621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can do better job opportunities if empower by government on: March 25, 2023, 09:54:34 PM
It is unrealistic to expect that governments or centralized financial organizations will readily accept Bitcoin. Even if they do, they are unlikely to fully embrace it and may even resist the crypto industry. While a handful of countries, such as El Salvador, have adopted cryptocurrencies, a closer examination reveals that they have not necessarily benefited greatly, particularly if the government decides to invest in Bitcoin. Therefore, other governments are likely to scrutinize the potential impact of adopting Bitcoin before making any decisions. It is important to note that significant changes will not occur overnight, and it will take a considerable amount of time for governments and centralized financial organizations to fully embrace and adapt to Bitcoin.
While some governments have already realized the value of bitcoin and how it can be beneficial to one’s country, majority are still hesitant to adopt bitcoin because they can’t fully control it unlike fiat that is fully centralized. And to think that bitcoin has been considered a threat to fiat and centralized banks, then it’s never gonna easy for the government to just adopt and embrace bitcoin as a currency. Maybe in the future it can be possible, but for now majority of the government are still closed-minded about bitcoin.
622  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can old trading strategies work again? on: March 24, 2023, 07:59:40 PM
Thinking about how trading strategies need to always be changed and how one strategy may not work for a long time, what do you do with the strategy that you are about to change. do you just forget about it completely once a new strategy starts working for you? or do you keep it in remembrance for the future. If you have experienced this before; has any old trading strategy that you decided to apply work for you? Is it possible that old strategies may work in the future again?
It’s always possible so instead of forgetting them, take some chance to update them, improve and enhance their effectivity before you start reapplying them. If they are still not working, that’s the time to develop new strategies that you think will suit to the market condition, and keep on retesting them in times the market condition varies.
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC needed for retirement in 10 years? on: March 24, 2023, 07:34:17 PM
Hey guys,

so I have been buying BTC (and admittedly ETH) since October/November 2020. I have been sticking to that strategy and
even put larger amounts when there was a steep decline in a short period of time, everything on my cold wallet, nothing left on exchanges.

With prices starting to slowly rise again (not sure if I really like that, always have the feeling to never have enough), what would you think
is enough to retire in 2032? I know that nobody can tell that with certainity, but would love to hear your estimates:

I think 10 BTC and 100 ETH would set you up for good, so once that is reached, I would stop accumulating, what is your plan?

If you can earn more than that, then why not? The bigger the amount of your hodlings, the brighter and safer the future. But that is if crypto will never crash in the future, otherwise your whole retirement life will never be all worth it. That’s the reason why we should not only focus on crypto as we can also learn to invest with our legal tender. Just imagine, if both investments will succeed and prosper, you will eventually make the best of your retirement and even manage to help others even at your old age.
624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Ugandan Pastor Closed Down Church for Winning Sports Bet. on: March 24, 2023, 07:00:06 PM
What do you have to say on this issue?
He was most likely also using their tithes and offerings to fund his gambling habits. Now that he has closed down the church, since he has won some money, he will be funding his habits with some of this money that he has won and soon go broke again if he does not make other solid investments from this winning. Some may argue that he will not gamble again, but I doubt that he will quit this habit since the mentality that he can win more will always be there.
That could be possible like he was also using them to provide for his family aside from gambling. If that’s his intention why he has built his church, then probably winning from gambling is a good sign that he will stop spreading the fake news since he’s not a real pastor after all. This is indeed a big sin using the church for his own desires, but it will be a lot bigger if he never win a huge amount and still continue to deceive the people. So maybe  winning from gambling may consider be a blessing in disguise for him.
625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Diversified accounts for children on: March 24, 2023, 06:30:03 PM
That's actually a good plan but don't forget to have yours as well because you're the one that's funding them. It means that you shouldn't forget about yourself while stacking up those sats on all of their accounts.

