^  But you gotta give some credit to Man United and Ten Hag by making the right choice of dropping Maguire and Ronaldo.  I do hope next time we see that squad but with Martial at the left instead of Elanga.  But yeah...  I think their win was a fluke.  Liverpool wasn't that bad.  It's just United made most of their possessions while Liverpool did not.  This weekend I'm guessing Southampton could be a problem for them.

Draw no bet for Southampton is 3.05, double chance is at 2.07.  United hasn't won a match in their last 7 away matches.
Yeah, I'm not saying it wasn't a deserved performance, I'm just naturally disappointed about the state we are in right now. Honestly, Man United showed some passion, and that's the best I've seen them play in a over a year. It just had to be against us.

Liverpool have some teething problems to sort out, but I'm not overly worried. I'm worried that this might be the resurgence Man United were looking for, which of course being a Liverpool fan is something I don't want to see.

I'm going with Southampton if that's worth anything, seems like a typical United thing to do.
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 24, 2022, 10:37:21 AM
Yeah, we played well enough in the first two games, we had shitty starts but at least improved, and we almost did enough for another draw at United but there's something in the languid form of VVD (he's always appeared that way but his focus seems totally out the last 3 games). Lazy, as you said, something's just off, can't explain it.
If I were to describe VVD it would be nonchalant, but I do think something isn't quite right at the moment. I'm hoping either Matip or Konate are back sooner rather than later, I haven't really been keeping up with the preseason injuries so aren't sure the extent of them, but obviously we're missing something in the midfield, as well as the defense.

I just hope we sort it out quickly, before the hope of competing for the title disappears.

Amazing moment of history, and I managed to fall asleep! I'm interested to see how Usman performs after this. Never been knocked out I believe? That can make a fighter a little more cautious going forward, and Usman wasn't much of a risk taker to begin with. Are we going to see a more wrestling dominant approach from him from now on?

I think so. Although, Leon had him on the ground a few times which to be honest I was a little surprised by. Even if Usman dominated up until the point of getting knocked out, you've got to give Leon the credit for still threatening with his kick boxing.
1144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 23, 2022, 11:48:53 PM
Well, I'm not performing as I'd like in the leaderboards. I'm blaming that on the odd start of the season we've had. I'm also annoyed at Liverpool, not that they've cost me points in the pool, but the fact that they just don't seem to be motivated at all at the moment. I know we have our injuries, but to lose against United in the manner that we did, absolutely abysmal.

It's either going to be a very long season or a very long wait until we get through this bad patch, obviously the injuries are playing a role, but there's no excuse why we saw quite a few of our players being lazy on the pitch. VVD was one of the worst on the field for it on Monday.
1145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2022, 08:48:51 PM
It is going to be a really very exciting thing to watch Casemiro wearing Manchester United jersey. Manchester United are prepared to sacrifice this much high amount of money for a 30-year-old player. And this shows how desperate the team are now. If it weren't for the disastrous results in the last two league matches, Erik ten Hag wouldn't want a player who has a profile like Casemiro. Because during the whole summer Manchester United's name was being called with Frenkie de Jong.
Shows a similar pattern to what they've gone for in the past. Even if Casemiro turns out good, which to be honest he probably will, he's still surrounded in the players they've currently got, which are under performing, and clearly don't want to be there.

By the time United ship out that dead wood, Casemiro their big signing would be at the tail end of his career. So, it's a lot of money for a player which will likely stabilise the ship a little, but won't completely save it from sinking.
1146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2022, 08:44:24 PM
Thiago is a key player for Liverpool, but we've been really hit hard with the injuries. If we had Jota, and at least one other midfielder right now, I don't think we'd be in the position we are in. Injuries are telling to story in these results, and having to rely on a new signing isn't always the best option. Well, if you look at how Klopp normally handles new signings, apart from VVD, basically everyone he has signed has a bedding in period before becoming a first team player. So, Nunes didn't have that option.

I'm still confident against United, I might have to adjust my scoring system as I wasn't expecting some of the dire performances we've seen as of recent, and I was looking forward to seeing Nunez play against United, but I guess a similar thing would've happened with his attitude at the moment.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of psychological tricks that casinos use. on: August 19, 2022, 08:34:23 PM
Not that I'll ever experience this, but if you're gambling a rather large amount, they'll target you for free drinks, and sometimes free accommodation depending on your spending habits. Of course, it's not really free, since they're trying to keep you in the casino a lot longer, and have been monitoring you via CCTV or by just watching you.

