Man, I had a ridiculous amount of money (relative to how I gamble) riding on Liverpool to win
Me too. Not a massive stake, around my usual. However, it was combined with four other matches. One of them being us to beat Everton with a clean sheet, and then Arsenal to win, Wolves to win, and Man City to win with a clean sheet. I also had a few other things sprinkled in like number of cards, and no red cards. Anyway, Wolves are the only team to let me down, and that's simply by not winning. They had a tonne of bloody shots too. Anyway, you win some, and you lose the majority as the saying goes...

I'm hoping I do a little better once I figure out the form of teams. Seems, it's quite a bit different from previous seasons. Also, like I said being a Liverpool fan has destroyed me the last few weeks.
1102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: September 01, 2022, 01:20:01 PM
Not sure how the public will address it though. Maybe we can see more funnier side of Tyson with his family. And obviously, this partnership with Netflix will make them another huge money, avenue for more wealth right after boxing.
He's already done something similar, which showed his home life, and went through his mental health issues, which I've mentioned before. I think it was the "Tyson Fury The Gypsy King", but I might be mistaken. It was a good watch, and didn't have the drama in it like other reality tv shows you've mentioned.

It's not a bad thing, and like I said before I quite enjoyed watching it. A bit of perspective on his life, and how he still lives in a average persons home, and neighbourhood. Obviously, he has money, and that's quite evident with the things he has parked outside, but generally I got a decent impression of him. Obviously, documentaries are filmed with his consent, so they're unlikely to make him look bad.
1103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Parliament Group Seeks Views from Crypto Industry Players on: August 31, 2022, 09:26:48 PM
Uk economy need serious acceleration. I hope they see bitcoin and crypto as a potential economic opportunities and develop a crypto friendly ecosystem. This will greatly help Bitcoin and crypto to grow.
Doubtful, especially in the current market. Maybe, years down the line when Bitcoin shows a little more stability, but right now I don't any country would be willing to take the risk. Especially, the UK who are what I would say a little more slow on technology uptake, especially with the government. I mean, we still have a monarchy Tongue.

UK also isn't in dire straits compared to a lot of other countries out there, and therefore they haven't got desperate enough to try new alternatives. UK was somewhat late in bringing in taxation for Bitcoin, but they've since made the most of it.
1104  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: same passphrase, different results on: August 31, 2022, 09:23:39 PM
Yeah, basically there's no universal standard that everyone is following, although most do seem to be quite consistent, there will always be outliers which do things a little different, and while that does add to the confusion, especially when using one of the outliers, and you come to realize years later it only works on said application, which could become obsolete or no longer usable.

If you're generating a brain wallet, it's probably best to opt for the more universally accepted generation. Any particular reason why you're using pycoin?

Our youngsters are starting to show mental strength for being in the mentality monster squad Tongue. Seriously what stars we have, and I'm a little disappointed that BT Sports didn't give the man of the match to Elliott, I thought he was by far the best player on the pitch, and instead fall for the classic trap of getting sucked into a new player signing, and scoring. When in reality Isak didn't play much of a role for much of the game. Yeah, he scored a offside goal, but that shouldn't factor into your decision making. Elliott was everywhere.

It does seem City have the league on easy mode at the moment, but I'm convinced that we'll be in the running once we sort out our injuries. I expect Joel Matip to be back next week or the week after, even though I thought Gomez did a decent job tonight.

Also, my performance in the table hasn't been what I'd have hoped. Liverpool have cost me some points Cheesy.

I'm going to get back to my predictions this weekend, finally. Anyway, early leans are Gane, as many of you know I'm not a massive fan of him, but as much as I love bam bam, and the shoey's after the fights, I just don't see him catching Gane. The thing is about Tai his success comes from fighters that are willing to brawl, a bit like the Lewis fight. However, Gane isn't going to stand in front of him, and instead will look to tough Tai, and then get out of there.

