141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 24, 2023, 09:58:07 PM
You can't invest the money that you can't afford to lose. No matter how the market looks promising to invest, as long as what you have is you're not comfortable to lose it, then just forget investing at the moment but prioritize studying first over investing. Because if you stick on thinking the opportunities you missed in the market, you will never move on with that. Just think of this, everything has it's perfect timing. And investing at the moment is not perfect for you not because you're less capable but because you don't have what it takes to lose your money and yet you're still okay with it. But eventually in the future, when you obtain your own job and you're free to do anything with your own money, then you are very free to invest as long as you don't blame others if ever you lose on your investment.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - December 26 on: October 24, 2023, 07:15:33 AM
So currently Marlon Tapales is training hard in the US. He is sparring with former champion Mark Magsayo. Maybe it is beneficial to test his strength and toughness since Magsayo is big and is a hard puncher. But other than that, Magsayo is not the ideal sparring partner for Tapales. Tapales needs to spar someone who is like or can replicate Inoue who is small but quick, explosive, and has a high IQ.

Yes, maybe Tapales camp wanted to see how he can take big punches from Mark Magsayo and feel everything. So this training is more of the punch resistance, and they are going to see how Tapales will react if hit my Magsayo to replicate somewhat of the power of Inoue. If Tapales can't take it, then he will have a problem as boxers can't train how to have a solid chin. Although there could be exercise like strengthening their neck.

Tapales might relocate his next stage of training to Baguio, Philippines. It is a high-altitude location and has nearly the same weather as Japan so it should be good. Former world title challenger Vincent Astrolabio and undefeated prospect Carl Jammes Martin already said they are willing to help Tapales through sparring.

No one can really replicate the style of Inoue. But if Astrolabio or even Martin can at least emulate then it's good for Tapales. At least though every one is willing to help Tapales and train very hard against Inoue because they know it's going to be very though for him. So every help is appreciate. And it's typical of Filipino culture though, the are going to help whatever way they can to boost Tapales chance.

The bottom line here is, Tapales keeps saying he'll be Inoue's nightmare. Well, he's got to prove it, right? That's why he's training his heart out because it's now or never. I mean, this is the biggest fight of his life, and he should leave no stone unturned in preparing for it.

This isn't just any regular unification fight because he's the underdog, and Inoue is this super popular boxer. If Tapales manages to pull it off, that's going to get him worldwide attention, and of course, the Philippines will benefit from that if it happens as it's another "Proud Filipino here" moments.
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thurman Vs Stanionis WBA world welterweight December 9 on: October 24, 2023, 06:42:58 AM
Even tho Thurman did not compete for a while i think he is still the favourite going into it. His record is pretty good and his last performance (tho long time ago beginning of 2022) was good. I would not could Stanionis out tho, and i think he might actually be my pick for this fight. He is young and active with a good record aswell.

Both of them didn't compete for a while. They're both inactive for almost the same period. Thurman's 1 year and 8 month's inactivity isn't much different from Stanionis' 1 year and 6 months.

Before the Barrios fight, Thurman was also inactive for over two years. He wasn't just inactive, he was practically retired. I still have questions about whether he is still committed to the sport or just looking for a payday.

I believe it was his injury that really troubled him, but I won't dwell too much on his period of inactivity. He bounced back with a big win. He's still on the winning side after the defeat against Pacman, and he's making a strong comeback in a major fight of his career. So, he's here to stay. Let's not overanalyze it, Thurman is still a very legitimate fighter.

The main event is going to be action-packed and so are the supporting events two former champions battling it out in the middleweight division

Danny Garcia 37-3-0 against Erislandy Lara 29-3-3

This is a hard fight to predict. Lara has only fought tomato cans in recent years and is only considered a world champion because Golovkin vacated his title and as a secondary champion he got elevated. Danny Garcia has never fought at middleweight and he struggled against a diminished Jose Benavidez Jr. in his last fight. I'm starting to lean towards it being a draw.