I think this is a commonly known thing though, so nothing out of the ordinary. I'm not a particular fan of this method though. Any method really, honestly. Seems unethical to me.
1148  Other / Meta / Re: The forum needs 2FA on: August 19, 2022, 08:02:31 PM
So like this: "I want to login to Bitcointalk using account LoyceV signing code jT9ZJqD5qExjN4ERNtP9aQ" (where "jT9ZJqD5qExjN4ERNtP9aQ" is generated by the forum)? That would work, but is a lot more work than just opening my browser, typing a "b", and pressing enter.
Yeah, something along those lines. We don't require a over the top system, something basic, but functional. I'm not one for pretty things, that doesn't add much additional functionality.

You would be surprised how easy is to do this installing open source graphene os, than you add few apps like Aegis and even some Bitcoin wallets.
Having Aegis 2FA keys on smartphone like this is much safer if you add secure password.
Yeah, all of my phones are degoogled, and while sometimes that can pose problems, honestly I haven't run into many. The camera usually has the most difficult, despite having gcam ports, and open camera. Anyway, you still need to ideally trust the developers behind the custom ROM you install, which isn't always easy.

I've even resorted to installing Google apps, via Aurora Store since it's a open source alternative, and honestly most applications work right out of the box, and some are missing functionality, but not completely broken. Only a few rely on Google services so much they break completely, and then you have things like MicroG which can get them working with the bare minimum functionality of Google services.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 19, 2022, 07:58:32 PM
Right, early leans:
- Usman
- Aldo
- Amir Albazi
- Luke Rockhold

Luke being my most uncertain, depends what type of Costa turns up on the night.

I think he was talking about an assault on Covington after the a loss. He has punched Covington twice outside of a restaurant. As I remember Covington suffered a brain injury and a broken tooth due to that. At first Masvidal was found not guilty, but right now he is facing a pre-trial in the end of August 29. Knowing what kind of Covington person is (I really hope he only playing a role of a bad guy all the time) and that war between old friends, he will do his best to make Masvidal life worse.

Ah yeah, I vaguely remember that, I think I dismissed it as post fight hype to maybe setup another fight down the line, didn't realise it was actually real. I'm somewhat disconnected from the drama outside the fighting though, I just turn up on a Saturday, and watch basically.
1150  Other / Meta / Re: [SURVEY] Who thinks the Lemmings should also be removed as Merit Sources? on: August 19, 2022, 08:31:27 AM
Contradictions aside - any person who requests to be removed from DT1 is saying they don't want to be trusted.  So, why should we trust them to dispense merits?

What's their end-game?
Hard to really say without actually knowing how we're referring too, but there's plenty of reasons why someone might not want to be on DefaultTrust, including one which has already been mentioned; drama. While not all DefaultTrust participate in the drama, there's plenty that do get sucked into it. However, aside from that there's the extra scrutiny of leaving trust feedback, they might not want to be held as accountable, since whatever a DefaultTrust does can effectively have a larger impact than a user that isn't on DefaultTrust, I can see how that would worry some users.

The thing is, I bet you don't trust a lot of DefaultTrust, while another user might trust all of them. I myself, have found respect, and would trust certain users that aren't on DefaultTrust, so it's swings in roundabouts. DefaultTrust doesn't automatically qualify as trustworthy for everyone, same as not being on it, especially if it's self elected.
1151  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: August 18, 2022, 12:51:18 PM
I would take the piece of paper, but I would not take or move the coins. I know that my intentions aren't bad and I am OK taking it. I can't say the same thing about the next person that walks down the same path on the beach I did. I would then do all I can to find the wallet's owner, but even if I failed I wouldn't move the coins or consider them to be mine. I wouldn't give the paper wallet to the police. I have seen their competence when a friend of mine had his wallet stolen. Someone found it empty of all money and returned it to the nearest police station. The rest of their procedure is a joke I am not going to get into right now.
It's why I gave a few possibilities, by removing that piece of paper or whatever the deemed backup is, you could potentially be making it impossible for the original user to recover it. However, as you rightly said, that wallet could've come from miles away since the tides could be covering it. I'm kind of glad that this discussion came up, since the beach provides certain moral decisions, which aren't easy to make, as there seems to be a scope of consequences whatever you might decide to do, hence why I compared it to the train tracks, where doing nothing also presents a problem.