Create for yourself and that's why you're working and stacking for them, to have a good life and you're not exempted with that. You need to reward yourself and with that long period, you're not in a time deposit so don't forget too that you can sell anytime as you wish when the perfect time of making profits has come.
Have your wallet first and earn more sats before you consider earning for your children. Actually it’s a good plan to prepare them in the future and make them independent with their finances when they reach at a mature age. But not exposing them into bitcoin at an early age could not be helpful and does not justify your goals for them. Let them develop their interest with bitcoin by teaching them about its utility cases, so that they will know how valuable bitcoin is and that they should learn to start earning sats when they are matured enough.
626  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Taking loan for investment can be life threatening on: March 24, 2023, 05:43:46 PM
Your uncle has acted out of pity to help a friend and pity isn't enough to decide into crypto investment. I don't think there will be a solution suggestion for you because your have already invested it and if the friend is asked to resell, it may amount to losses. The best is to be optimistic that the investment is successful. He will need patient for the halving season to come and probably the friend can record some profit to return the loan but if the loan money wasn't paid back then your uncle can only lick his wound and learn from his decision and action.
Right, there’s nothing you can do anymore but to be optimistic that the investment will still be profitable in the end. If not, then your uncle should start learning from his own mistake and never do it again in the future. Now, if your uncle has lose everything, maybe if you have some spare money that you won’t be using, you can help him paying his loan. Yes, he was very wrong in his decision especially of not telling you, but as you’ve said he would surely be living in debt even in his old age.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Given an option between Bitcoin and Fiat which do you prefer? on: March 24, 2023, 11:03:26 AM
When you read deeper, maybe this is no longer a matter of choice. Because what you're looking for is safe, inheritable hedge storage. As we now know, third parties can be regulated in various forms or methods. For example storing the phrase seed in the SDB including fiat account wills at once. So I would choose both to balance ownership while maintaining fiat or Bitcoin value.
That’s a way lot safer. We can never guarantee that bitcoin will always be secure and stable, so we need fiat too so we can balance whatever wealth we opt to gain. For me, that’s more practical way of thinking than to stick with bitcoin because of its current high value. We don’t need to replace fiat for bitcoin, we need them both for  better security and stability of our ownership particularly in our finances.
628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you feel when....... on: March 23, 2023, 10:38:12 PM
Am the kind of being that chooses the kind of project to invest in carefully. I don't rush into anyhow projects because I was asked to do so.
If my friend invested in a project and I didn't, lucky them. I can't feel bad because of that. By the way, there are so many other altcoins someone can invest in and will peradventure do well in the bull run. No rush or regrets.
We all have different preferences when it comes to investments, and what’s best for others may seem unproductive for us. So if they made huge profits out from those coins I never trusted, well good for them. They might be lucky enough to invest and earn profits. But as for me, I never invest in coins that I think will never be valuable in the long run. Once I invest and take the risk, that means I have high hopes for that and I that I have faith in it to become productive and prosper in time.
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which cryptocurrency will lead the currency market in near 5 years? on: March 23, 2023, 08:37:02 PM
I think bitcoin will lead the currency market because it was created as a way for people to send money over the internet. There are many advantages of bitcoin like Direct Transfer, Greater Liquidity, Security and so on. Bitcoin's maximum supply is limited to 21 million coins. Cryptocurrency gains value when demand rises higher than supply. for that i think bitcoin will lead the currency market in near 5 years. Which currency you think will lead?
For now, I still see bitcoin to dominate the cryptocurrency market in the next 5 years as altcoins are still considered great followers of bitcoin. But I know for sure that there might be some new projects that will be more known and profitable within that 5 years of time frame, but the problem is how long they will be profitable and reliable in the market. Unlike bitcoin itself, even if it’s price increase is very slow for now, but we all know that it will always be reliable and more secured to give us future profits than losses. That’s why a lot of us still chose to invest in bitcoin, and still expecting that bitcoin will always lead the market 5-10 years from now.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez on: March 20, 2023, 08:14:39 PM
So yes, maybe we wanted Caleb to shut the mouth of David in this fight.

And mostly this attacks could backfire on David as Caleb might just be silent right now, but have been training and ready to go all out against Benavidez this weekend.

No, because David Benavidez is a way better fighter than Caleb. Caleb has already been exposed, and he cannot win against quality boxers, especially those who are heavy hitters. I think this fight will not even reach 12 rounds. David Benavidez would also look for an impressive win so that he can get a bigger fight next time.

