1422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where are we? on: September 22, 2014, 08:08:29 AM
Dot.com was $7 trillion in the late 1990s and only 2% of the world population was using the internet.  2% of world population today is around 150 million people (back then it was less).

Not even early adopter stage - we're still in the innovator stage but it's true the ROI for Bitcoin has already peaked (if Bitcoin hits $1+ trillion then that's only a 100 or so return).   Buying BTC right now is like investing into Apple in the 1990s and ignoring startups like Amazon, Google, Yahoo.

Why ripple? Must be in on the american market

Ripple had some kind of agreement with Citibank.

of course I think this stuff is a complete joke - centralized digital currencies like Ripple will never gain mass acceptance.  Maybe Citibank can trade Ripple with other junk banks but they're already doing that with their $Fiat scrips and other papers.

1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - Brand NEW! on: September 22, 2014, 07:22:52 AM
You have to highlight it and use "Ctrl + C" on your keyboard.  That should be rectified somehow in the future, I'm sure the developers are working on it.

ok,fixed

are there annual interest?7,10,or 15% maybe

No interest.  NODE is a finite supply and you get rewarded with transaction fees for maintaining the network (like NXT).  Difference is NODE is not based on your stake but a set of variables (like Crypti and NEM but I'm not sure what NODE's variables are)

1426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP OWNED BY THE USERS | Gems public sale | on: September 22, 2014, 07:11:17 AM
That is a correct valuation for a mobile social app - they consider things like subscription fees and hypothetical revenue like advertising.

but GEMs is more than just a social messaging app, it's also an underlining 2.0 crypto currency.  Lower estimates of Bitcoin is that it has 500,000 users and yet it had a peak capitalization of $16-$18 billion this last December.  So if there is 10,000 to 100,000 people using GEMs then the capitalization would be in the hundreds of millions to low billions.

Of course saying these numbers is easier than attaining those numbers.  The main critical issue behind crypto currency and alternates is educating future users to use your coin / service / app.

so,..is this only brand new,not new concept?
annual interest???

Payment processing / integrated $Fiat and Bitcoin.  There's also NODEbank and NODEpay.  If the developers deliver on all their promises then NODE will be a generation ahead of Ripple / Stellar (and wouldn't have the premine baggage or the vulnerability of being centralized).

Worse case scenario - NODE corners the crypto market in Eastern Europe.  Best case scenario - NODE replaces BTC.   Both outcomes NODE, if the developers deliver on their promises, will be huge someday.    Smiley

If you read the white paper of NODE and other literature then you will recognize the potential in this project.    Smiley

To all the people who came from their favorite coin in this thread only to spread lies and FUD:

If you are so frightened about NODE, why donīt you sell a bunch of your favorite coins and buy a buch of NODE instead? If all features are implemented be happy with 100x your investment. (>30mio marketcap) Canīt you see the chances?

That investment strategy is more like day trading or trend investing and you only need to screw up once to lose everything or you accidentally sell off a future winner and later regret it.

You can't necessarily predict which coin will be huge in 3-5 years.  Better off diversifying and holding onto multiple coins (as long as they're not $hitcoins).

1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][GEMS]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP OWNED BY THE USERS | Gems public sale | on: September 22, 2014, 06:15:09 AM
Mobile app right now is in a valuation bubble due to Facebook recent purchase of whatsapp but it begs the question - who's going to pay for these insane valuations?  Only two names are ever brought up (Google and Microsoft) and they may simply not care about the chat messaging stuff.

How about no company is going to buy GEMS app or Nxtty app and they will be truely owned by many people (investors and users)? Wink It will be better if it stays this way. Big company purchasing those apps can only make the apps worse, not better.

Decentralized equity can be an advantage in that you're not reliant on Facebook / Microsoft / Google from buying you out and yet you can have progressive capitalization growth coming from investors and users.

One evident issue is your stuck with an education issue (much like Bitcoin) in how do you attract an user base in the tens or hundred of millions to build that big $billions capitalization?

