You can check ticket sales on the official website https://www.ufc.com/tickets, only available for fight tickets for the regular class and VIP experience. I don't know if tickets for the UFC conference are also on sale elsewhere or only available to journalists, but I've seen in previous press conferences that a lot of spectators fill the seats. So unfortunately the UFC conference was canceled due to conditions not allowing it to proceed due to the incident happening backstage, despite the difficult situation but I appreciate it if Dana White finally canceled it even though she revealed the incident first occurred at a press conference, but will it be rescheduled because the fight period is only 3 days from now?
Like I said, it might be included in your ticket or it might be a open conference. I don't know. It probably won't be rescheduled this close to the fights, fighters have to kick into gear, and get in the right head space. I imagine they'll interview them individually if it was a massive problem back stage, which it does sound like a few fists were thrown.

We've had altercations before on stage, and backstage, but this is one of the only times I remember it getting cancelled so there must have been a few hands thrown. That would be my guess anyway. Let's just hope none of the fights get cancelled on the back of the altercations.
1022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 09, 2022, 10:08:38 AM

Yeah boxing and UFC is a different combat sport. You'll probably exhaust yourself faster in boxing than in UFC. Keeping up against Jake Paul won't gonna be a huge problem for Anderson. He can do that, but it could potentially make the fight boring.
However, I don't see any huge advantages in either of them.
I find MMA faster paced, although boxing is a lot of the time a little more about sussing out your opponent, and finding gaps. I tend to find a lot of boxing fights are fighting for points where as in UFC damage, and finishing your opponents are actively encouraged by the organisation.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but they're just different. I actually struggle to watch boxing these days since watching UFC, and I used to be quite partial to some boxing. I only watch the heavyweights, and admittedly Jake Paul fights. Also some Loma fights.

I don't get why everyone is bashing on a young fighter who has a couple of fights, going against other beginner boxers. It's like they expect Jake Paul to go against Cancelo or someone, but then they'd be saying Cancelo took a easy fight. I don't think there's any winning in this, people just won't be happy regardless.

I say good on Jake. He's made a career in multiple industries, and quite frankly has the boxing purists actually wanting to watch his fights now, whether that's to route against him or not. Mayweather built a career on people wanting to see him get knocked out.
1023  Other / Meta / Re: What's minor thing that you find appreciative on Bitcointalk? on: September 09, 2022, 10:03:57 AM
I totally get some of your points, but the sort of "stepped" system of responses on Reddit is really underappreciated. In contrast to Bitcointalk, where you'd have to scroll down and check a few pages to see if someone has replied to someone's reply through a quote.
I think that's the key difference here. Reddit can be read in a hurry, and therefore it's a better system for certain types of content. However, Bitcointalk is designed to be read in a chronological order, and therefore everything read to keep relevant in the discussion.

The merit system probably wouldn't work as well with a upvote system either, since it becomes about popularity, and I like discovering newbies with good points to be made. I know it works on Reddit, obviously it's a very popular platform, but I just think from a discussion point of view I prefer the implementation here.

What I do like, from the forum software "discourse" is everyone can reply to a specific message, and it has a drop down menu. That system is chronological, but also has that additional functionality. It's just a shame that Discourse has a lot of other additional functionality which comes across messy. It's like they've tried to revolutionise every feature, which just congests it. I do like the quote system though.
1024  Other / Meta / Re: [In Development] Lightning forum tips on: September 09, 2022, 09:56:46 AM
I don't think that this will get enough traction on short term. Maybe on long term.
No offense, the idea / project is good, but I feel like the vast majority on bitcoinitalk is not generous.
I think it'll be the opposite. Those that have expressed interest in it will use it at the very beginning, but since there isn't going to be a lot of users using it in the first place, those users will likely drop off in the long term.

Generally speaking, not many people are willing to tip others for good information, a select few are more willing to give money for people that solved their problem, but with the internet these days, that's becoming less true since the information is already out there for free.