I definitely agree with that statement mate. The thing is even if Caleb Plant will win this fight against David Benavidez, he will still find himself in the exact same spot where Canelo defeated him because I don't seriously think that he can make a difference this time. More over, I also don't believe that he overcome David Benavidez because they are on a different league.

The thing is, Caleb Plant chose to be silent from everything especially from David's trashtalking mouth and that is for a reason, because if he will talk back, he might get himself another embarrassment as he probably knew already that his chances against David is not that good.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 20, 2023, 07:59:02 PM

I think he has surpasses Caruso being as Laker in this game, as he scored team high 35 points and has been clutch in the 4th quarter.

Media also says that he save Antonio Davis' legacy. But let's see, still a lot of games remaining and they have to win it all so that they will have control, just saying.

That was a big win for them. I was watching the game, and I thought that the Lakers would choke in the end, but Reeves, my man, came up clutch and led the Lakers to a big win. I like his confidence now; he really grew with the Lakers, and thanks to the coach for giving him good playing time.

With that win, the Lakers have tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they are ranked number 10.

That was quite unexpected from Austin Reaves, I surely didn't see that coming because he's not on the list who have a chance to lead the team towards the W. I did underestimate this kid because all I see is that he's an important role player from the team but never going to be the big man to carry them but earlier this day, he proved me wrong. Now the Lakers is much more worth it to see in the upcoming games because even the undrafted kid is also stepping up his game just to increase their chances to participate the upcoming playoffs.
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 20, 2023, 07:30:55 PM
He didn't give Canelo any opportunities to change the direction as he just continue what he knows is best to prevent Canelo to box him out and pull the KO solid combinations.

And that's where Canelo's career became a huge embarrassment in-front of the Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol. The latter showed us who truly owns the division and what he is made of, moreover, he pulled an upset while proving that the peoples favorite as well as the bookies favorite is not a basis that he is an easy boxer in-front of Canelo. What Bivol did is almost unbelievable as it's the first time that Canelo looked like a human punching bag without almost no choice aside from receiving all those punches that Bivol is giving.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 20, 2023, 06:51:26 PM
No televised games today but there are a couple that I think are fairly decent matchups to bet on. The Lakers have their backs against the wall and should be giving it their all against the Magic. The Nuggets are also facing off against the Nets and I like that matchup for them. So if I were betting today I’d take the Lakers and Nuggets to win in a parlay.

Nice wins but as mentioned I didn’t have any money on the line.

I think the story of the night was Giannis getting himself a triple double while shooting 100% from the field. That’s not an easy task and an impressive outing. Especially since they got the win. Booker had a good night for the Suns also, but they couldn’t secure the W.

As a matter of fact, I did a bet on the Milwaukee Bucks during the live games but failed to ride with their win earlier because I wagered for a -7.5 in their favor and the score difference was only 7. In short, my bet failed because the Bucks didn't manage to cover the handicap that I did but fortunately, I did not go for a parlay today because I wasn't that sure of my other bets.

Bulls vs Sixers -7.5
Wolves vs Knicks -8
634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: March 19, 2023, 07:23:50 PM
1. Spence vacating his belt and move to 154 lbs and chase Charlo if he wins here
Regardless of who will win? I think that depends because those 3 belts are somehow important to his existence now and will not think twice again to use their influence. Aside from that, his next fight might be next year and will try to hold the belts as much as possible while also trying to test his luck in the upper division.

Quote
2. By chance Spence lost this fight and maybe go for a rematch
Hopefully if this scenario happens, Spence will be forced to risk his belt(s)

Quote
3. Spence losing but go back to 147 lbs to defend his belt
If by chance he will get defeated by Keith Thurman, then he will probably have the same outcome for the boxers at 147 who are also eyeing his belts as the names of Crawford, Ennis and Ortiz Jr. will not be giving him an easy journey as they are already fed by his nonsense for holding the belts for a long time.
635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 19, 2023, 06:59:24 PM

They didn't start strong, but ended the regular season strong. And you are right, they were able to carry the momentum, as they were so dominant in the playoffs, except against Memphis, which was their biggest challenge at that time. Morant was just injured, things could have been better if he wasn't.