I'm interested in buying both Nxtty and GEMs at some point but these mobile app threads have a lot of these random shills who think it'll be whatsapp capitalization within a year of launch..

Rumour is China has banned Bitcointalk.  Does this mean there could be less scams and/or less bad english?  How will the Chinese learn about alternates?
1432  Other / Archival / Re: An American soldier Schools Iraqi Military Cowards on: September 22, 2014, 05:46:44 AM
Did you know Iraqi army soldiers are making $1200 a month?  When the minimum wage in Iraq is $150 a month?  Especially given the cost of living in Iraq, Iraqi soldiers are likely living better than American privates who only make a few thousand more (but have to pay more for everyday goods and rent).

'Only thing different about Nxtty is that this includes a wallet system' -- includes a wallet system!!

Gotta get involved in that project -- oh wait. I already did.

Mark

I hope that's not ridicule.  As others have pointed out, Nxtty isn't innovating anything as there are already countless apps which do the samething.  Other than the bought Facebook accounts (most of those accounts have since been banned), who exactly is going to be using Nxtty?  Even the 500K-2M Bitcoin users are out of touch as practically most of them don't care about NXT or NXT ecosystem.

Don't worry I might end up buying some Nxtty, but it will be a week or two after launch when everyone dumps when they realize Nxtty isn't as popular as they thought it would be and/or it doesn't make them instant millionaires.

Very interesting link..

You think NODE could have a bigger volume on BTC38 than on BTer?  I noticed on BTC38 overview that volume seems to favor the better distributed and/or easier mined coins.

I'd assume the most volume for NODE will come from Bittrex.

Why would that be?  Only thing which stands out about Bittrex is they handle a lot of Euros

Well it's a PR disaster none the less.  America the Great and yet disabled veterans are left to fend for themselves due to some bureaucratic decision made by someone that you can live off $150 disability payment.

As I said, unless the private funds in China end up liking NODE (which would only be a temporary pump), price development is more likely to result from continued development and promotion.

Price started on bter about 130 satoshis.. some guys in the rush bought up to about 170 and now is stable around 100-120 satoshi. I dont see any epic crash. I just see epic trolls.

Considering from the highest ipo price trading started about 50% cheaper on bter. Some guys will have to wait a bit more to have some ROI. That should be soon as there is 3 more exchanges interested in adding NODE.

How does adding Node to more exchanges increase the price?  I know I've been on Bitcointalk for a long time but I don't see your reasoning.   Besides, BTer is often the #1 exchange in volume for most coins so I don't see how adding lesser volume exchanges will magically increase the price.

Really the only way the price of NODE will increase (long term) would be

- Promised features are delivered
- Promotion on social media and getting banks in Ukraine to adopt it.  BTC is already accepted on 5000 bank terminals in Ukraine.  You only need 1% of Ukrainians, Poles, Balts and Czechs to use NODE and it would probably be the #2 crypto (that userbase would actually rival BTC in size).

If Yandex and VK were able to smite Google / Facebook in Eastern Europe, NODE can easily do the same to BTC in Central & Eastern Europe.  Eastern Europeans tend to patronize their own tech companies, so it's a choice for the locals to use something like American BTC (Satoshi is speculated to be Californian and most of the Bitcoin personalities are overwhelmingly American) or one of their own developments.

Give it up with NXT already, I was there almost from the beginning.

NXT has stabilized and it's not really going anywhere else, it opened the gate for 2nd gen crypto but that's it.

There's better tech being developed out there now and without such horrible unbalanced distribution like NXT.

You FUD every other crypto as if NXT is the solution. I used to run a bunch of nodes and hold NXT.  I realized at some point that NXT wasn't the solution, just a stepping stone for 2nd gen cryptos to show up in the scene.

Can you recommend any better tech being developed now?

