Oh look... another ATH... $26835 at Stamp.

Go Bitcoin go.

Edit: Barely type it and it's up another $100.
1482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: December 27, 2020, 12:58:21 AM
Rollin', rollin', rollin'.

Another day another jackpot

Top 10 in all currencies are 2020.

Every one beat the previous high by over a grand, JPY by over 10k.

Outstanding. Go Bitcoin go.
1483  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is bitcoin worth buying now at these prices? on: December 27, 2020, 12:00:05 AM
If you wanted to double, triple your money after investing, you will have to wait for many years to come...

...Investing this time is ultimately at high risk, TBH. But this never holds those people who believe that Bitcoin will grow more in the future. Ain't that you or even may (maybe) but many others around can do.

Not necessarily. In the year after a halving year, Bitcoin has always experienced extreme price increases.

In 2013 it increased 20-fold between January and early April, and then increased 20-fold again between mid-April and December. From January until December it increased 100-fold.

In 2011 it increased 25-fold between January and December.

Many years to triple your money? Nonsense.

Now is an excellent time to invest in Bitcoin.

If I buy Bitcoin today, I didn't think to doubled it easily but as a trader, I didn't wait that long to make money by having a few percentage gains (buy and sell), well, that be good enough.

That's the difference between an investor and a trader/gambler.

Investors are in it because they see the long-term value and wish to participate in a worthy project. Traders are just trying to make a quick buck (which they seldom do).
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is bitcoin worth buying now at these prices? on: December 26, 2020, 10:49:14 PM
We had this exact same conversation all the way back in 2011.  Those of us that got in early were scared to death to invest in more BTC when the coins were at $1000.00 during 2011..  Now I would sell everything I own to buy coins at $1K, obviously.  Too bad we didn't have a thread here started in 2011 titled  "2020 coins will be selling over $25K, AND large investment firms would be buying up coins in lieu of Gold".  The OP of that thread would have been dismissed as a "dreamer".  Same thing in 2017, and so on.

I think you're mixing up your years.

Bitcoin never went higher than $32 in 2011.

Out of curiosity, if you were having conversations about Bitcoin here in 2011, what was your original user name?

I noticed you didn't register until 2016.
1485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 10:06:37 PM
A 2013 style correction is a real possibility

You mean like April 2013 when it corrected from $266 down to $50 (just under twice the previous ATH) before going up to $1100 later in the year?

That makes sense. Maybe correct from $80k-$90k down to $35k-$40k before running up to $300k-$400k next autumn.
____

For now I'd be happy with going sideways for a few days before continuing up past $30k.
1486  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 08:11:24 PM
The flip side being that if nobody sells, the price can't go up anymore either !

But that's too imaginary. Do you really think that in a $479,028,551,331 market cap market literally nobody is going to sell?

Of course people will always sell some.  It's matter of how much and for what reason.

My main source of revenue is now Bitcoin. My main accumulation period was years ago. Sure, I'll still buy when I get the chance but I sell small amounts regularly to pay my living expenses... typically around 0.1 BTC per month lately.

I hodl enough coins that even selling every month, I have enough to live comfortably for the rest if my life and my net worth is still growing.

At times like this, it gets crazy. In four hours this morning I earned more than most people make in a couple of years of employment and I still don't consider myself rich. Selling a few grand each month is a drop in the bucket.

As I said, it's matter of how much and for what reason.
1487  Economy / Speculation / Re: All in the name of money making on: December 26, 2020, 05:48:25 PM
I think it's not just about Investing and making money.
For me cryptocurrency is about preserving people's privacy and reduce the government's power over individual.

Cryptocurrency is an opportunity for our society and investing in cryptocurrency by means of exchanges that require identification, I think ruins this opportunity.

Exactly. This is why Bitcoin stands alone apart from other "projects" like dollars, ethereum, euros, ripple, defi, etc.

People who buy Bitcoin to sell it for a fiat profit aren't investing in Bitcoin they're just gambling. They aren't investing their wealth in support of game-changing new technology. They're just trying to make a buck.

It seems that those who mined or bought Bitcoin because they believed in what it stood for are more likely to have made millions than those merely trying to get rich.
1488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Christmas 🌲 Bear 🐻 Already Started Munching! on: December 26, 2020, 05:21:58 PM
I don't think the bear market in the crypto space has started yet. In my opinion, the recent decline is normal. The decline in bitcoin price in each market is not that far away, so there is still a chance to continue rising to reach $ 30K in 2021 2020.

ftfy

imo There's a very good chance of reaching $300k in 2021.
1489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 26, 2020, 04:44:16 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland. Happy Boxing Day.

How pleasant.

Got home from a nice family Xmas dinner to see we broke $25k at Stamp while it was still Xmas day in my time zone.

Outstanding.

on finex there was a $2k drop all the way down to $22800.

LOL That's why we use Stamp and ignore Finex etc.

Stamp isn't polluted with leveraged margin trading. Just honest buying and selling.

Is Bitcoin dead?

1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wow, The Best Crypto Christmas 🌲 Ever! on: December 25, 2020, 02:43:57 PM
i was expecting the market to dip even more because of the holidays and people may like to sell some of their bags to celebrate the festive period but it seems the reverse is the case here, see btc is pumping high as i make my post, over 24k at the moment and by January 2021 who knows what price we will be looking at.

This year the rally is based on institutional long-term investment, not retail trading/gambling.

Institutional investors don't sell... especially not to "celebrate the festive period".

Merry Xmas. Happy ATH.

Merry Xmas Bitcoinland.

A nice little Xmas ATH I see... currently $24420USD/$31430CAD (Bitcoinaverage) with an ATH of $24662 (Stamp).

Still lots of time to reach $25k on the 25th.

Go Bitcoin go. Ho ho ho.

Happy xmas.

Barely over an hour until Xmas.

Just had a nice street corner Xmas eve with the hardcore of our neighborhood. Our local Tibetan bar stayed open for take-out despite the heavy-duty Covid lockdown. The beers flowed, the rounds of shots were many, tributes were offered to our departed comrades, and community togetherness prevailed. We shivered in the cold but warmed ourselves with the Xmas spirit. We wore masks, and socially distanced. Cops drove by, smiled and nodded.

Xmas day is for family but Xmas Eve is for partying with friends.

We got home, had a dinner of leftovers, and then started brining our fresh turkey and put on the stockpot for tomorrow's dinner. Still have to make the fresh cranberry sauce from scratch and garnish it with Cointreau.

Still time to wrap the various bottles of single malt for my brother and his kids and stuff candy into the handmade Xmas pinatas for the grandnephews.. one Santa Claus and one snowman.

Christmas isn't about buying a bunch of shitty overpriced advertised consumer gifts. It's about friends, family, food, song and community.

We don't need no stinking churches. No job, wage, debt, or consumerism slavery. Xmas is a special time. All we need is each other.

Thank you Bitcoin. Merry Xmas all.

Good morning Bitcoinland and happy Xmas Eve. Only one more day to try to reach $25k by Xmas.

Instead we're spinning our wheels in the $23xxx range barely poking at $24k... currently $23276USD/$29867CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

At least they're calling for a white Xmas tomorrow here in Toronto. Maybe we'll get lucky with a nice $2k green candle as a Xmas present.

Go Bitcoin go.