Also, it doesn't help that Bitcoin is literally treated like it's gold dust around here. The idea is good, and I could imagine it would be really fun to participate in, but in reality no one is going to want to continue to give tips in the long run.
1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 09, 2022, 09:51:14 AM
Silva fought a very diminished version of Chavez Jr. who didn't even bother to make weight for that fight. It wasn't even a very convincing win, it was just a matter of Chavez Jr. making very little effort to get a victory. It does nothing to show us what level Anderson Silva is at. Since then his only other fight was against a washed up Tito Ortiz making his boxing debut and then he was inactive for the past 12 months. At 47 years old, very minimal boxing experience, and a long layoff I don't see any way in which Silva can win.
Right, but isn't Anderson himself washed up? That's what people are claiming. So, a washed up fighter beat another washed up fighter, right? Jake Paul isn't champion material...at least not yet. I hope people realise that Jake is at the beginning of his career, and he isn't a seasoned fighter. That means he needs to build up to better opponents. Silva being one which is a legendary figure in MMA, and has a decent boxing record, especially recently is a decent opponent. Jake also tried to fight Tommy Fury, and people were making excuses that he was washed up. It's not like you'd put Jake against a top five, he hasn't even earned that right.

I think it's a good fight, and it's definitely not a sure win for either of them, which is what makes the fight interesting.
1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Heavyweight Battle of Britain - FURY vs JOSHUA on: September 09, 2022, 09:48:00 AM
The thing is, the fans have already started to turn against Joshua. I actually referred him to the golden boy back when he was winning. It was obvious he was going to get found out, and there was already questions on his desire, and chin. I do believe he has desire though, it's just after that Ruiz fight that took something out of him. He avoids the brawling which he was good at, and now looks to box. I'm sorry he isn't a technical boxer, he's better when he looks to knock the opponent out. Just look at him, he looks like he's been carved out of marbel.

He's now lost a lot of the fans, which is kind of ironic. Fans can be very fickle, and it's not like he's a terrible boxer, he's top four easily in his division. Anyway, I genuinely believe he doesn't just need one tune up fight, he needs several, and a big opponent before Fury. It's risky, but from a point of view of the promoters Wilder probably makes more sense. He has a chance somewhat there. If he can avoid that right hand, which I doubt he can, but if he can he probably would be able to outbox Wilder. Since Wilder isn't exactly a great boxer either.

Fury demolishes him, and his career probably derails even further. Like I said, he probably goes back to fighting, and winning against the Chisora's, and that would be a shame since when he was using his power he was exciting, and he needs to find that confidence against if he is to have any chance of success against Fury.

He almost certainly isn't going to outbox Fury.
1027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could drop to $10,000 by 2023 as the Fed normalizes interest rate policy on: September 09, 2022, 09:39:56 AM
You are right this set of influencers have deceived many people into believing such crab in the past, I still remember in the last few years back! say a year or two ago bitcoin holder Were less knowledgeable and are always on the lookout for news about Bitcoin market speculations from social media and they easily get misled by those they belief to have knowledge or influence on Bitcoin price/market.
Nothings changed in terms of knowledge. Back ten years ago we had more technical users because Bitcoin wasn't as well known, and wasn't as easy as it's today to access. The more accessible Bitcoin becomes the more newer non technical users join the fun. However, that isn't a bad thing. We want to make Bitcoin as simple as possible that mass adoption would be possible if we could ever get the masses to join. We don't want a complex currency which can only be used by those with technical knowledge.

Although, you'll find even veteran users with a ton of knowledge fall for speculation, that's just human nature. We're literally pattern recognising machines, and even when there isn't really a pattern we establish one. So, of course we'll speculate, and compare to the past. That's just human nature, and that ain't going to change.
1028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix bans ads Bitcoin or Crypto, Human Rights Foundation Donates. on: September 09, 2022, 09:35:28 AM
I feel like Netflix will need all the advertisements it can get, they seem to continue to make bad choices which causes them to loss subscribers. I used to have Netflix, but I haven't had it for years now. I felt they kept removing the old shows I loved, and were adding new ones which I basically had no interest in. I believe Heist was a Netflix original? That's probably the last one I liked. Other than that, I felt their production has gone down since.

I don't know what the reason is for them banning Bitcoin exactly, but I'm sure they'll go along the path of it not being eco friendly, and therefore had too stop advertisements. Didn't Netflix host one of the popular Bitcoin documentaries? Anyone know if that was removed?
1029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 09, 2022, 09:30:21 AM
I'll definitely be watching any clips of went down...I haven't been as interested in drama since early Ultimate Fighter days Tongue.