Mechanically there are better coins than NXT in development.  If we look at Jeff Garzik's comments - maybe there really is a backdoor in NXT (disclaimer: strong speculation).  Theoretically maybe pure PoS could be replaced as the main competitor to PoW by DPoS, PoSV, PoI or PoA.  This leaves NXT as a brain wallet with an optional wallet.dat and questionable code / questionable initial distribution in the long run.

Is NODE mechanically better than NXT?  NODE just came out so it's premature to make this conclusion.  BitsharesX is kind of a different beast altogether.  NEM isn't released yet.  Ethereum could very well be a vapor ware scam that never comes out or it won't come out for years.

What's the IPO price? Do you earn lots of profits?

Some got it for free and others paid up to 1.4 BTC or it may had been 1.3 BTC.  Interesting that the NODE membership used to list the auction prices but now this information mysteriously disappeared.

Right now a half million NODE is like 0.5 BTC or something, so there was an epic crash in price from final IPO.  If I was one of those people who bought at 1.4 BTC then I would be hating myself.

Do you think the price will go up again ?

Its hyped on a false premise that you can just create another Whatstheapp, Snapchat, FB which anyone with a brain and the time to search for chat apps in the apple and play store will tell you many try....very....very few succeed.

If it was easy to make a billion dollar app don't you think everyone would be making one...silly. Thats why other already successful companies buy them once the one in thousand actually make it.

Well you got the first two words right (Its Hyped)..I know I hyped and I am still Hyped about it

Can you imagine What Whatsapp would of been worth IF it had all the featured we have!..Yes i can say WE because i am a proud owner of lots of Nxtty and am very excited about our future

And to the poster asking about the price

At the current price of 0.0043 USD it is up from My first Buy of 0.0009 approx 320% in a little over ONE MONTH!!..

And IMO i don't even think we have left the Barn yet..this tractor has a lot of ground to plow yet
Our current mkt cap is under a million for cripes sake!

Upon release and depending how FAST the first 100,000 downloads happen,This could get really violent really fast, and that will be before most of the people that downloaded it figure out they have a wallet with money in it to spend, and are now Part Owners of it!..then again it could all go to hell in a hand basket..

And yes you are right about all the apps that fail..But name me ONE other that has all the features that we have?..

I will go on the record that IMO
the Tip feature and the Wallet are pure genius..as 99% of the people that will download nxtty
have NEVER heard of Crypto-Currency.You just need to sit back a few minutes and think very hard about that!.

People are Sick and Tired of being spied on in every part of their daily lives
People are Sick and Tired of the current leadership in almost every Country on Earth
People are Sick and Tired Of being robbed of their buying power because of the crooks in charge of our money supply (The Fed)

Nxtty is going to help the Worm Turn for Us.. Nxt and Nxtty Is our chance to take the power back to where it belongs! (With The People)

Onward!

Your typical Bullshit hype is the reason no one trusts altcoins anymore.

"Take the power back (with the people)" listen to yourself! It's a chatting app! And if it did get successful you would be very very rich, it's not exactly the egalitarian utopia you are suggesting is it....

If people truly believed in the power of cryptocurrency they would only use Bitcoin and refuse to use anything else and convert their entire fiat to Bitcoin. let's not kid ourselves we are trying to make money.

Bitcoin was just the starter coin..2nd gen coins are the future and
Do some research before you show your ignorance about nxtty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nopAntOXP90
Ill give you a day to bring the link to a app out there now that has the features nxtty has
app to app calling, a wallet with nxtty in it, and a tip button just for starters. And I don't bullchit
but i am very bullish on nxtty! also the nxtty conomy is coming...

A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties.
Harry S. Truman

Don't be ridiculous.  I just typed on Google app-to-app calling and got numerous returns (even whatsapp is getting in on it).  Only thing different about Nxtty is that this includes a wallet system but that's a small choir you are preaching to as Bitcoin only has like 500,000 to 2 million users and other coins have similar developments coming out this winter.
