That was a nice little dip down under $23k.

Too short-lived to jump on but good for someone who keeps coins on an exchange.

Hope someone caught it. Bob?

Every day of sideways movement is a victory for me.

Lets keep it going. Grin

Still accumulating? Cool.

Personally I'd like to see it go up. I might have to spend a few million satoshis to pay January's expenses.
1483  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price will Rise to $60,000 by December 2021 on: December 23, 2020, 08:39:05 PM
$ 30k, $ 60k, and $ 350k here are the predictions of future bitcoin predictions,
for $ 30k it could happen, don't worry, but to say $ 60k will be hit by the end of 2021 that's not a good thing,
this will make fomo, and me will feel sorry if someone buys bitcoin at a high price.

Don't worry about people who buy at the top.

All they have to do is wait a mere 4 years for the next halving.

Those who paid almost a dollar in 2010, $30 in 2011, $266 in early 2013, $1100 in late 2013 and $19666 in 2017, are all doing just fine now.

Those who pay $300k next year will be fine later in this decade.
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price will Rise to $60,000 by December 2021 on: December 23, 2020, 08:16:19 PM
$60k? That's ridiculously low.

It's might crash down to $60k after reaching $300k-$400k at the peak.

Look at what it did in 2010, 2011, twice in 2013 and again in 2017.

Increasing 20-fold in price and then crashing to about a sixth of that is a well-established pattern.

This rally has barely begun.

Quote
Aldi has a policy in Germany of not advertising, apart from a weekly newsletter of special prices called "Aldi informs" that is distributed in stores and by direct mail and often printed in local newspapers. It claims this is a cost saving that can be passed on to consumers. In Germany, Aldi has never used an external advertising agency.

Excellent.

Advertising is evil, except as a guide to which products to boycott... all advertised products except when absolutely necessary.

I'd rather my dollars go toward materials, workmanship, research and development... instead of propaganda.

Sideways? Barely one week.
___

Also, aren't we gonna save the 300 meme for when we hit $300k?

What we really want to wait for is Vegeta at $900k.

Son? More like Dad.

Chuck Norris was born in 1940... five years before any Boomer.

almost the same age as "Hide the Pain Harold" then.

EDIT: https://youtu.be/FScfGU7rQaM

Okay. Not son nor dad. More like older brother.

Hide the Pain Chuck.
1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Thank God, XRP Ripple going to crap on: December 23, 2020, 05:50:53 PM
I can't believe that some people lump together Bitcoin with scamcoins like Ripple just because they use a blockchain.

Yes, Bitcoin may have initiated blockchain technology but it's not the important thing. Decentralization, limited supply, peer-to-peer networking, proof of work, and total lack of any company or other organization are far more important.

Ripple is a fail on all counts.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still bouncing up and down trying to get a solid run over $24k... currently $23566USD/$30300CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

C'mon Bitcoin. Let's see $25k by Xmas.

So, why would anyone need or want a Ledger if almost anything it does can be done on any computer? Perceived security because it's a "hardware wallet" that's small and convenient? Small 10 inch or 13 inch laptops can do the same thing and more. (it's the "more" part that opens up a larger attack surface.)
Any old phone can do the same thing, take it offline (no sim, no wifi) and its a hardware wallet. Connect to PC with USB or turn on wifi to have hot wallet.

Why even bother with all that?

Just keep your keys in the medium of your choice... paper, steel, leather, whatever... encrypted , duplicated, and stashed in multiple locations.

No need for electronic contraptions.
1491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: December 23, 2020, 01:25:43 AM
LOL

A couple of days ago it was CAD that spoiled another jackpot.

Today CAD leads the pack.

Go figure.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

We've come up by over a grand in the last 6 hours... currently $23604USD/$30363CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

We're ready to resume the battle for $24k.

Go Bitcoin go.
1493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 21, 2020, 05:17:40 PM
Just generate your own addresses on a secure system.

I recommend adding a BIP38 password to your private key, this way you can print them on an insecure printer/save backups wherever you like without fear of someone finding your unprotected private keys. It's the "BIP38 Encrypt?" option on bitaddress.org

Obviously they are only as secure as your chosen password, so make it a strong one.

Good idea.
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 21, 2020, 04:45:33 PM
Which paper wallet is safe? I want to get them coins out from Ledger asap...

Just generate your own addresses on a secure system.

I use an old Win7 system with no internet capability... no wifi card, no LAN cable. I use a printer that has never been (and will never be) connected to an internet-capable computer.  Print spoolers can be hacked.

I downloaded my paper wallet generator (bitaddress.org) on my main rig in the form of an HTML file, scanned it for malware, and copied it to my safe machine using a USB flash key.

It runs in either Flash or Java (I forget which) and you manually randomize the starting point. I usually create several dozen at a time and print them 4 to a page on high-quality bond paper.

You can later scan, encrypt and copy some of them and store them in multiple off-site locations destroying the original paper, for extra-secure but less accessible long-term cold storage.

Hope that helps.
1495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 21, 2020, 03:59:17 PM
I have been affected by the Ledger leaks. I got contacted via mobile and email for phishing attacks. Did not Fall for it of course. But how safe are my coins on the ledger as long as I dont share any keys and stuff? I am also worried that some assholes will break into my parents home where I ordered the ledger to because these idiots from Ledger leaked my parents home adress...

Thank gawd for paper wallets and anonymity.

I made the mistake of buying a hardware wallet (Trezor) years ago. What a waste of money.

Gotta get my last coins off of it and safely onto paper.

Those dumps for ants that quickly bounce back up are so amusing...

Most observers would see high volatility.
I see a stable, upward trend.
Must be my eyes...

HoDL.

+1

To see some noobs on here (mostly not the WO but there are some throughout the forum) panicking about the current price is embarrassing. We’re gonna moon in 2021, no doubt. A $1,500 drop after going to $24,298 is really for ants.

If you can’t stand the heat, get the f**k outta the kitchen, bruh!

It's not even a real dip.

It's just Bitcoin echoing the stock market dip caused by the new covid news, just like last March only much smaller.

Observing.....December 21, 2020, 03:11:40 PM

Coinbase 23100
Bittrex 23019
Bitstamp 23055
Bitfinex 22982

Binance 22600

The only exchange that really matters is Bitstamp.

OMG. A massive crash all the way down to where we were 3 whole days ago... currently $22740USD/$29293CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Will we ever recover?

A hacker is dumping the Ledger database for free on forums.. emails, phone numbers, addresses etc.. Shocked

Expect huge spam and phishing waves for people owning a Ledger.

Click on this link if you think your data has been compromised.

Paper wallet users unaffected.
No worries now we will recover soon because now we are much stronger then before. Smiley

Oops, forgot to add /s.

Didn't mean to worry the noobs.

 Cool