Why go for a draw if you don't believe in Garcia's chances to win? It's better to pick a side, at least then you'll either end up winning or losing your bet.
144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thurman Vs Stanionis WBA world welterweight December 9 on: October 23, 2023, 02:30:24 AM
I'm not sure if the odds would be that low. I'm expecting the odds to be between 1.40 to 1.50. That's fair to me. We will wait for the experts to release their odds.

Thurman odds against Barrios is 1.53 (https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/keith-thurman-vs-mario-barrios-fight-prediction-odds-undercard-start-time-preview-how-to-watch/)

Man, that was up against a fighter I think is better than Stanionis. So, it's kinda hard to expect Thurman's odds at 1.50 or even 1.40 against some unknown boxer. Maybe 1.30 makes more sense, but honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if they go even lower than that.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prepare for a Bitcoin bull run? on: October 23, 2023, 01:38:35 AM
It's hard to keep up with when the plane takes off. I experienced that before. And for sure, the people who are negative about crypto or Bitcoin will buy it when the bull run comes. Many people will buy it, but the price is expensive for sure. If you don't want to follow and imitate them, it's better to do it now while there is still a chance.

I totally get where you're coming from, man. I've been there, too, and I'm not planning to repeat the same mistakes. We're more mature now, and this bull run seems like it's just around the corner. They say bull runs usually follow the halving, but what if this time it's different? What if it arrives earlier? So, I think we shouldn't waste any time here. It's like squandering an opportunity. Let's keep accumulating because that's the only way to prepare for this impending bull run.

147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Experience is key, go for it. on: October 20, 2023, 07:03:09 PM
No matter the amount of information you receive on this forum, if you don't practice and work on having a first-hand experience, you won't understand much.

Experience is key in everything we do and it plays a huge role in determining how successful we will become in that field.

Experienced traders know when to buy when to sell, and when to hodl. They also know how to manage any fluctuation in the market, This helps them to minimize losses and guides them to take reasonable risk.

As you choose either to trade, mine, or do what works best for you, don't forget to learn the fundamentals and apply them correctly. also learn how to start small and gradually, you learn on the job and with time your experience level should have grown and you can now start making a reasonably calculated risk.
They say knowledge is power, but for someone to be knowledgeable, you should be an experienced and skillful as well.  This is why getting first hand experience is always essential most especially in trading activities that needs more constant practice and application for you to become a reliable and successful trader.  While there are traders who only focus on fundamentals, but working on its technicalities is very crucial as well as no one gets to perfect trading without engaging in both fundamental and technical aspects.

However, know that in everything we do experience would always be the best teacher. One can never truly learn without putting practical application on it most especially in trading market where uncertainty and volatility is very high.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: October 20, 2023, 02:28:23 PM
I want to pose a question that I believe is quite expensive for many of us here, and it's a dilemma most of us can relate to. We all know that gambling is a game where we put our luck to the test. However, there's a crucial moment in every gambler's journey. the moment when you hit that big win. Do you cash out and savor your victory, or do you continue playing in hopes of even bigger winnings?

I've often wondered how many of us can truly stop playing when we are ahead. It's a challenge because the allure of winning more can be irresistible. I've witnessed situations where a friend deposited money into a casino, faced losses, and just when he was on the brink of frustration, he struck a significant win. Did he stop playing? No, he left his winnings in the casino, only to lose it all again.
So, I ask you all, what would you do when you finally make that big win? Would you cash out immediately to enjoy your winnings, or would you keep playing in the hopes of an even more substantial prize? Shocked
Without a doubt when a person has been doing badly during their current session and suddenly their luck changes for the better it is very difficult for that person to stop, and instead they will keep gambling hoping for their luck to remain the same, but this hardly happens and they lose all those profits and maybe a little bit more, so as hard as it may be gamblers need to learn to be happy when they get a big win and stop gambling for some time, otherwise they will regret their decision and instead of enjoying their time gambling they will be mad about what happened, and in that case why gamble at all? Since in that case you are not getting any kind of entertainment out of the activity and you are just getting frustrated because of it.

