781  Economy / Speculation / Re: If btc -> moon and you no longer need to work, what will you do with your time? on: March 16, 2015, 04:47:04 AM
Obviously this is a fantasy thread. I'm not suggesting this will happen.

I will travel around the world until my body supports it.

You see something new out there in the world and that changes your view of the things and your attitude towards life.
Imagine doing this every day and what value this could bring to your life!

For as long as your body supports it, you mean, I think? I agree, though. We are children of the world, we should be able to go whereever we want, whenever we want. Shame that the current world economy doesn't like that very much.

That is a shame those with the lack of funds are prisoners in the country they reside, i mean some can't even afford a passport even if they wanted to leave. I would work for myself setting up many businesses i don't think there is a better way than to keep working just on your own terms to your own schedule. If it went crazily to the moon like 10,000 i would take a trip to space in the next few years, i would buy land maybe in Thailand and live out my life by the shore with no financial care Smiley

Yes, I wanted to say "as long as my body supports it".

I always wanted to travel more and more from the day I was a kid. I mean what's the point in living your entire life in a particular region? Thanks to the internet, we now have a way to at least know about what's happening in the world outside of our locality. When you see something you have never seen before, you realize what you didn't know and that changes your whole attitude towards life (and death).

If Bitcoin reaches $10,000 or more, I'm dedicating my life to traveling.

783  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to do cold storage on an ubuntu dual boot desktokp w/ windows 7 is that ok? on: March 15, 2015, 07:50:01 PM
I want to dual boot my desktop for Windows 7 and Ubuntu (using Ubuntu as an offline cold storage device and using Armory as my cold storage wallet program), is this a good idea? I'd deactivate wifi on Ubuntu (or even remove the wifi usb stick). And if so, should i use the long term support version of ubuntu and just load armory on a usb stick to install, will that work?

For creating a cold storage, I would suggest you use a live Ubuntu CD.

Because when you have generated the cold wallet and copieed it over to a USB drive, you can just reboot the PC and remove the live disk and it is as good as formatting.
You don't want to keep any associated data to be on your operating system once you have created the cold wallet.

The wallet.dat file is still there and may be able to recovered. Its still a bad plan.

If the OP really wants to use the same PC, better to get a spare HDD and swap it with your normal one.

I didn't understand the "wallet.dat file is still there" part.
When you use a live Ubuntu CD and then reboot, how is the wallet file still there? It is where? (Apart from teh USB drive on which you copied the file)

As Karartma1 said, there is a minimum amount for balance you should have in order to withdraw.

I entered my own address and it said:
Withdrawal limit: 0.00005825 BTC

Though this limit can be modified, so different people have different limits. Check yours.
785  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Photos from a Mexican drug lord's home after it was raided last year. on: March 15, 2015, 07:41:01 PM
Why didn't they convert the cash to Bitcoins? Could have put some money away. Love to sleep on that pile.

Bitcoin didn't exist yet when this actually happened in 2007.

After Satoshi's house was raided in Mexico and all his $22 Billion cash was seized in 2007, he started working on Bitcoin that no one can seize and released it in 2008.

786  Economy / Securities / Re: HAVELOCK tried to BRIBE ME! on: March 15, 2015, 07:35:08 PM

erm, he should have taken the bribe to confirm it was actually a bribe and not just words in an email.... then take the moral ground back by dispersing the bribe for the greater good.

Or just returning the 10 BTC to original address. But it doesn't matter now. The matter is all open publicly.

I'm not aware of Havelock or AmHash scam, but from what I'm reading, I appreciate what OP did. Exposing malicious practices instead of accepting the bribe.

789  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: March 15, 2015, 07:20:20 PM
I see a lot of people saying "just one", why are you so sure? It's just been a few years since bitcoin began, anything could happen at anytime. It could be worth $0.10 tomorrow, no-one knows!  Lips sealed

Exactly.