So, my favourite of the weekend would be Gane, and by the looks of the odds 1.18 at my bookie, they agree. I'm not saying there isn't a chance, and I'll definitely be cheering on Tai, but I think it's probably the most logical bet of the weekend.
1107  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] BitcoinTalk User Notes on: August 30, 2022, 10:09:41 PM
Thanks for sharing. I actually made something like this a while ago for personal use, didn't think too many users would find a use for it, but it comes in handy with moderation, especially when it comes to repeat offenders. However, mine stopped working, and I never really sat down long enough to figure it out, and therefore just got rid of it.

Then please answer my question, Is it safe to use?

People seem inclined to like things from open source, but since Tampermonkey is from closed sources then security questions regarding privacy or such seem worth asking. Instead of blabbering, I'm just telling you I haven't tried it.

But I really appreciate your work @Tryninja.
It's used by a lot of people, but that doesn't mean it's safe. You shouldn't be relying on others when it comes to verifying the source or if you do, make sure it's someone that doesn't have any motives, and you trust.

Short answer is, it's trusted by thousands of others, but there's nothing stopping this from becoming malicious at any point, especially if you have auto updates enabled for extensions (browser specific).
1108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 29, 2022, 09:26:49 PM
Bloody Newcastle. I swear they look great against City, yet still manage to lose, and then look lost. Although, in their defense they were missing a lot of their first team players this time around. On the other hand, Liverpool have finally turned up to a game of football this season, the great news is some of our injured players are starting to come back or are close to coming back. I believe Matip is now training with the squad, so shouldn't be too long where we have a first team back four. Not sure how far Konate is off at the moment.

I'm waiting for Jota to come back the most though, we need his threat despite the 9-0 win. Jota is just one of those players who can play subpar, but can get you that decisive goal. I'm feeling optimistic looking at Cities performances, despite winning them they've looked questionable at times. Obviously, no more questionable than Liverpool have, however I take a little confidence that it's obvious why we've had problems with the amount of players we've had out.

In terms of the leader boards, I'm definitely performing how I'd expect, rather poorly. I'm hoping once I suss out team forms, and where teams are with their new signings I start to pick more consistently.
1109  Other / Meta / Re: Additional security measures to keep account secure on: August 27, 2022, 04:28:51 PM
There's very likely users here that haven't used a valid email, and therefore wouldn't be able to verify anything. Of course, you could argue that's an issue to start with since they don't have that safety net, but an email is just something else you'd need to keep secure, so I do see the logic behind it. Also, some might not care for giving the forum an email they own, and therefore made an invalid one for privacy.

These things we've got to be extra conscious of, since Bitcoin does sort of attract the more privacy conscious minds.

I've already chosen my predictions, and I've just glanced over them, and they seem fitting enough. I had Man United losing anyway Wink. So, I'm not going to change it due to the result they had against us. I still saw massive problems despite their performance. They'll likely get found out in the next few weeks again, like I said I think the media is taking this a little bit too far, but what can I say British media usually does.

Liverpool will bounce back, it's just a question of when. Southampton at 4.00+ odds is very enticing though, I might have to put a little bit on them to spice up my accumulator a little bit.
1111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 26, 2022, 10:25:31 PM
A Gane vs Ngannou is sure a big event again, its however disappointing if none is a risk taker in a battle to do something crazy enough to entertain audience. They better promise the fight not to end in a Decision.

Despite his past results, I see Gane as a rather boring fighter despite his mobility. Unfortunately for us Ngannou can't really connect with Gane all that much due to that movement, and the fact Ngannou is much slower than Gane. So, we're sort of in limbo where the one fighter is going for a knock out, but is a little slow, and then the other fighter is more than happy just point fighting for a decision.

I'll be routing for Ngannou, at least he looks to make fights entertaining, and he showed heart in their last fight to take the route he wasn't really all that prepared to take, but did it anyway, and it actually was the difference between winning, and losing. Without Ngannou doing any of that, the fight was rather forgettable.