You know, if only people get satisfied easily with their present winnings regardless if its big or small, then there won't be any further losses that we will incur that will only make us depressed and frustrated. That's how simple life should be, but I don't think gamblers will stick to that. Let's admit the fact that we all want to gamble and make more money, so if we are given chances to be lucky and make consistent wins, then most likely we will continue seizing the luck until we realized that it's gone anymore and lose everything we've won.

The book will obviously tell to cash out what you've won and leave the casino immediately, but if the urge to gamble more is still high, then we resort to continue to gambling instead. Maybe that's the reality about gamblers, we won't be encouraged to stop betting if we are still ahead of the house, and the only way that we will stop gambling is when all our money have returned to the casino house again and leave us with no choice but to leave the casino immediately.
149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: October 20, 2023, 01:26:30 PM
I have often wondered about the people who have lost a lot in gambling and who almost lose in every gambling activity they participate in. What is their reason or motivation to continue even after so many losses?

The reason to continue is just very clear, “To recover the losses”, after losing a game or bet, gamblers will always think that the next game will be in the money, Literally, nobody wants to lose when it comes to gambling, and this is where that gets them going and has been the general mindset of every gambler and their reason to continue betting after countless loses. The very day that a gambler understands this, is likely the time they will tend to take a break or stop.

The losses that we incurred from gambling are definitely the reason that fuel us to gamble more, why? Because it's obvious that we don't want to stay losing all the time. We often bet more despite of countless losses because of the belief that it will be a big win this time. The more you gamble, the higher the urge and excitement to win.  But in reality, the more you gamble, the bigger the amount you spend and lose. However, I don't think gamblers care to accept this fact because what is in our mindset is that we gamble to win and make more money, not to lose and end up pocket empty.

Unfortunately, addicted gamblers only realized the true essence of gambling when they lost everything. That's when they start to understand that when you gamble, know when to stop and when to bet more. But when you keep losing from all your bets, that's a sign that you should stop gambling that day.
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 20, 2023, 08:29:52 AM
This is also the moment when I'd say that betting on Ginebra is no longer a sure thing. Without Brownlee, there's no guaranteed win.

I don't think Ginebra will be the real deal this season. It could either be SMB or TNT, and most likely SMB because June Mar Fajardo is an import-like player, and he tends to dominate. In fact, I've been constantly searching online for news about who might replace Brownlee as an import, but so far, there haven't been any updates or even rumors.

Yeah for sure we can see a SMB vs TNT as these teams are good enough for SMB if they can get a good import then that's an additional for them cause we all know that they have junemar and the rest of the team are strongly good  like laseter,  Perez and more players, while on TNT they have a good players as well and once they got a good import then they can compete against SMB's lineup.
so all we need todo right now is to see how thier system works.

TNT could be facing some issues in the upcoming season as one of their best players, Mikey Williams, has not returned to the Philippines yet.

PBA: Mikey Williams still absent from TNT with new season coming up

Quote
MANILA, Philippines–The absence of Mikey Williams in the preparation for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) continues to puzzle TNT’s top official.

“Ayaw pa niyang umuwi e, so what can we do,” PBA chairman and TNT’s board representative Ricky Vargas said in Tuesday’s press conference at Diamond Hotel.

Williams remains in the United States with the season about three weeks away from the Commissioner’s Cup tip-off while the Tropang Giga are busy building up for the campaign.

Also, there's another problem as Pogoy has been reported in the past to have a rare heart condition. Most likely, he'll also miss the season. This situation gives SMB a significant advantage, so I'm leaning towards betting on them to win.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To protect consumers, Australia has introduced new regulations for cryptocurrenc on: October 19, 2023, 09:18:38 PM
The good side is that more governments are understanding cryptocurrencies and are focusing on the big platforms instead of trying to ban Bitcoin.
The good side is that users will get better exchanges and there is less possibility of being scammed.
The downside is that you have to provide more data, and this may reduce the privacy of many customers, in addition to accepting Bitcoin may mean imposing taxes on it.

