823  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Igot.com thinks Indians are FOOL - Igot.com Complaint - Igot.com is scam. on: March 12, 2015, 09:07:45 AM
There are countless threads on this forum alone, pointing out to the worst customer service from iGot.

Most notably this one:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=395675.0

Please stay away from it. If you're in India and really want to buy Bitcoin from an exchange, try:
Unocoin.com
coinsecure.in
824  Local / Marketplace (India) / Re: Best Bitcoin Exchange that love Indian's - not like igot fools. on: March 12, 2015, 09:04:27 AM
Thank you for your lists.

i will give a try all of them...

I have heard many negative reviews about iGot, so please avoid it.

Talking about good exchanges, I have personally used Unocoin and Coinsecure.
While both are good, they operate in slightly different way.

Unocoin is like Coinbase of India, where you don't deal with other traders directly. You send a fixed amount to them and they send Bitcoins to you. It is that simple.
Coinsecure is direct user-to-user trading platform. You can see what other people are selling and for how much. Traders decide what price they want to buy/sell for.

While I like the user-to-user idea more (Coinsecure), the volume is generally low. So if you're willing to buy more than 1 BTC, you might be out of luck with Coinsecure. In such case you will have to go for Unocoin.

So 11th march conference cancelled?
Venue for 19th ?

11th March was just a meetup as we were in Delhi and thought we can meet few delhi bitcoines if they are around.

19th March conference is in Ahmedabad and its getting good traction now. We are expecting good crowd.

Regards

In Ahmedabad? That's good!
I might be able to pitch in. Where can I find more information about this meetup?
826  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin useres on: March 12, 2015, 06:33:06 AM
Does anyone know how many people is using bitcoin very often and how many are "weekends" users, with weekend users I meant people who bought it and hold it for a long time Smiley
you can't really get exact number of bitcoin users, it's not possible i guess. for rough ideas check out the links posted by Anillos2.

This is the beauty of Bitcoin. You can never know.

Different wallet addresses does not mean different people, so it would be impossible to link transaction volume or wallet addresses to the number of people using Bitcoin. And I like it.
827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: help me :( on: March 12, 2015, 06:25:21 AM
The transaction now doesn't exist on blockchain. So I believe it was never confirmed, and then it got cancelled.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEARCHING FOR Jim_Rambler and Orangecoin on: March 12, 2015, 05:47:56 AM
I have to try to look for him elsewhere.

Both are on Twitter. However they haven't tweeted in past few months.
https://twitter.com/jim_rambler
https://twitter.com/Orangecoins

But you could try sending a direct message on Twitter and they'll receive an email notification hopefully.
829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many confirmations until i can re-send the money on: March 12, 2015, 05:37:50 AM
In multibit it's possible after 1 confirmation.
where i can see that 1 confirmation in multibit ? i just see green circle then tick, whether it's 1 confirmation?
i had a few days using multibit

The circle turns green gradually with every confirmation.
With one confirmation, you can see a 60 degree pie of the circle turned green.

At 6 confirmations, the circle turns into green tick mark.
830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone tried to get into my blockchain. on: March 12, 2015, 05:33:26 AM
Now that we have narrowed down the access attempt to Google spider, I don't think there is much reason to panic.
Nobody is going to login into your account and steal your Bitcoins.

The only worry you should have is where the spider got the link to your username.

The best you could do now is create a new account on Blockchain and transfer funds from old wallet to new one.
If the funds are very large, I would suggest moving most of it to cold wallet and keeping only a small amount on Blockchain.
831  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: issue on: March 12, 2015, 05:04:33 AM
NeuroticFish answered your question pretty good, so I don't think you'll need any further help on how to setup your mining program.

However many users have pointed out that mining Bitcoins with CPU/GPU is not feasible now a days. You will get nothing.
It is better to mine alt-coins and then trade your alt-coins for Bitcoins.