1112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: August 26, 2022, 10:21:23 PM
Fury is a new breed of heavyweight, there's no heavyweight in the past that was as huge and as fast and as agile as Fury he can in fact considered as a super heavyweight who moves like a lightweight.
Funny that you say that, since a lot of people claim the same for Usyk. Although, for me Fury is the superior technical boxer, but I know a lot of people will argue against that. It's easy to look a bit clumsy when you're bigger, and to be honest Fury does a good job of it, and is very technical. I think his large size takes away from that a bit at times. Plus, he does have a history of trying different tactics.

Usyk is good, but he hasn't been tested enough for me. Honestly, Joshua to me was the easiest route, and this second fight wasn't as dominant as the first. So, I have quite a lot of confidence in Fury getting the win.
1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 26, 2022, 06:56:17 PM
Remember tho that the match between them is a 5 rounder.  I think Gane is gonna finish Tuivasa around the third or the fourth or something.  Tuivasa is susceptible of getting finished in the past as his record shows.  I'm not sure where the books have lined the over/under but if it's 2.5 and over is at plus money, I'd say over.

Anyway, I'm not really sure why the UFC decided to make Gane and Tuivasa the main event.  Whitaker bs Vettori seems like it's a higher level match and the winner of the match could get a shot at the belt again.
Yeah, it's probably not the most probable outcome, but it will give a decent return I would expect. Actually, just looking at it; 2.75 for the fight to go the distance, which is rather low, I was expecting a little more given the history of these two, especially since Tai doesn't really defend all that well. 3.25 for a Gane decision looks somewhat enticing though.

The only thing over 2.5 on my bookie is over 4.5. Under 3.5 at 1.72 though which isn't terrible if you're thinking he could get knocked out here.
1114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 26, 2022, 12:01:21 PM
With how volatile things are today, I think mining is not worth it much anymore unless you have a very large budget.  You have so many things to take into account.  Mining rigs are limited.  GPU's (Bitcoin is not GPU mineable by default but I am putting this here just for the sake of the argument) have volatile stock and prices.  Electricity costs are also volatile, but mostly increasing.  There are some countries pulling out the crackdown card on mining.  You need maintenance for your rigs.  You have to know what you are doing and, last but not least, you have to pay electricity which is pretty much like exchanging electricity for Bitcoin and your equipment will need upgrade every now and then.
Or organisations. I know of a few which basically rent a place, and chuck a lot of miners into the space. If you have the budget, then mining is almost guaranteed money, of course as long as you believe in Bitcoin. For the nerds comment you might be right, the difficulty, and the recent volatility has probably made that even more true. Mining used to be relatively easy to get into, and make a profit a year ago. That's no longer the case.

Mining requires a significant initial budget, that a lot of people would prefer to invest straight into buying Bitcoin rather than mining, especially with the difficultly, and the fact that a lot of mining devices aren't readily available to watch.
1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 26, 2022, 11:40:48 AM
If you aren't mining beyond that one Bitcoin or you don't want to maintain the devices, buying Bitcoin at the current prices might actually be the most profitable in the long term. Since, there will come a time where that mining device has either deteriorated beyond repair or simply doesn't cut it much longer. Depending on your electrical costs, and your personal circumstances,  you might not be using the mining equipment to its full potential. Whereas, buying Bitcoin you know exactly what you're going to get at the moment of purchase, while mining you generally have a good idea, there's a few other things that could potentially go wrong during the equipments life span.

As for cloud mining, I'd stay away personally. Whenever you involve a third party, there's room for getting screwed, which is something that Bitcoin was designed to mitigate.
1116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 26, 2022, 11:36:44 AM
I think the media are getting a little carried away with the their win against Liverpool. They came up against a Liverpool side that hasn't won a game in the league yet, I know it's only the start, but we've come against what people would expect the lower placed teams, and have struggled.

So, yeah I'm not getting carried away. Liverpool are missing 9 players through injury. Southampton aren't. Therefore their team will be more organised, and used to playing with one another. I wouldn't be surprised if Man United revert back to their previous form after this. Plus, you can't underestimate the new manager effect, and how that effects a derby.