In general, let us read these new regulations and decide whether they are good or bad, but in general, they are good because many people consider Bitcoin an investment.
Well, regulating cryptocurrency exchanges is obviously better than simply banning the existence of crypto and its exchanges. And Australian government has been more open minded about crypto unlike other countries government that refuse to accept bitcoin and just turn it down without trying to understand that some of  their citizens are also in crypto investment. However, the fact that any government would want to centralized everything so that they can take control on everything that exists, then this is just like Australian government is wearing a mask just to look good on their people when all they want is not to legally adopt crypto, but to take control on their people's crypto assets so they can tax it depending on the amount they are hodling. Because in reality, government regulations are not just for the citizens to benefits, but its a vice versa wherein the government also benefits when their citizens are benefiting.
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do you Think is the Right Advice to Give to this Young Chap? on: October 19, 2023, 08:26:13 PM
Bitcoin can be considered a secured investment but it won't assure guaranteed profits due to it's highly volatile and unpredictable market. So one should never invest if he is still in doubt, and one should never invest by risking other asset just to invest in bitcoin. Instead, make yourself familiarize and understand well about bitcoin. Do not jump into making investment, but know the risks first that you need to overcome so you won't regret your decision  in the end. And as much as possible, never invest using other people's money or asset, but use your own hard-earned money that you can afford to lose whenever your investment does not work according to your plan.

Bitcoin investment is certainly more valuable than fiat investment. But it won't make you profitable unless if you don't know how to deal with its risk wisely. And being wise and smart means, know what you are investing and know when to invest and know when not to.
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney on: October 19, 2023, 07:20:07 AM
Here is the video of the initial press conference to promote the fight,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzY12CDWpT0

Skill vs skills, it's not power vs skill as per Regis, he said that he is training very hard so we will see what skills he is talking about here.

So there's a lot of heated words thrown against each other already and so this is going to be going to be a interesting fight.

Thanks for sharing the video. Hey @OP, we might miss this fight if we don't bookmark the schedule. I'd like to request you to add the date to the thread title. This way, it can serve as a reminder for all the fans not to miss it.

Now, about the fighters – I thought Prograis was more of a quiet guy, but it's cool to see that his ego is getting a little boost because he sees Haney as a big threat. The fact that he's already being considered for Fighter of the Year might inspire Prograis to train even harder to beat Haney and get into that conversation. Let's be real, Haney is a beast in the ring, but this new weight class and the possibility of some trash talk from Haney is likely to fuel some heated exchanges, making the fight even more interesting.

Anyone here rooting for Prograis to win? or none?.....

Thanks for the heads up mate. I already included the date in the title.

Finally, they faced each other in the conference. I am also curious about what Prograis means that he is going to outbox Haney. Or it could be that Prograis is just trying to mislead Haney. The skills are obviously on Haney's side so Prograis has to focus on his strength which is power. But Prograis needs to work on his strength because he cannot allow Haney to just hug him and then hit him.

It's funny how a lot of the loudest mouths in boxing aren't the KO artists. Guys like Haney, Mayweather Jr., Jermell Charlo, etc. And you can seldom hear KO artists like Beterbiev and Prograis initiate the trash-talking.

I already voted for Haney by decision but personally, I want Prograis to win. So I support Prograis because he is the more exciting fighter by delivering knockouts in most of his fights.