Are these pre-fight press conference and weigh-ins free or people buy tickets for that ?

This morning I've seen a video on Instagram of Tony Ferguson entering press conference, and saw that there were about 50 people there, fans and reporters, and the major part of conference room was empty. I've seen such events usually are crowded. And the UFC 279 has cool card. I was amazed of empty conference. Turns out there was a situation between fighters. Here is a good video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aey4gJY4fJs. Dana seems lost. Never seen him like this. As he was totally not ready for such situation and dont know what to do.
Free for journalists, but I'm actually not sure about the general public. I feel like Dana would want to make as much money as possible, but I've never seen weigh in tickets for sale. It might be included with your ticket? I'm not entirely sure. I've yet to be to a UFC event, which I'm hoping to change either next year or the year after.
1030  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 09, 2022, 09:24:15 AM
Yeah, my tactic from now on is to try, and make predictions other users wouldn't especially on certain games where the favourite is a heavy favourite, since that's when you start to pull away when you get those correct.

Yes, I don't think matches will be postponed, but it is the first time something like this has happened and I think in general feelings for her have always been very positive (unlike how royalty is like in most other parts of the world)
Wales, and Scotland probably the only exceptions. Some sour tastes in the mouth of Welsh people in particular with the Aberfan incident. Other than that she's probably well respect, and it seems a lot of Americans adored her for what ever reason that may be. She was a big draw in terms of tourism, and I don't think we'll get that with Charles.

Judging by how Royal Mail was on strike today, but now are in work. I'd say the Premier League would be unaffected. Like I said, just moments of silence, and probably a lot of her name mentioned. They'll probably have a few graphics up, and a bit of history before the games too.

EDIT: Never mind, all sporting events in the UK have been postponed. Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/62846756
1031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: September 08, 2022, 10:12:06 PM
I haven't put out my predictions yet since I'm still undecided on a few of the fights. I'll probably put out a prediction, as well as who I'm actually going to put on my bet slip as they'll likely differ for this event.

This are my picks so far but I could change something last minute after I listen to press conference and see face-offs.

Khamzat Chimaev to win by submission.
Li Jingliang win by decision; fight going to distance.
Kevin Holland win
Johnny Walker win

Don't forget to make your predictions for UFC 279 Multi Master Challenge and receive free bets from Sportsbet:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412533.0
Not sure about the Holland fight, depends. However, I'm liking the Holland pick. Still undecided on the Li Jingliang fight, and I think Khamzat tries to smash the living crap out of Diaz, and therefore it'll either be a knockout, or a decision in my opinion. Obviously, Diaz has a great chin so it could be interesting to see how that goes down.
1032  Other / Meta / Re: What's minor thing that you find appreciative on Bitcointalk? on: September 08, 2022, 10:07:41 PM
Why do you hate Reddit? Imo a forum having Reddit's format with upvoted posts being at the top(or probably merited, in this case) is a far more efficient way of reading.

P.S. While I like Reddit, I heavily dislike the Reddit r/Bitcoin and r/Cryptocurrency communities.
Efficiency is good in some ways, but in other ways it isn't. It suits Reddit because it's mainly a in the moment, hype, sort of relevancy website, whereas Bitcointalk is about discussion. Having discussion being interrupted by who thinks what deserves to be seen more than others isn't exactly a discussion, it's a popularity contest.

I like Reddit for reading certain things, however to contribute there would be an absolute nightmare, hence why I don't have an account, and just use it for reading material. When I need to know something quick, and have the most accepted answer right there in front of me, that's usually the place I go for non technical stuff, whereas StackExchange would be my go to for more technical stuff.

I like the discussion element of this forum, and there's no hiding of posts because you simply disagree with them. Have you ever seen those "unpopular opinion...but" type of posts, the posters know it's not a unpopular opinion, and therefore it gets upvotes. The whole place is like that, most of the time replies aren't even answering the question, it's who came across the funniest.

That's personally why I don't like Reddit. Plus, the upvote system is usually misused on mass, which also contribute towards my dislike, especially when I don't like how things are implemented to begin with.