One thing for sure is, you know your intentions, but while those intentions might be good, removing that wallet could potentially hinder the recovery of it. It's a bit like the butterfly effect where your decisions can alter things, that you weren't planning on altering.
1152  Other / Meta / Re: Sending merit to merit worthy posts to team members. How would you look at it? on: August 18, 2022, 12:37:42 PM
Consider your motivations in sending the merit, if they're sound then you're unlikely to receive any major problems. You might get challenged, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're in the wrong. There has been a certain standard set by the community, and as long as the posts are somewhat conforming to that standard I don't see too much of a issue. It only becomes an issue if you're doing it for other reasons, rather than the quality of their posts.

The thing is, merit has become almost absolutely associated with earning opportunities due to signature campaigns, so users tend to become suspicious due to the fact you're looking to exploit merit, and therefore enrol alternate accounts on signature campaigns. If that isn't the case or you aren't looking to exploit it in another way, like I said you shouldn't have too many major problems.
1153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How often do you use Bitcoin? on: August 18, 2022, 12:33:14 PM
I believe the answers would be heavily dependent on the region the respondents are from. There are places with a greater online purchase culture than most and they would have more options to use Bitcoin directly for purchases.
Yeah, I suspect those living in cities will have much more opportunities than those that don't to spend their Bitcoin. I literally don't know how a shop that accepts cryptocurrencies around me. If you go to Cardiff, I'm sure you'll see quite a few, but even then I don't think it's widespread. I imagine bigger cities in America are the ones which will be finding more use for Bitcoin.

I literally only use Bitcoin when its only Bitcoin being accepted, and usually at a good price. My latest transaction was joining a betting group over in the gambling section, and before that I hadn't made a Bitcoin purchase in as long as I can remember. I've become a hoarder basically.

I've said before though, as soon as mortgages, groceries, and utilities are accepting Bitcoin, then Bitcoin becomes a much more lucrative thing to use for almost everyone. Until then, it'll probably be hoarded by the vast majority.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 18, 2022, 12:28:59 PM
I heard that Masvidal suddenly has legal problems, I think it will be impossible for him to fight anyone this year. But they can do a little trick, they can change the state or something. There was a small gap in the law, I know they did this before. Anyway, for the real fight, Khamzat will smash Diaz, take no pity on him and finish him off. A bad ending for Diaz...
What's the legal issues with Masvidal? I can't seem to find much on it with a search. Seems he's been pretty active on Twitter, and still pushing for a fight?

As for a bad ending for Diaz, do we actually think he'll retire? Seems like one of those fighters that has been around forever, and will continue to fight long after he probably should've retired, receiving quite a few beat downs.

I like Diaz, but he definitely isn't the same fighter, and I've never been a huge fan of him anyway. So, I wouldn't mind seeing him hang it up after the fight.
1155  Economy / Economics / Re: Lenders and borrowers during inflation on: August 18, 2022, 12:26:06 PM
👉👉Conclusion: People with good and profitable businesses can borrow money to boost their business during inflation. They will always be at the gaining side if the money is utilized well.
Somewhat. Although, there's no guarantee of it. We have to remember that assets generally depreciate in value because they get dings, scratches or just degrade with time. So, selling a second hand asset is usually more difficult than selling a new. Obviously, this sort of ignores collectors items, but cars for example are generally considered to have already lost a few k on their price as soon as you drive them off the forecourt.

However, as long as your loanee pays back the amounts required, lenders will always gain. That's sort of the broken system we live in, where normal people require to lend off the rich, and as a result the average person loses in the long run, while the rich get richer. That's basically how the system is designed, and as worked for as long as we've all been alive.

