621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's say satoshi is cashing out 1million BTC on: April 19, 2015, 07:37:12 AM
Think about this:  Not only have Satoshi's coins not been sold or spent; Satoshi's coins haven't even moved.

Except for a 10BTC test transaction he spent to Hal in 2009, and maybe one or two coinbases that nobody noticed or tracked down to him, they are all still sitting there untouched in his mined coinbase txOuts. I have a list of over 5000 of his coinbase addresses, and they have not budged.  He hasn't consolidated coins in one wallet, he hasn't tumbled coins, he hasn't bought anything from overstock.com or anywhere else.

We're talking here about someone who could cause deep unrest, perhaps bordering on panic, just by generating a new address and sending 50BTC from one of his old addresses to it.  I can name dozens of places that would light up like Christmas trees if even one of his known addresses moved; hell, my own computer would light up like a Catharine wheel.  I'd have a text message within fifteen seconds of a transaction spending one of those addresses hitting the Bitcoin network, and that message hasn't been sent even once in the months since I set up the script.

But are you sure we know ALL of Satoshi's addresses?

If Satoshi was still mining in 2011 like any other 500+ people mining at that time, how would we know?

My personal picks:

[DOGED] DogeCoin Dark - Electrum wallet on the way
https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-DOGED

[BCN] ByteCoin - GUI wallet and tons of other features on the way
https://hitbtc.com/terminal/BCNBTC

[NEOS] NeosCoin - Dedicated dev, a wallet like no other coin, continuous progress and undervalued right now
https://www.bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-NEOS

Those are all junk.

You seriously need to re-look at NEOS.

624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's say satoshi is cashing out 1million BTC on: April 18, 2015, 03:57:57 PM
start a somewhat shady exchange like btc-e, and put your own coins on the orderbooks.

This would be the most plausible way to do it if he wants to sell his coins and protecting his identity at the same time.

Better yet, he would create a decentralized exchange. What better way to cash out his coins and providing something really cool to bitcoin community at the same time?

Edited because I quoted the wrong post initially
625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we assume that Satoshi cashing out his coins would be noticeable? on: April 18, 2015, 12:26:44 PM
First of all the following questions needs to be answered:

1. Is Satoshi a single person, or a group of individuals?
2. In case he is a single individual, is he alive now?
3. Has he kept all those coins which he had mined in 2009, or has he thrown them away?
4. In case he is in the possession of the coins which he mined, how many coins he is having right now?
5. Has he lost any of his coins in the millions of Bitcoin-related scams? (such as Mt Gox).

You should ask Chuck Norris  Grin

Now THAT is some theory:  Chuck Norris is Satoshi!!   Grin
626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we assume that Satoshi cashing out his coins would be noticeable? on: April 18, 2015, 12:09:12 PM
Quote is from another thread but I'd rather not derail that one so I'm starting a new thread:

If he cashing out his bitcoin, he may exposure himself, his identity will be revealed, which he didn't like it. So I think he may never cashing out his bitcoin.

Why is it always assumed that Satoshi choosing to dump his coins would be immediately noticeable?

Satoshi was the first to mine and sometimes the only one mining in the very early days but others like Hal Finney were mining too. After 2010, many other people jumped aboard and started mining with their own PCs. Satoshi was still around on the forums until late 2010 and didn't disappear completely until 2011. If he had continued mining until then (and possibly even after 2010-2011) then it would be impossible to know whether it's Satoshi who is dumping his coins or just another early adopter. Someone who constantly mined on a PC with reasonable specs from 2010 onwards would still have made enough BTC to call themselves filthy rich.

I'm not doubting that Satoshi's earliest mined coins that were worth billions at one stage were left untouched but couldn't it be possible that he still sold a couple million dollars worth of BTC and is living the high life today?
Either way, it's noticeable.

Every transaction sent to and from his addresses are traceable and wouldn't even be mixable.

Certainly, every transaction from his 'known' addresses will be traceable. But in that case we are assuming that we are aware of Satoshi's all addresses.

OP's point is: how do you know each and every of Satoshi's addresses?

If Satoshi continued to mine in 2010 and 2011 when there were several other early adopters mining bitcoin, how would you identify some specific addresses belonging to Satoshi out of those?
627  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how about removing ALL computers on: April 18, 2015, 08:11:53 AM
something bothered me,since ive started bitcoin

i think all the transactions are stored in computers, thats the core, right?if that's the core, what if we remove all the core's existence?does this mean all the bitcoins existed will be lost?

You will find that there's 1000's of computers / nodes out there operated by different people who will never remove their copy of the blockchain.

This is the beauty of the blockchain, it's massively distributed on a global scale.

It's not feasible to simply shut it down.

Not possible to shut down. One person can store whole blockchain on pendrive and noone will find it :>
you need to have the latest block to revive the network. it will be shut down unless someone has the latest block height when the whole network stop mining

Or you can implement the most recent copy of block chain, do a hard fork discarding all future transaction that are not available on network any more.
628  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 100 % Cryptsy Clone Open Source Release on: April 18, 2015, 08:10:18 AM
multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities.

this is not anywhere close to professional.

But it is open-source now, so these vulnerabilities will be easy to find and fix.

Waiting for your action on the PM I sent you a few days ago. I hope you can expedite it?
631  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where to sell Bitcoins on: April 17, 2015, 08:42:01 AM
Thanks for your help everyone!

You've all been very helpful and given me a lot of links to go through and have a look at.

Really do appreciate it  Smiley

But in the end, do let us know which exchange you ended up using, and how was your experience with them.
That would be very helpful for other people looking out for the same info, probably many who are from your country.

This thread's gonna go the distance.

Just like the Million-Dollar Pizza thread.
I hope that this time also the one to sell fiat for Bitcoins has the last laugh in near future.
634  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how about removing ALL computers on: April 17, 2015, 08:31:04 AM
Most of you guys are talking about catastrofic "end of the world" events, that might eleminate most of the other electronic infrastructure out there too..

It would take a mayor event to destroy all nodes and if that happens, we would not be worried about Bitcoin anymore.

These nodes are spread out all over earth and soon into space.. so the chance of destroying EVERY node is VERY small.  Wink

The few people who would survive in under ground bunkers, would not have anything to spend their Bitcoin on, so it would not matter to them, if they using bottle caps or chocolate bars to barter.  Grin

Yep, but this was a rather hypothetical question to understand the underlying technicalities of how Bitcoin and the node network works.
(Or at least that's what I think the OP was asking)

On a related note, a few days ago I read about a proposal to launch a series of satellites (yes, the kind that orbit the earth) that contain Bitcoin block chain and act as nodes!

Is the noob a millionaire yet?
If you were a millionaire would you come back to this forum?

I definitely would, because I will not have to do any work and I will have all the time in the world to waste online!  ;P
636  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: April 17, 2015, 08:24:36 AM
I only use local bitcoin because of all the payment processors. Other are good but they are not that reliable for my country at the moment  Sad

The advantage with LBC is that it is available in a very large number of nations. But you need to be really careful about the sellers / buyers. Trust only those having large volumes and good feedback scores.

The other benefit is that you can use cash to bu Bitcoin, even large quantities. This is not possible with exchanges where you have to wire money from bank account, sometimes going through all that strict KYC policies.

But yes, you have to be careful and choose trusted sellers with good feedback. Otherwise you can be easily scammed by someone.