Bitcointalk is a discussion forum, not a Q&A or a place where people become to be funny or hip. I like that.
1033  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 08, 2022, 10:02:02 PM
given the current events in Britain, will Matchweek 7 and 8 get suspended? i can't find any news about it, only that the protocol suggests a national mourning for 12 days
once in a lifetime opportunity.

I think he's a decent coach, but very overhyped by the local media.
Possibly. I know BBC changed their scheduling today, and I believe there's a certain amount of days of mourning or something like that, so scheduling could potentially be changed until then. However, Sky, and the likes don't have to conform to that, and it all depends on what the guys behind the English Premier League want to do.

I'd expect it continues, but they'll definitely have respects paid, and probably a minute of silence. Although, none of us can be sure because for a lot of people this is the first time something like this has happened in their life time, so anyone's guess really.
1034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 08, 2022, 09:43:19 AM
What are you guys thinking about the Chelsea vs Fulham game? With Chelsea's current situation I actually see them dropping points here. The team hasn't performed all that well with Tuchel, and now he's been sacked we'll either see a bounce back or what I think is more likely go through a transitional period which might see them drop points that you'd normally expect them to get.

Fulham is hard to judge since I've only really watched the Liverpool game they had, and considering how bad we're at the moment, it's hard to see if they're actually playing decent or just looked good against us.

who is on the 42nd place after moving 5 positions up. What pleases me is that we have traveled only through 6 rounds out of our 38 rounds long journey. Much can change within the next 2-3 rounds, let alone all of them.
Just to be clear, and that you don't get the wrong idea. I wish you the best of luck, but you're not allowed to overtake me at any point in this season, at least from now Tongue. It's not sanctioned, I'm sitting comfortably in my 42nd slot with .5 more points, and I'd like that to be respected Cheesy.
1035  Economy / Reputation / Re: The most influential people of the forum. Who are they? on: September 08, 2022, 09:25:16 AM
Satoshi may have over 1 million Bitcoin but would have no influence over the direction of Bitcoin now because it has grown in to something way beyond what Satoshi expected. Satoshi could be revered, loved or loathed in various measures by various groups but will not be able influence anything crypto related no matter how many people would blindly follow.
The world wide web hasn't got a lot of enemies. A lot of people made money from it. Whereas Bitcoin, has the potential to make people money, but it goes directly against our fiat system which is exploited by many people due to the way it's designed. So, Satoshi returning would likely mean people would try to find dirt on them, and they might return without revealing themselves, which would be great, but the more active Satoshi is, the more of a profile people can put together, and therefore the more likely they're to finding their identity.

I think it could be bad, regardless if Satoshi hasn't got any dirt. Dirt would likely be pinned on him, and all sorts of rumours floating about, and it's much easier to do that when there's a identity to connect it too. We've seen our news system run with stories without credibility before, so I haven't got a whole lot of confidence in them to not report bogus stories if they have the chance.
1036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Video Gaming Sector Consumes More Energy Than Bitcoin Mining. on: September 08, 2022, 09:09:57 AM
So, Arcane research were the ones to conduct the research. So, I decided to take a look at their research paper, which is locked behind an account. Needless to say, I'm not going to make an account just to read their paper. However, from what I can gather from this regurgitated article, they've basically only estimated what could be true, rather than actually looking at figures, and data. Seriously, how did they manage to determine what people are using their energy bills for?

That data is usually private, and the energy companies to my knowledge only have access to how much electricity you're using, and not specifically what it has been used for. There can be estimates based on the usage, for example a spike in data could suggest a kettle was used etc, and there's definitely correlations that can bring you a educated guess, but you wouldn't be able to accurately predict these to have any degree of confidence.

