I thought 45 days period was longer than necessary. Now it stretched to 180 days?

So let me understand this:
I can buy whatever I want, use it for 5 months and can return it to get my money back?

Right...  now it makes sense to buy through PayPal, but NOT SELL.

Aren't USB devices much better than discs?

Discs tend to scratch often and lose data. While you can store data on USB drives for much longer and you can keep transferring data to newer USB devices every 10 years or so.
1505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: BitSwift is a SCAM on: October 29, 2014, 07:42:01 AM
The High Yield Coin [HYC] also looked suspicious to me, with same graphics as SWIFT.
I raised suspicion and some user called 'placebo' defended SWIFT and HYC. He said people wouldn't care if its a scam as long as they can sell at higher prices after ICO.

He then removed all his posts from that thread, but thankfully I had quoted him.

1507  Other / Off-topic / Apple Pay: Apple caught in feud between merchants, credit cards on: October 28, 2014, 05:19:14 AM
Bitcoin fans, rejoice!
Everybody who thought Apple Pay was a threat to Bitcoin, has a reason to cheer.

Apple finds itself in unfamiliar territory: caught in the middle of a long-simmering conflict between retailers and credit card companies as it angles for consumers' mobile payments dollars. Retailers and credit card companies are betting on two different payment systems, the more popular of which is Apple Pay.

EDIT: Forgot to add I have a bit of dried foods stored in a storage unit as well. Like oatmeal and milk powder and stuff...

1509  Other / Off-topic / Re: I am in a bit of a dilemma... on: October 27, 2014, 12:26:59 PM
I have about $2000 in the bank and about $1000 in cryptos. I am currently supported by my parents and will probably have close to $3,000 by Jan 2015 but next year, I will need to support myself completely. I can find cheap accommodation for $100 a week which equals about $5000 for 1 year. Then I will need more money for food and electricity and Internet.

What should I do?

You haven't specified your education level and skill set. But since you have $1000 invested in crypto, I assume you have decent computer skills. You should probably get a job - full or part time.

And BTW, should have chosen a better username. This one isn't helping.

1511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACT] End of month dumping.. on: October 27, 2014, 10:13:14 AM
Frankly, I never looked at it this way. Interesting..  people cashing out at month's end and paying their bills.

So if I wanted to buy some BTC, the month end would be the right time!
1512  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining with old outdated equipment? on: October 26, 2014, 06:03:38 PM
I once tried solo mining for a whole month and get nothing.. Regretted cause my electricity bills is here.

If you're planning to solo-mine Bitcoin, you should do only with USB miners since they use electricity next to nothing.

Using a power-hungry doesn't improve your chances of finding a block drastically anyway.
1513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: who lost all their btc from mintpal? on: October 20, 2014, 11:19:22 AM
Lets just wait few more days before deciding that all BTC is lost... they might have some technical error.

You don't seem to be following the news lately.

They have filed for bankruptcy.
1514  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: October 18, 2014, 06:24:49 PM
Hi All,

I have been following Bitcoin for over a year and was the first person ever to put my house for sale for bitcoin.

http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2013/03/alberta-man-accepting-bitcoins-in-exchange-for-home.html

Not sure if you followed my story from a year ago, but the house just sold on Friday, and will make the news tomorrow I suspect. When the house closed on Friday I got approximately 648 BTC for my house which is based on prices over the past 6 months when the deal was actively negotiated, legal fees, realtor fees, and a bunch of contract wording that I frankly don't understand. I am now all in! I really believe in bitcoin. It is the future of the world. I look forward to the continued price increase and one day I plan to own my own island. I will truly be a bitcoin billionaire by the time I am 25 I believe. This house was inherited from my father who passed away a few years ago and he always believed in me and told me I would make it big one day and so I shall. Wish me luck Smiley

Tay More

BTW OP, if it is cool with you, can you disclose the financials on this one?
What was the market value of the house and how many BTC you sold it for?

I wouldn't push it though, I am just curious. This is a legendary case in the history of Bitcoin, just like the one with Pizzas.
1515  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: October 18, 2014, 06:22:21 PM
You're totally stupid and idiot ! I can not understand why you sold your house for bitcoin ! And now, where do you sleep? Under bridge?  Cheesy

First of all, let's accept the fact that you also believe in Bitcoin's potential, otherwise you wouldn't be here, posting on this forum.

Secondly, the investor OP was already aware of potential risks of his action, but probably he was more optimistic than you or me and whether he is wiser than you or me - time will only tell. So there's a possibility you or me turn out to be an idiot in future, not him.

Third, why would you think he only had one house to live in? Probably he is living on a villa that he also owned and you're posting messages from under the bridge?

I can understand there's a risk involed in Bitcoin investment, but the possibility of gain is also equal.

Disappointed to see that the senior slots filled up in one day. Will try to keep my eye out for additional slots that may open in the future. The status of my current sig campaign is uncertain, so I'm looking for a potential new one.

I have previously been a member of this:

This is malkhamb, one of the traditional Indian sport in which gymnasts perform feats and poses in concert with a vertical wooden pole or rope.
Very less known, but very interesting and difficult to perform.

1518  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello were i can find my bitcoin adress to put in the wallet ? on: October 17, 2014, 10:19:40 AM
I am not sure what you're asking but I'll try.
I think what you're trying to say is: You are mining Bitcoins on bitminter.com and you want to withdraw your earnings to your wallet.

See below screenshot. In your wallet when you go to 'Receive' tab, you will see at least one address (which I have scratched in my screenshot).

You should copy this address and put that into your bitminter.com settings page. I don't have a bitminter account, so I can't tell you where you should put it, but generally it is marked as 'Your Withdrawal Address'
1519  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any one heard about www.igot.com on: October 17, 2014, 05:43:09 AM
I had issues with them this week.  So after my 7 days were up I withdraw the 0.25btc  & got a email confirmation & happily waited for it to appear in my wallet.  In the mean time I BPAY them $1000 for a further purchase, the next morning I am still without my 0.25btc in my personal wallet but get confirmation my $1000 has been received so I bought $1000 of BTC & attempted to withdraw that.

I then opened a ticket asking where my withdrawals were, after about 6 hours I got a response that my deposit of $1000 was large (seriously  Huh ) & so raised alarms it was fraud related.  They told me I had to get a written note from my bank AND my ID attested by a justice of the peace & post it to them or schedule a video call with them with a whole heap of my ID.   I kicked up a fuss about this & eventually got them to approve me after emailing in further signed ID & BPAY receipts from my work email address ( I work for a Bank).

So I eventually got my BTC but I'm not if any further purchase with be trouble free & I cant really recommend them with all over the top security measures they have in place.

So one more dissatisfied client.

I can see they're making deposits very easy and withdrawals very difficult for everyone. And they haven't even showed up on this thread in long time to address customer issues, which tells me they care less about what we think of them.
