't think Jake deserved that point taken off either
To be honest, I don't think either of them deserved the point taken off. Tommy Fury wasn't engaging much of the clinching, and shouldn't have had the point deducted, and honestly Tommy Fury was hitting Jake in the back of the head as much as Jake was to him. So, I'd just let them carry on. There was one bad punch in the back of the head from Tommy Fury, but that's only because Jake Paul turned his back.

but credit to both of them. They both seemed pretty evenly matched and you can't say Jake isn't a boxer now because if he isn't then neither is Tommy. I actually think Jake got some of the better punches in but Tommy did seem more composed which is expected given he's been boxing for so long. I'm sure they will do the rematch now. Jake seemed to want it and Tommy is up for it so it makes sense.
Good, entertaining fight. I thought the one judge that made it a split decision was awful mind you. I had Tommy had several rounds same as the other judges. Jake Paul did score that knock down though, and despite Tommy's claims that was a knock down, and not a slip. It might have been because he was off balance, but that's a knock down. I'd probably watch this fight again. Tommy Fury still has a bright future, I think most of us forget he's only 23. Also, I did notice that the promotion had Jake Paul with longer reach, how do they even measure these arms?
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 26, 2023, 08:03:04 PM
I don’t believe that script nonsense. If it were true I think it would’ve been exposed by someone else a long time ago.

I did put down a parlay bet on Mayweather and Jake Paul both winning their fights. Seemed like an easy bet. We’ll see how it plays out but I’m feeling somewhat confident at the moment. Jake Paul winning and calling out KSI might be in the script, but that’s because it’s seemingly obvious.
Yeah, it's nonsense. People don't seem to understand that knowingly fixing matches that are being bet on would mean everyone involved would be looking at time in prison, hence why the WWE doesn't allow betting, but there we have it, the speculation will continue to circulate about for as long as time. That's not to say match fixing doesn't happen, it has in the past, but not on this large of a stage.

I've seen the script, there's a ton wrong with it including citing organsations which don't even identify themselves as those names, but how on earth do you fake a swollen eye on live television? Anyway, like I said any match fixing is beyond a joke, and shouldn't be entertained at this point.

As for who I've got to win; Tommy Fury. I'm not doing it via any method, just Tommy Fury.
157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 24, 2023, 08:40:52 PM
This is the first time we'll see Jones fight again. If he is still up to submit opponents he can do it.
Heavy body mass however can just make him go for striking, after all, he can greatly damage with just fists. But it's still possible by Submission.
Submissions is possible I suppose, but I'll probably be jumping on the decision for Jones. Gane's tough, not very good on the ground, but I think with Jones being out for so long, he probably won't be at his best either. A decision for this weight class usually brings some pretty decent odds too. Jon Jones might come back, and be at his peak, but I think that's expecting a little bit too much from him. The safer bet is Jon Jones to win, I personally can't see Gane winning. Although, I'm not a fan of Gane, and have thought he's been over hyped for a while now, so consider that if you're listening to me. There's definitely a little bias there.

In reality, none of us know what sort of shape Jon Jones is in right now, and whether he can still pull off what he used to in the octagon.
158  Economy / Reputation / Re: User @Amph - sale of BTT account via PM! on: February 24, 2023, 05:12:45 PM
Also i think it's time the forum take serious with the sending of unsolicited PMs on the forum by users, what @Lucius could have done is to reported such PM to he moderator at first when he received such invite.
The forum does, I'm not saying to not report unsolicited personal messages, but reporting a message in hopes to get it verified publicly isn't going to fit in with the moderation guidelines, and therefore wouldn't be done. Of course, Lucius could've reported the personal message for being unsolicited, and I do urge users to report unsolicited messages.

Lucius probably did the right thing for their reputation announcing this to the public, and in fact seemed to be quite sensitive about providing the evidence of the personal message at first, since it's generally considered that personal messages are indeed that; personal. We don't know the intentions of the user on Telegram that was impersonating Lucius, or at the very least implying some sort of deception that they're Lucius.

159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 24, 2023, 05:07:11 PM
Since this weeks event is going to "not very interesting", and probably lots of you are going to skip and just watch replays, then I suggest you to spend few minutes and visit UFC 30th anniversary page. UFC has been with us for 30 years already. Just scroll down and swipe right UFC history. Lots of cool stuff there (that easily can be found on YouTube).
To be fair, almost every fight is interesting. Apart from that Rose vs Carla fight, don't get me started on that one. However, most fights are entertaining. I get a lot of fans don't like the wrestling aspect, but I enjoy that part as much as the striking, especially a high level grappling fight.

It's just less big names, and that's all really. Jon Jones has a pull to the UFC just because of his reputation, and the fact he's a brilliant fighter. However, this event might actually be more entertaining overall. I guess it depends on the person, but I enjoy MMA regardless who's fighting. I know there's a stigma against the women in MMA, which I also don't agree with. I find them just as entertaining, and they can be extremely technical.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 26 in Saudi Arabia on: February 24, 2023, 05:03:31 PM
Jake Paul actually took a paycut to make sure all the fighters on his undercard were paid career-highs so you have to respect that. Not many boxers would willingly take a pay cut like that to make sure other boxers were properly compensated. Jake even paid the fighters on the undercard 50% of their purse when his fight against Hasim Rahman Jr fell through: https://twitter.com/jakepaul/status/1555900413832220675

Love him or hate him at least Jake is standing behind his mouth.
Which is brillant, it's hard not to like someone willing to take a pay cut in order to feed other boxers which he thinks are getting under paid. That's brilliant. Alright, you could argue Jake Paul is already rich, therefore he's in the position to do things like this, where others aren't. However, he doesn't have too, and not many of the richer people before him did things like that.

I'm starting to become a Jake Paul fan, which is weird thing to be saying in 2022, when I didn't like his Youtube antics, and who he portrayed to the media all those years ago. However, to me he's really showing a different side to him, and I think I do believe most of what he has done in previous years was a character rather than himself.