If the GSW can manage to climb to the finals again, it would be easy for them to win it because of their experience if their opponent will not gonna know what they will gonna do about how fast the GSW can adapt to the atmosphere of an NBA finals game. I hope they will be against the Bucks because that's the only team that can give them real trouble and the only team that will gonna give them problems. The rest of the team in the East will be an easy pawn for them. if they can get pass at their first games in the western conference easily, that would be a total disaster for the rest teams in the west because GSW knows exactly what to do to win the series.

Whoa! Hold your horses right there mate, you're probably going too fast that you skipped some facts and ended up underestimating the other teams in the league. Don't forget that aside from the Bucks of the Eastern Conference, there are the Boston Celtics who are looking for a chance to bounce back from what happened last season as for me, that was a close game, it's just that the Celtics lack enough experience as that was their first appearance in the playoffs as a team and reached the conference finals, and then the Finals whom they faced the Warriors.

And then we have some teams in the West too, you will probably say that the Grizzlies will be an easy pawn for the Warriors but don't also forget that the Grizzlies improved compared last season, so therefore, it will be a tougher team this time and then there's the Clippers and the Phoenix Suns. For short, it's too early for that kind of discussion mate.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: March 18, 2023, 04:09:50 PM

Yes, ML is not that attractive considering that Shakur Stevenson is listed as heavy favorite by the bookies and certainly, you need to put a lot of funds for that moneyline before you can even consider the profits of your wager but putting a lot of funds into unattractive odds have a lot of risks entailed and surely nobody wanted that risks even if you're a bigtime gambler. I reckon that the Shakur win via KO/TKO might be much more profitable to bet since Shakur's ratio is just below 50 percent, let's just wait for another options in the weeks to come.

Shakur is a class fighter and we want to see him in big fights that will be considered a legacy fight after he hurdles this fight his handlers should secure a million-dollar legacy fights something like a Garcia - Davis fights or a Haney - Lomachenko.
this fight obviously lacks attention from the media because it's a cherry-picked fight its eclipsed by big fights but it's good that the fight will come early before big fights of the year.
All bookies will favor Shakur, it will shock the boxing world if he loses this fight.

That's just sad on their part because their bout has been scheduled on the same month where the big fights are also scheduled, furthermore, there's just less people who takes an interest on looking at this fight because aside from this is Shakur's debut at 135, he is also partnered with a name that isn't really famous to be viewed as an acid test to the former champion. Maybe the next fight will be favored for Shakur as it's speculated that he is about to face the winner of Haney-Loma fight.

Exactly, he won't get a lot of viewership on this one, but a win here will add another success to his career. Eventually, he'll meet a great challenger that fans will be excited to watch. It will be a fight that is hard to predict on who will win. Hopefully, he'll be up for a big challenge, as boxers who play it safe can be boring.

Well, that's just how life works because not everything will be favorable to a boxer's career.

Anyway, I'm just hopeful and rooting that Shakur's next fight will be a big and interesting one where he will get to be the challenger this time, just like what @stadus said, he is said to face the winner of Devin Haney versus Vasiliy Lomachenko fight. And that might happen somewhere before this year ends, but that is if there will be no mandatory title defense to the undisputed champion.
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 18, 2023, 03:35:13 PM
Nevertheless, what's funny about it is that their are already weight class, I mean a predetermined weight that this fighters are going to box. So it this is supposedly 135 lbs, they agree to 136 lbs, but then have rehydration clause? I think it defeat the purpose of having this weight category another when there is a cap.
Yeah, and that's why after reading the details I was kind of intrigued because honestly, this is really the first time I saw a clause like that. I guess we will just have to witness it before Ryan Garcia steps on the ring if there will be a weighing scale before he enters.  Grin
It's almost like a punishment for a big boxer trying to cut weight for the weigh-ins and then avoiding rehydration just so he can still be in the range where the opponent requested it before the fight.
Now I know why the Tank's camp is avoiding Garcia for a long time. They are pondering what clause they will add to avoid losing the belt.
I think Ryan will have a big problem here if the fight will be long considering that clause.