You've nailed it. They are likely acting with a loud mouth because they want to attract fans. It worked for Mayweather, so they follow the same strategy. They aren't KO artists; people might only feel sleepy watching their fights, so they perform actions before the fight which are their trash talks to their opponents. It's also funny that, despite our criticism, we still can't resist watching them. Maybe some of us want to see them lose, but they remain undefeated until now. This way, they gain fans from both their haters and supporters.
154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 19, 2023, 06:37:59 AM
Steph Curry did it again! This is just preseason Steph, don't use the night-night on a winning shot, it's too early!!!  Grin
116-115. Final score, the Dubs won.

What a game in San Francisco! Sacramento Kings played really well and they even had the big advantage of up to 18 if I am not mistaken. And then 4th quarter came and the Warriors played defense. Steph says this is all just their preparation for what may happen in the regular season and they want to build chemistry too so they are trying to play it better.
Golden State Warriors have not lost any game in the preseason yet while the Kings have not won any so they badly want that W and Steph got in their way.

Anyway, there's no way they will shoot a deuce and take it to overtime, a waste of energy. Very good entertainment for a no-bearing game, loved it.

Man, this game felt just like a regular season showdown, didn't it? The star players were out there, logging heavy minutes like they always do. These two teams have a real rivalry, especially after that first-round playoff face-off in the West that went all the way to Game 7. If I remember correctly, the Warriors broke the Kings' hearts in that one.

I have to say, I was impressed with the Warriors' ball movement. CP3 was a huge boost for them, and I'm hoping he keeps it up when the regular season kicks off.

And can we talk about Curry? That guy is just insane beyond the arc. He was nailing shots from all over the place, even with some tight defense. Big win for the Warriors, no doubt.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is doubling your investment more probable than we think? on: October 18, 2023, 09:59:11 PM
With halving less than a year from now, the majority of us are speculating a major increase in price and possibly the start of another bull market after 4 years. Some are expecting to surpass the previous ATH of almost $70,000 and possibly reach $100,000. Although this scenario sounds great and all, I'm not quite confident that it'll happen in the upcoming year or so. The current economic condition in the world isn't too promising and, in my opinion, will set back investments in general, including bonds and the stock market. I hope I'm proven wrong, though.

However, I tend to have a more pessimistic and down-to-earth approach to this matter. Bitcoin's current price is ranging from $27,000 to $28,000 as we speak, while we will also occasionally see it as low as $25,000. With that being said, in my opinion, sometime after the halving, the scenario of Bitcoin surpassing $50,000 doesn't sound too impossible to me. Thus, if we suppose that someone purchases Bitcoin now, approximately within a year, he or she may be capable of doubling their initial investment.

I know that these are all pure assumptions, but instead of speculating massive ATH and 3x or 4x returns, which are way too common in the forum, why not expect something that is more probable to happen in the near future? And to be honest, doubling your investment is a great yield that cannot easily be found in other forms of investment.
Well, it's not bad actually if some highly optimistic people are expecting to make 3x or 4x returns from their investments. That is also their way of motivating theirselves to never stop from accumulating bitcoin while the price is still affordable. However, they just need to be more open-minded on what will be the future outcome of their investments as they don't hold the future price of bitcoin.

Regardless of how much you expect from your investment returns, that is of less importance. What is more crucial is that we never stop from taking advantage of bitcoin opportunities most especially that bitcoin halving is getting near. Do not be too obsessed with the future bitcoin price as no one gets an edge of that, but focus on your investment preparations while the market is still allowing us.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency is a Threat and BTC leads on: October 18, 2023, 08:28:55 PM
Most governments don't support Bitcoin since they don't want to lose the power to control the financial ecosystem. And the majority of the country's leaders don't actually understand Bitcoin. So they directly ban crypto. A government won't allow them to rule their financial system through Bitcoin since they can't control it due to decentralisation. They consider Bitcoin their fiat's enemy. But it won't prevent us from using Bitcoin. We don't need government help to accumulate and hold Bitcoin. It's called financial freedom, and it goes against government policy. The government never wants to give us financial freedom.
Bitcoin is invented so that we can gain financial freedom from the government, and now that it's already becoming a threat to the government issued fiat, then for obvious reason, the government is also doing its job to protect their fiat currency and the best action for it is to ban crypto in their own country, if putting restrictions to crypto users won't work.