If they've conducted a survey, they're usually grossly misrepresentative, and drawing conclusions from them isn't the best way to go about things, especially if you want to convince others that it's true, since it's based on guess work, and relying on the surveyors non bias answers, as well as accuracy.
1037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could drop to $10,000 by 2023 as the Fed normalizes interest rate policy on: September 08, 2022, 09:02:09 AM
The energy crisis which is looming is only for Europe although even US pays higher gas prices because of Russia the true crisis is for Europe. In such scenario we have seen Bitcoin perform better than expected like during the pandemic. The interest rate has no direct connection to the price of Bitcoin so we cannot predict the bottom although with how things are looking now we can expect the price of Bitcoin to be bearish for the short term while for the long term I know it will bounce back after we are deep in the energy crisis and inflation one.It did so on the pandemic so why it should not do so at that time?
Europe will likely look elsewhere for their energy, because I don't think they have the infrastructure in place currently, and therefore the US might actually benefit from this whole scenario. US has the infrastructure, and the means of shipping it over long distance. So, I imagine a lot of European countries will start building the infrastructure required to become self reliant, but that'll take a good couple of years at full swing, so the US could well see a small boom from this.

Bitcoin isn't run by the US though, despite the US centric news everywhere, so Bitcoin isn't likely to benefit from it. Bitcoin will likely feel the effect of the boom for the US, and the downside of the energy crisis in Europe.

We can't say it's bounced back after the pandemic, since we're still in a pandemic, and therefore the effects have been compounded on each other. The effects usually don't play out until later down the line for these sort of things. So, I definitely wouldn't go as far to say that we've rebounded back after the pandemic. Technically, we're still in one.
1038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul VS Anderson Silva October 29th on: September 08, 2022, 08:58:34 AM
People this whole thing where people think a 47 year old Silva who boxed 3 times is a good fight to watch is insane.  Mma and boxing are 2 wildly different sports even though sometimes they look the same.  For a natural boxing fan watching this crap it's cringy when ypu watch these guys try to box "professionally".  It's fun for a round like a car accident ypu can't look away but to think it's a solid match to watch is....  Roll Eyes
I watched Silva just a year ago, and he looked good in the boxing ring, and went up against someone with 50 odd fights, and only a few losses. That's not something to turn your nose up too. That wasn't expected, like I said he was the underdog in that fight. So, despite being 46 at the time I believe, he still did a job, and looked good doing it. Jake obviously is younger, but it's unlikely that Silva has aged so much in a year that he doesn't at least put on a decent performance giving the chance.

Obviously, there's a chance Jake knocks him out early since Silva has been known to leave openings, but that's mainly due to his fighting style. I believe he was knocked out way back when he first entered the boxing scene, if my memory serves me correctly that is.
1039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Anderson Silva [rumours] on: September 08, 2022, 08:55:17 AM
I'll lock the thread, continue discussion over at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412630.0

The version of Chavez Jr. that fought Silva is in no way better than Jake Paul. I don't really consider Anderson Silva to be a step up from Woodley and any of the non-boxers that Jake Paul has faced. The only reason for fighting Silva is because he has a name that can sell. This fight will not do anything to legitimize Jake Paul as a serious boxer.
I'd disagree, definitely a step up from Woodley, and the reason for is he'll be active. Woodley even in his MMA days was known for freezing. I think his nickname was the "frozen one" or something along those lines. That's exactly what we saw against Jake Paul, he barely threw a shot. Whereas Silva will at least be putting some volume out, and that might mean he leaves an opening, but at least there will be something coming back at Jake this time around.

what can I say, I already said few times that City will win this season easily, although did not expect to see Liverpool this bad
Yeah, I didn't think so. I thought Haaland would be injury prone like he has been in his career, and I thought they would miss Sterling to an extent. The opposite is true, and I've been made to look like a fool. Isn't Haaland on 12+ goals already? He's practically already won the golden boot at this rate, and City look to have already secured the league, apart from maybe Arsenal. However, going by Arsenal's injury rate, they'll soon start picking them up, and won't be able to compete.

regarding Superbru, you have "Round results", and there you can pick any round to check results in that particular round (it is a drop down many, first from the left)
Cheers for that. I found what I was looking for anyway, round 6 last round. I was fourth which isn't bad, seems like I'm starting to pick it up. I've actually had some decent score predictions which have landed, it's just other games that I've predicted wrong, and end up having zero cancelling out my exact predictions.

Round 6 I got zero from the Liverpool game, and Bournmouth as well as the City game, and Arsenal. I went for a draw on the City game hoping that could potentially net me some points others wouldn't get. Obviously, City are on fire so probably won't be doing that again.
