1441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much would you pay per month to run a full node? on: February 14, 2016, 07:27:47 PM
I don't understand why would you pay someone else to run a full node and don't just run it yourself for free?

Well, you 'd need to keep your computer on 24/7 and have comfortable bandwidth, so there's definitely a cost to run a node. I'd probably consider it if I were a merchant, but the big problem would be to find a company whom I could trust.

I chose $7.5.
1442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'll try to pay my dentist with BTC on: February 12, 2016, 12:28:58 AM
So, any update on this topic ? Are your dentist accepted bitcoin and success  convince your dentist ? I'm curious about that, because i think it's rare to find dentist who accept bitcoin lol.

Not yet. I'll see my dentist 3 times on the last week of this month, so I'm still looking for arguments. I guess I'll try to split the payment. I'll say what I'll have to pay is above what my credit card can handle in a single transaction. So I'll pay maybe half with the card, than other half with a bank wire, which would take 2 days, or BTC which would take only minutes. But sincerely, I hope he has heard of BTC already. If I have to explain everything about it, that would just take too much time.
1443  Other / Off-topic / Re: How I quit my smartphone addiction and really started living on: February 12, 2016, 12:20:03 AM
I've bought my mobile phone €12.99 in Italy 3 years ago. It's a very nice phone, and it accepts 2 SIM cards. I don't think I'll ever get a smartphone. I have more control over my life without one, and I enjoy not living with apps with which I would have to share all my travel info, nor any personal information. I switch on the computer when I want to read/send emails, and if I don't want anything like that, I just keep it switched off.
1444  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Morocco to switch on first phase of world's largest solar plant on: February 12, 2016, 12:13:46 AM
This is the best thing Morocco has ever done. It's a huge opportunity, but it's just just so easy with lots of very sunny empty land. A few companies are also making plans for huge cables to sell that electricity to Europe. One huge project was Desertec, Algeria could do the same thing too, and I hope it will.
1445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump On Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2016, 12:10:24 AM
Guys, Donald Trump's net wealth is larger than the whole BTC's market cap. So I guess he just sees BTC as small beer. Real estate at his level is very big business. When you are where he is, you don't look much at what's below. I don't think bitcoiners shall fear Trump, he just doesn't care about us.
1446  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Woman may face jail time for refusing to do housework on: February 10, 2016, 11:55:22 PM
I can read some Italian. It says that the husband was coming home with food from the supermarket, expecting his wife to to make a dinner out of it, but the wife just put everything in the trashcan... That happened many, many times over 6 years, and I just don't understand why the guy kept on coming home... Anyway, the guy went to justice with the hope to solve his feeding problem, and that means he's a total *sshole. He 'd better start looking for a new wife. I'm sure the case will be dismissed.
1447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An excessive fee is an our future? on: February 10, 2016, 11:38:27 PM
What is an excessive fee?
0.002 BTC?
To send a large sum across the planet in less than one hour, I would say it's a good deal for the service.

I'm not worrying at all about this. I'd gladly pay fees a bit higher, and I would happily accept a minimum of 0.01 BTC to make a transaction. This to make BTC more scalable.

Besides regarding fees, I know they are not the main source of income for miners.
1448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'll try to pay my dentist with BTC on: February 10, 2016, 11:28:07 PM
At the end of the month, I'll fly to Budapest for some heavy dental work, and I'm planning to pay with BTC. Has anyone ever paid his/her dentist with BTC? The dentist I'll see mostly has foreign patients traveling to Hungary because it's much cheaper, so BTC would be convenient for many of them. Any argument I could use to convince my dentist?

Well, good luck with this.
I'm not sure about Hungary but I'm from neighboring country, Croatia, and here we don't have much bitcoin users, much less merchants willing to accept bitcoin as payment option and only one Bitcoin ATM i whole country Smiley
The issue of Bitcoin payment is a question of supply and demand.
If enough clients demand that they can use bitcoin for payment, merchants will, soon or later, accept it.
If no so much clients request payment with bitcoin, merchants don't have big reason to risk with something new.

Well, I remember reading about a BTC ATM in Budapest, and that was a very long time ago. So I don't know where the country stands by now, but I know they started early, so there's a chance I could be successful.

Besides, it's worth trying. If we want BTC to be successful, it is our duty to convince other people to use it.

Just a bit info about dentists. Belgrade is a bit more south ( around 300 km) and probably have twice chipeaper dentists, maybe even more depends from where. Usually people from EU come here with buses ( if u can believe) and all of them repair their theets here. In Serbia u can pay with euros, dollars..