There are some 'Multipools' that mine alt-coins and then trade them for you, so you get your earnings in Bitcoins.
One such pool is http://clevermining.com/
Have a look around their site and see how it works.
832  Other / Meta / Re: How can I unsubscribe from a topic? on: March 12, 2015, 04:53:47 AM
AFAIK, it is currently not possible to 'unfollow' a thread in which you have posted. This feature is greatly needed because the thread list keeps getting bigger and bigger day-by-day and many of them are of no further interest to me.

Maybe this will be implemented in new forum software?
833  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Secure My Bitcoin Wallet: Bitcoin Security Tips on: March 11, 2015, 08:52:34 AM
For me, online wallet is the way to go. Other ones are more secure but so paranoid.

Paranoid, yes. But I'd like to be a little paranoid when my Bitcoins are involved.

They might be worth $500 today but we don't know how much they'll be in future, so I better keep them as safe as possible.
834  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bought my first 0.18 bitcoin! on: March 11, 2015, 08:50:35 AM
You guys don't pay wire transfers to your banks? [...]

I don't think I follow your question here. But what I meant to say was Bitstamp accepts wire transfers from any bank account in the world and $15 was charged for this by Bitstamp.

So if you send them$300, you get $285 in your Bitstamp account.
If you send them $700, you get $685.

It was a $15 flat fee.
I'm not sure if the $15 amount has changed in their new fee structure.
835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LLOYDS STOLLED MY BITCOINS on: March 11, 2015, 08:45:15 AM
i have difficulty reading this

Good for you! There's really nothing to read and understand.

In fact you just saved yourself from a troll post.

837  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 03-07-2015 UTorrent Update Installs Crypto Miner Without User Approval on: March 09, 2015, 12:59:30 PM
Im sorry but this is just trash journalism at its worst, the title is totaly incorrect @btcfeed, because its not without users approoval.
The problem is coming from utorrent partnership program, which offers optional offer from their partners, and the only ones that get suckered in are users
that skip through instalation in 2 seconds not reading what the selected options even are, and that leaves them with 99 toolbars, lowest trash search engine and mallware(actually more like adware), and thats that.

cheers

Yes, but the parent company BitTorrent allows such software as part of their uTorrent client is somewhat disturbing to me.

As I see it, the bundled program in question is no better than a trojan, using computer resources without user knowledge to generate revenue for third party.
No responsible company should allow this to be bundled with their software, period - revenue or no revenue.

[....] See the image showing that I am logged in and the balance is $0.00, plus see that I have clicked "Request" but still don't have a receiver address. Multi-bit is terrible software, it's lost my money and is overly complicated to use. I am now using https://www.coinbase.com and it works much better. But, I still want my money from Multi-bit wallet, even though it's not much, it's the principle.

<img>

From the image, it looks like Multibit is open, but it has not opened the wallet file yet (just like when you have Photoshop open, but you have not opened any image file with it)

Do this:
Go to File --> Open wallet
Then browse to C:\Users\username\App Data\Roaming\Multibit  ( assuming you're on Windows 7 or 8 )

There should be a "wallet.dat" file there.
Click on it and open it.

Do you see your Bitcoin balance now?
840  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: How i go online? on: March 09, 2015, 11:32:30 AM
OK, I didn't know that Armory needs QT wallet to function.

AFAIK all wallets which download blockchain needs Bitcoin core unless they add Bitcoin core's functions to that wallet.

So Armory is not a 'light' wallet, then?

No but if you like to use Armory, you can use CounterWallet isntead of Armory online and Armory offline.

I currently use Multibit and was thinking of trying out another 'light' wallet.

Try Multibit-HD. It is in beta phase but it is good.

What are my options? Electrum?

Browser wallet: GreenAddress(recommemded).
Other wallets: Bither, Electrum and Multibit-HD.

   -MZ

Thank you for elaborate answer.
I took a quick search-tour of Multibit-HD and I like it. But it is still in beta phase, so I'll wait until stable release.

Will have a look at Electrum also.