Plus, Liverpool being in some of the worst form we've seen them in the last couple of seasons, yet still nearly scoring two or three goals has to be something to consider.
1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 26, 2022, 11:31:46 AM
And only after Wilder's draw with Fury that Wilder suddenly admitted that he refused an AJ fight. There are a lot of reliable sources to prove this. The excuse is too shallow IMO. Maybe the truth is Wilder's ego cannot risk losing to AJ? Or maybe Wilder is one of those guys that worshipped Haymon? I always thought that PBC is like a cult. So many fighters sacrificed millions of dollars just to continue staying with Haymon's PBC like Quillin, Jermall, and Wilder.
I think the truth behind it is both sides rejected the contracts, despite sending counter offers. I mean, the money was probably with Fury at the time, and Wilder ended up getting three fights out of it so I don't think we can blame his decision making. Plus, he may have thought beating Fury before Joshua would setup his fight with Joshua that little bit more.

Remember, outside of the US Wilder wasn't considered the best. He hadn't really been tested, just looking at his record will show you he either crushed cans or fought boxers that were on their way out of the sport. He even struggled against some of the older fighters, until he knocked them out. So, we knew his boxing wasn't all that great, he just had dynamite in his hands.
1118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: August 26, 2022, 11:27:43 AM
In case someone will start "Fury is to big and Usyk is to small, and he is a cruiserweight" - Usyk has same height and weight as Muhammad Ali  Smiley Usyk is even a bit heavier than Mike Tyson. I hope that will stop all talks about Usyk being not real heavyweight. Real huge heavyweight boxer is Nikolai Valuev.

The great example of future Fury vs Usyk fight will be Ali vs Foreman fight. I might even say that it could be a copy of that old fight, but on higher speed.
That might be true, but Fury is massive. Not the typical heavyweight which is something that should be highlighted. Fury is not only a absolute massive guy, he's fast, and quite agile for someone his size. Honestly, he's quite agile for heavyweight let alone his size.

Fury has the physical advantage, and that shouldn't be underestimated, especially since like I mentioned before, Fury really does use that to his advantage in his fights. He likes to lean on his opponents, and Usyk hasn't really had that whilst he's been in the heavyweight division. I'm not even sure why Joshua didn't do it.
1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 26, 2022, 11:24:58 AM
Right on the money. This is a prop up fight for Chimaev and hed have to do something really stupid to shit the bed on this one. And the UFC really wants to get rid of some of the old guard like Diaz because there 's really not much they can do with them. They are not competitive anymore (save for few outliers) and imho, they aren't even fan favorites anymore, people have moved on.
Dare I say it, but people have moved on from Diaz. UFC has a bit of a different culture about it now, just look at the Ultimate fighter, and how that has evolved over time. The whole vibe is different, you go back to watch season one or the earlier seasons, and you can see how rough around the edges it is.

This does nothing for me though for Chimaev. If he wins, it's as expected. If he does a flying knee in the first 10 seconds, and knocks Diaz out, I'm still not going to think any more of him. He's expected to absolutely dominate that fight, and the risk is if he doesn't it looks even worse.
1120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 26, 2022, 01:07:04 AM
I'd like to see it but I think Wilder wins it fairly easy. He hits too hard. If he can knock down Fury 3-4 times or however many it was I think he can do the same to AJ. AJ probably won't fight Wilder anytime soon and will fight some easier opponents just to try get his mojo back.
The thing for me is Fury can take a punch, and basically never looks rocked when he does get knocked down. He demonstrated this even against Wilder, except for maybe two of the knock downs. It's the first time I've genuinely seen Fury a little bit shaken up after receiving a punch, which is insane to think of considering the division he fights in.

However, on the other hand I've seen Joshua get rocked far too many times, even from somewhat minor shots. Plus, his recovery seems to be awful even without comparing it to Fury. So, I'd agree. I think Joshua takes one on the chin, and folds like a cheap garden chair.

I like Joshua somewhat, I just don't like how he has become the golden boy, and basically the iconic British fighter, despite Fury in my opinion being streets ahead of him in terms of fighting ability, but also personality.