Inflation isn't really a bad thing for the rich, they'll profit enormously on it.
1156  Economy / Economics / Re: Pros/cons of deflation? on: August 18, 2022, 12:21:54 PM
High inflation is bad and so is high deflation. Low inflation is not as bad, and so is low deflation. 0 is best.
The thing is, low inflation is almost impossible to achieve since inflation tends to compound onto existing inflation, and therefore increasing it. I don't think realistically in the world we live in, with all the anomalies that present themselves, low inflation is achievable in the long term.

At the moment to slash inflation, we're basically introducing measures which will guarantee we have to raise inflation in the future. Allowing people to buy things cheaper, is only a temporary measure, and because of the way capitalism works, temporarily loaning people money or giving them allowances only helps in the short term, and again inflation rises in the long term.

Capitalism, and inflation go hand in hand, but it doesn't work. Maybe, another ideology would help with inflation, but for the time being I genuinely believe a deflationary system is going to be best for most people.

1157  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dead member account suddenly active? on: August 18, 2022, 12:17:30 PM
What if the account is being used by more than person in the first place and then one of the operators dies?

And what happens if someone is (let us say) dead and their account has been tagged but they have opted to have their brain cryogenically stored and they return back to the forum decades later?
Which is happening, especially with branded accounts which are representing a company, basically employees are using it, rather than a central figure. However, I guess that could be argued to be different, since its representing the brand, and not the person behind the account.

Really though, I don't think too many users here are sharing their account with someone else, seems like you wouldn't gain much, other than potential privacy by reducing stylometry. Other than that, I would think the cons outweigh the pros.
1158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 18, 2022, 12:07:06 PM
Worth noting, that the Man United fans are planning a protest, and therefore the match might get cancelled. I hope it doesn't, and honestly I believe there should be penalties for the club if it does, since its their doing. If it gets cancelled we should be given the points, and United should forfeit, otherwise any club could stage a protest when their players are injured etc.

I understand protests, I just wish there was a better way of going about it. A lot of fans are having their first experience watching Liverpool/United, and it ends up getting cancelled, which might mean they can't afford to go for quite some time again. So, while I definitely do agree, I'd like to see them protest outside of matches too, and not just on match days.

If the game does go ahead, I'll probably be going for a 2-0/3-0 to us, considering we aren't firing on all cylinders right now, and have a few injuries.
1159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: RUIZ VS ORTIZ SUN, SEP 04, 2022 10PM ET EASTERN TIME/ on: August 18, 2022, 12:03:30 PM
But he seems to lost weight already and not the fight Ruiz anymore? Or maybe that extra body weight on him really help him in the Joshua fight as he packs a lot of power to Anthony's face.

However, that is years ago, he lost in the rematch and now both in the middle, a career crossroads.

So whoever loss in this fight, he needs to make some big decisions in the future, whether to continue to work or just quit it completely.
For Ortiz, I can see the reasoning. However, Ruiz has looked good much of his career it was only after the second fight against Joshua he lost his way a little bit. There's plenty of time for him to bounce back from that, given he remains as dedicated as he was prior to that fight. You've got to feel for him, never really had big fights prior to the first Joshua fight, then knocks him out giving him his first loss, and obviously that sudden fame, and money can get to a person, and it clearly got to Ruiz.

I think he said in an interview he couldn't stop partying, and that's going to effect your career. Plenty of trainers, and fighters have said he wouldn't come training after that, and its probably due to not being ready for that sort of exposure, and wealth.

Ruiz is a good fighter, and very fast for his size. If he can get a few wins under his belt, he might just discover that passion he had before the money. Plus, by the sounds of it he might have wasted a lot of that money he won, and therefore that could've dried up or be close to doing so reigniting that fire he had once before.
1160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 18, 2022, 11:59:49 AM
Honestly, I can see Nate getting dominated in every area. I'm not particularly looking forward to that fight, neither from a entertainment point of view or for betting. Odds are going to be massively in favour of Chimaev, and he'll probably get the finish rather quickly. Nate doesn't have the ground skills to mitigate the attacks from Chimaev, and honestly I think he just gets over powered on the feet.

I'd rather Masvidal since I think he would cope better on the feet, but again on the ground he's nothing compared to Chimaev so the fight could be over whenever Chimaev decides too. Burns it was different, since he had a threat on the ground, and the feet, plus is generally rather underrated by the fans, and fighters.