It's part of boxing culture already, because a boxer can rehydrate and be big in the fight night itself, gain like 10-15 lbs or over 20 lbs is possible for this guys. I heard from Calvin Ford, Davis trainer, that they want the fight in 135 lbs, and Ryan's camp wanted 136 lbs. So they gave in to their demands but there will be a rehydration clause of 10 lbs for Ryan. So both trying to make their weight very easy for them, as Ryan say's it's a go and he has no problem with that. So in this case two weigh-in, before and after the fight to make sure that what is stipulated in the contract will be followed by both camps. We haven't heard about the gloves and the size of the ring and other stipulation.

I suspect that Ryan Garcia's camp didn't anticipated that to happen where a rehydration clause will be put in place right after their demands are being met. I'm just curious though, why would they agree to have the latter choice if they could have the fight happen at 135 and without that rehydration clause as that is more favorable for Garcia's camp rather than getting another weigh-in at the day of the fight to see how much weight did he add and a little over 10 pounds is not acceptable.

we don't know their ulterior motives but maybe they are seeing some advantages for their boxer. we can't really tell what they are thinking on this matter, as they may have strategy how to go around inside the ring without feeling drained or of that sort. well, we will see if this will really help Garcia's upcoming fight. but a big deviation of weight after rehydration may give issues to his body while fighting. so better stay on his comfortable weight where his body is not being forced to.

Not maybe but it's certainly for their own boxer's advantage why Tank Davis's camp put a rehydration clause on the contract, and just like Ryan Garcia's camp, making the fight a catchweight bout at 136 is certainly for their boxer's own good and not to give advantage to the opposing side. By the looks of it, I give my thumbs up for Tank Davis's side because speaking of advantages, they certainly got the upper hand. Now, what's left is to let these two boxers dance inside the same ring.
638  Economy / Economics / Re: With the present economic outlook, do you think that this is good advise? on: March 17, 2023, 08:11:40 PM
I was having a chat with a senior mentor in the financial sector and I asked him what advise he had for recent graduates, he said despite the high rate of unemployment, they should avoid a small margin business and instead acquire a skill or learn a trade where there is a reasonable profit margin. Because the effort you put into a small margin profit business if paired with acquiring a skill will pay more in the future. With the present economic outlook, do you think that this is a good advise?
No doubt, it’s certainly a good one. The best result happens only when you have maximize your skills and apply it into your experience as it will create mastery and expertise on your skills. That way, your profit expectation will increase more and will gain greater chances for success whatever endeavor you wish to take. Most particularly in trading, as it’s the most profitable source of income these days.
639  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Being drunk while trading what was your experience on: March 17, 2023, 07:41:12 PM
You can still trade and be drunk at the same time. There's this type of drunk that knows what he's doing while someone who's drunk that he's already in other dimensions. So choose what type of drunk you're experiencing and if it's the latter part then don't spend and waste your money doing trades if it's too easy for you to throw money on an instant. But you know what's the best drunk and crypto stories that I've heard? It's about the legendary "I am HODLing" by gamekyuubi. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0)
No one can stop you from trading actually regardless of what your current condition is. As long as you can manage not to create mistakes, then that’s fine. But honestly, whenever I’m drunk, I never force myself to trade because I’m not in a stable condition to focus and be fully aware of my trades. Instead of profiting, that may only ruin my trades and end up losing them. That’s why as much as possible, I avoid trading whenever I’m drunk.
640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when people tells their story on bitcoin on: March 17, 2023, 07:03:50 PM
For long now I have been reading lots of interesting testimonies around the forum about their experience and achievement they made through bitcoin progress. Something very important came into me to know how do you feels whenever someone said of their investment and how it yielded and they made fortune out of it.

Do you feels your late getting involved to the industry and do you wishes to be like them, and if you were in their shoes would you be able to utilize those opportunity they got or you won't afford to bear the risk and get involved?

Lets discuss wisely and get the best from ourselves.
To be honest, when I was still new in this forum, I always wish to be like those who are already experiencing the verge of their success in bitcoin. But as I grow more in the forum, I have realized that we have to be the best of what we can be so we can be successful in everything that we do, and bitcoin is not an exception. So from then on, I just focus on working for myself and take advantage on every opportunity that comes that will pave way on my one’s success and just be happy whenever I heard different successful stories with bitcoin.