It's clear that they are doing that not because they don't understand bitcoin, but because they have seen the high potentials of bitcoin that once if left uncontrolled, it will definitely ruin the reputation of fiat and worst is it will replace fiat from its position. But we all know the government has always the highest power over everything, that is the reason they will do everything in their power to restrict users from using bitcoin, and if it won't work, complete banning will be applied.

158  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Correlation between buying and selling of bitcoin: Is it a technical methodology on: October 17, 2023, 08:33:46 PM
For the time being I have joined bitcointalk and also the bitcoin market. I always hear that, when the market is buying there will be an increase in price of bitcoin and when it is selling there will be a decrease in the price.
My question is that, what makes the price go up as people are buying and the price goes down as people are selling because what I understand is that this action cannot increase or reduce the quantity of bitcoin available, so what action actually makes it to increase or reduce in price, is it the marketers, miners or who does that? Is there any technical reason behind that actually?
More clarification on this will be appreciated.
It's always the market's supply and demand that makes the price to increase or decrease its own market value, and probably the seasonal changes in the market as well. Of course, when people are rushing to buy bitcoin, its demand increases while the supply decreases, thus making the price to increase as well. But when these investors decide to sell their bitcoins, most likely the demand decreases while increasing its supply, hence making the price again to drop low and decrease its value.

However, seasonal changes may also affect the market value of bitcoin. When the market is bearish, it is assumed that majority of the crypto coins are in bargain price, and bitcoin is not an exception. But when the market turns bullish, bitcoin price also is expected to soar high again, but only few of the altcoins can follow its path, as most of them find hard time to increase their own value.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 16, 2023, 09:42:07 AM
That sounds ideal, but when we say 'newbie,' we're referring to those who aren't very knowledgeable about the market. So, it's unlikely that they can make themselves profitable by taking advantage of market volatility. There may be a few who manage to be profitable, but I suggest that for newcomers, they should keep things simple, and that is to buy and hold.
Yeah  the best way for newbies to survive is through buy and hold but however the idea of getting the basic knowledge about Bitcoin will be very wise because investing on something you don't have any knowledge about is just like holding by based on speculation heard from people about Bitcoin but with the basic knowledge will serve you as a roadmap for Bitcoin by giving you the faith that in the near future Bitcoin will unveil it main potential.

I agree with you that newbies should keep things simple and avoid thinking about trading instead the main focus should be for accumulating and holding.
Knowledge in Bitcoin is easy to acquire, but when it comes to trading, it not only requires knowledge but also experience. With experience, you can prove whether you are a profitable trader or not. It can be challenging for some, as success is not achieved overnight. They might become frustrated if they aren't entirely focused on trading, especially if they have a job or a business to prioritize over trading.

However, with accumulating and holding, it's relatively straightforward. You just need to trust Bitcoin to generate profit for you in the long run, and then you're good to go.
160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 16, 2023, 06:44:29 AM
I wonder how his endorsement deal with Stake works. Their brand is all over his Instagram, where he has over 143 million followers. Every time he posts a bet slip it gets noticed by major publications. The reason why Drake's Curse is even a thing is because of the enormous publicity he receives. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume he is making as much money as some of the highest paid athletes in the world. Betting a few hundred thousand is probably nothing to him. What he earns from the endorsement is more than enough to cover his losses.

He is very popular and wealthy, which makes it easy for him to attract people with his updates. If he were to promote a gambling site, which I believe he is, people might follow him in gambling on the same site. I'm not sure if the amount he lost is real or if he's just trying to promote a gambling site in that way. But as long as it's less than a million, I think it's quite reasonable, given his millions in net worth. I think he bets on various sports because I know he also wagers on NBA games, not only betting but also attending games courtside during playoffs.