The OP's question if fundamentally flawed. It assumes that the price variation in Bitcoin is predictable. (It also assumes the price can only go UP, which is even worse assumption).
No one knows what Bitcoin will mean after 20 years, so we should stop answering the question like we're holding a crystal ball in our hands. Anything can happen.

Edit: Would also like any suggestions on including and excluding boards. Smiley

I would like to suggest any local boards should be INCLUDED as fas as the language is English.

For example you'll see some quality discussion going on in Indian forum which is all in English and appeals global audience.
Would it not be unfair to the other ethnic group and users of different language than english? It will make users from India more privileged than rest of us.
I wouldn't be able to write in my local board but Indian users will? I only post in english so I don't have problem with that but others may think that it is unfair.

You are probably right.
But for a moderator whose native language is English, it is easy to eveluate quality of posts in English boards opposite to other local languages.

But it is a call that ndnhc needs to take after all.

Wtf, he is not online for half a year, is he cry in toilet?  Shocked

The 2 pizzas cost 3 million USD now, the most expensive pizzas in the world.

If the pizza seller still doesn't sell 10k btc, he is a millionaire now. I am not sure did he sell btc under 30 USD or even lower price.

Anyone knows their story? Grin

From OP's following post, it is clear that someone called "jercos" sold him the "World's Most Expensive Pizza"

I just want to report that I successfully traded 10,000 bitcoins for pizza.

Pictures: http://heliacal.net/~solar/bitcoin/pizza/

Thanks jercos!

But when I searched the forum for the member "jercos", there seems to be no one with that username.

PS: I might print a custom T-Shirt with a picture of that pizza with a quote "World's Most Expensive Pizza Ever"   Cheesy

796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BIG Problem, can't acces my cold wallet.dat file on: March 15, 2015, 06:19:57 PM
-snip-
I'm actually surprised they'd only ask for 10%...

But keep in mind that if you let ANYONE else to your coins, you never know what's going to happen to them. They might return your 90% or they might not.

Welsh is using a method that makes sure they can figure out the password, but not access the private keys once they got it. Similar to walletrecoveryservice. Thus its pretty safe if you follow the instructions. Payment usually works via escrow as well, because once the customer has the password they could just run.

Also, from walletrecoveryservices FAQ:
"Fortunately, the design of the bitcoin wallet is such that you can send us just part of the wallet information. The part you send us allows us to decrypt the wallet, without giving us any opportunity to steal your money."

797  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is signature campaign? on: March 15, 2015, 06:13:16 PM
In your profile settings, you have ability to put some text that will appear below each of your posts. This is called your signature. Some companies will 'rent' this space for their advertise and will pay you Bitcoins in return.

For example, you can see an advertisement as my signature (below my post) for which the DaDice site owner pays me certain amount of BTC every month.

For detailed information about the existing signature campaign, look here:

798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS NOT A FAUCET OWNER ALSO RESPONSIBLE TO PROMOTE A SCAM? on: March 15, 2015, 06:08:03 PM
I know very well that a faucet mainly run by advertisement. Many faucet owners continuously requesting the users to click the ads. Some one like http://bitcoinpuddle.com/faucet threatening users to click ads otherwise they will not disburse the winning amount.

It is a common saying that Google always band a click sense account if the account holder openly request users to click the ads. I think for this reason maximum faucet owner run scammers ads in their sites & keep requesting to click them. These double or triple or even more folds making ads are too much addictive and alluring that some simple newbie fall in their traps, subsequently lost all their deposits.

My question to the faucets owners, can't they stop showing those scmmers advertisement to help general users?

My request to facets users, when you visit a faucet for some free coins please click 1/2 legal ads so they may run properly without the help of some cheat multifolderer.

If forcing users to click on ads is a violation of AdSense terms, you can report such violation here:
https://support.google.com/adsense/troubleshooter/1190500

If your claim turn out to be genuine, Google may even ban the site from using AdSense. This might result in closing down the faucet as well.