Nice to know, thanks for info. I'll stick to my dentist in Budapest though, all appointments are already made. Besides Budapest is a cool place. I'm happy to travel there. I know they accept cash, cards, bank wires, Forints and Euros, so I'll just try to extend the payments option list to BTC.
1450  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Moroccan dies in suitcase while smuggled to Spain on: February 10, 2016, 12:51:45 AM
They are coming this way long ago, always inventing new places to hide. Solution is stopping war in their countries, but most of them are economy migrants with the goal -Europe

There's no war in Morocco. It's assuredly the safest place in North Africa. It sure remains quite far from the safety levels there are in Europe, but young people willing to work can have very nice lives in Morocco. With good weather most of the year.
1451  Other / Off-topic / Re: life without bitcoin on: February 10, 2016, 12:45:39 AM
Hey, come on, except for a few early miners, BTC hasn't changed anyone's life. It's only a currency. I've been living in many different countries, and changing currency hardly changes anything. A bigger change is going from cash to cards, and you can still experience it traveling between Norway and Africa, but that's still minor.
1452  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Syrian "refugee" attempts to rape 8-year old Danish girl on: February 10, 2016, 12:39:35 AM
He's obviously not a good follower of Muhammed. Muhammed would've waited until she was 9.

AIsha ftw mfs.

Although an extremely disrespectful and biased comment
Why? It's a pure truth as is, Mohammed's wife was 9 years old.

I've read the girl was really tall for her age, and looking older than she was. So the guy probably said he just made a mistake and this explains why he got such a small sentence. I suggest young German girls should wear T-shirts saying "Don't rape me, I'm only 8" to avoid any problems with migrants.

1454  Economy / Economics / Re: When A Super Rich Person Buys A Yacht Do More Africans Suffer? on: February 09, 2016, 12:07:13 AM
Strange question. I'll reply with another. Has anyone seen an African boat? I've seen some locally-built fishing boats in Algeria, and they didn't have anything in common with the yachts I've seen in Monte Carlo. And I don't think there's the slightest thing coming from Africa in a yacht.
1455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free State Project reaches the 20,000 person goal, dubbed Bitcoin Capital of USA on: February 08, 2016, 11:59:58 PM
This is a GREAT PROJECT. If I were American, I would seriously consider joining it. My biggest worry would be winter, though. I've been living in the South for so many years, it would really tough to go back to the cold. I wish something similar could be launched in Italy. The Italians are already well advanced, 95% of them already distrust their government.
1456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal's "New Money" Compaign - 2016 Super Bowl Commercial on: February 08, 2016, 12:14:21 PM
Paypal: high fees, single management team, large promotion budget.

BTC: low fees, no clear management, no promotion budget.

So Paypal can afford expensive advertisements while BTC can't. I'm afraid Paypal will keep on growing faster than BTC, even its system is vastly inferior and more expensive. Makes me sad.
1457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any BTC company going to Mobile World Congress? on: February 08, 2016, 12:09:43 PM
So Paypal will be there with its new money slogan, and I wonder who will be there to represent BTC. The world, and all free men need BTC, but BTC needs people to promote it against the giants like Apple Pay and Google. The BTC foundation was supposed to do those things.
1458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any BTC company going to Mobile World Congress? on: February 07, 2016, 11:30:50 PM
That one:

http://www.ledger.co/

I don't believe much in hardware wallets. It's funny to read on their website that their solution enables you to become your own bank. Hey, you don't need them to do that with BTC, but it's a start. Ideally, I would have dreamed the BTC foundation to be there, or maybe guys from blockchain.info.
1459  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraqi immigrant rapes 10yr old in Vienna, due to "accumulation of sexual energy" on: February 07, 2016, 03:21:08 PM
What I don't understand is that the guy was working as a taxi driver. So with an income, he should have been able to see a hooker, or pay a girl a drink, and well, finding a partner the normal way. I don't know how hard are Austrian jails, but I hope he'll face hard times.
1460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin being used for illegal activities on: February 07, 2016, 03:13:46 PM
I don't think BTC could ever match the US $ at that game. I remember reading once that 50% of all $20 bills have been used to take cocaine!

Besides, BTC's total market cap is only $6 billions. The money spent on drugs each single day is more than that.

In jails, people fight with kitchen forks, so just about anything can be used for illegal activities.
