721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Boolberry Solves CryptoNote Flaws on: March 31, 2015, 05:16:55 AM
I think it's worth stressing that after the BBR team noted the problem with traceability, the rest of the Cryptonote community seemed to be oblivious of the problem for quite some time. It was later declared "a minor issue" to be fixed with a "minor" GUI improvement... last time I checked (but that was some time ago) the modification was still not there. Go wonder.

So Boolberry is the only cryptonote coin right now to have successfully 'fixed' the traceability issue of mixing=0 transactions?
722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is this possible on: March 30, 2015, 09:21:16 AM
Now i have uninstalled google, did a restart, scanned with Malware bytes , the 7 unwanted programs google chrome extensions are not anymore. Changed the wallet 2FA to email , google email which i have also via a SMS message. Am surfing with Firefox, its feeling great now with ADBLOCK , and avira browser security ,plus malwarebytes and Eset smart security latest update. I am giving a final go to my old wallet. What do you guys think Huh(I know ,i am too stubborn but thats me)

If you don't want to re-install Windows and you're not certain that your PC is free from keyloggers, I would suggest you use a virtual keyboard every time you put password in your Bitcoin wallet.

All modern Windows versions come with in-built virtual keyboard. Also may top antivirus programs come with virtual keyboard, not sure about ESET.
723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody in the 1000 Bitcoins club here? on: March 30, 2015, 09:16:24 AM
Nobody will share this information honestly if they possess that many Bitcoins.

See here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408994.0

Notice how many people said they own more than a million BTC?
People don't respond to such questions honestly and openly.
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEOS]Neos v2.1- Blowfish, 2FA, Theft Recovery, Decoy System - SHA-256 on: March 30, 2015, 06:57:04 AM
An old time NEOS supporter here.

Nice to see all these security features coming together. I will try to upgrade (I'm on Windows 8.1) and see how it goes. If I need any help, I know syntaks is always there  Smiley
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most undervalued coin? on: March 30, 2015, 06:48:14 AM
Neoscoin seems to have been first launched in an ipo on a moderated thread then relaunched under a clean thread to hide the stains. Market cap $23,000. I do not own any.

Just so you know, the new ANN thread (NOT moderated) is l;ocated here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=994415

Features like no other altcoin, dedicated developer like no other altcoin, a wallet like no other altcoin.

Quote
In-wallet trading (one-click withdrawal, mass order cancellation, one-click deposit, order executions, candlesticks)
An in-wallet block explorer
Encrypted messaging
Live statistics and market data
In-wallet personalized mining worker stats and multipool stats
In-wallet mining calculator
Dashboard news as polled from our Twitter account
Multi-currency conversion data (BTC and 21 different currencies supported)
The ability to export your transactions to 3 different formats (Excel, CSV, and JSON)
Personal aliases for receiving both Neos and messages
One-click wallet updates with automatic notification of new updates
Automatic 24-hour backups of your wallet
Market data and statistics (Neos in circulation, market cap, averaged value, averaged global trade volume)
The authentication system and unique theft recovery system

I suggest you take a second look before calling it a scam coin. Just offering an ICO doesn't make it a scam.
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Price Checker Sites? on: March 30, 2015, 05:13:46 AM
Like mentioned before, Exchangewar is a great site I'm using regularly (Example). Another interesting site is AltcoinLive (Example).

Thanks, I have added both to OP list.
AltcoinLive seems to be very comprehensive!
727  Other / MultiBit / Re: How to Check Balance of Individual Addresses within Multibit? on: March 30, 2015, 05:00:27 AM
As the title says.

For example I have a Multibit wallet that contains 100 addresses. Multibit shows me the total balance of the wallet. I need to know which addresses make up this balance. Several addresses out of these 100 may be empty and there may be just a couple of addresses that make up the total balance of the wallet.

How do I know?

With Multibit you cannot. The developer's purposefully keep this information hidden to make the wallet a beginner's wallet. If you want to see each individual address and balance switch to Electrum 2.0.X.

Thank you for responding. I'll try Electrum.

As a work around, I can input addresses in blockchain.info and check balances. But if I need to check several addresses, it's a pain in the ass.
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most undervalued coin? on: March 29, 2015, 04:50:29 PM
I can see you have put NEOS on scam list.  This is a terrible mistake.

Just because ICO was offered and the thread is moderated does not make it a scam coin.

I searched whole internet for posts written by Satoshi. And I find his last post. It is here: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com/forum/topics/bitcoin-open-source?commentId=2003008%3AComment%3A52186

 "I am not Dorian Nakamoto."

So he is not inactive like some may think. He is lurking around.

This is nothing new.

This incident is very well known and has been discussed numerous times in this forum.

Apparently Satoshi's account was hacked and the hacker posted this. The message was not signed, so nobody believes it to be from Satoshi.
731  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Scientific Experiment with Reward in Bitcoin on: March 28, 2015, 04:43:37 PM
University of Zurich performs an experiment that rewards participants in Bitcoins:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1IrJJn7Th9veghxfirrj3aQqx23nhDBhUIBGspfaybS4/viewform

That's probably the first time Bitcoin is used for scientific research. Bitcoin is a great choice as it allows for anonymous incentives.

Reddit discussion:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2pzc4h/play_a_game_earn_bitcoins_for_science/

Well, looks like the experiment has ended; they're still accepting the survey but payments are over.

10 mBTC isn't huge, but what's important is that they thought of using Bitcoin as a reward, opening a new way of using Bitcoins.

It's a funny question they've put up. Don't really see what result they will get out of the questions, but hey ho. Will report back if I happen to get the reward paid out.

I didn't know this was still active. Last time I checked, it was disabled.

Nonetheless I participated today. But it says "Payouts are already scheduled to take place by December 31st 2014."
Never mind Smiley

733  Economy / Economics / Re: destroying bitcoins on: March 28, 2015, 01:54:32 PM
Dear OP,

Let's assume that burning coins will increase the price. (I am not saying I believe in it, but let's assume.)

But what is the guarantee that you don't have the private key?
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Price Checker Sites? on: March 27, 2015, 12:04:20 PM

Whoa...  now that's something I call a list!
I'll evaluate them and add to OP. Thanks for this!

EDIT: I have added them to OP list.
Non-english sites, exchanges, sites not showing values in BTC, and sites having clumsy interface have been excluded.
735  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Website - Looking for beta testers on: March 27, 2015, 12:01:57 PM
I am not trying to run a scam. If you sign up 4, and each of your 4 sign up four, you receive the bracket money from a total of 16 people. 16 * .001 is .016.

After that you cannot make any more bitcoin without purchasing another bracket.

And if you bought 4000 brackets, you would lose 1 btc. Because I don't think you know 4000 people that you could refer.

OK then, let's discuss this.

What do you offer to people in exchange to their Bitcoins?
I know you offer 'brackets', but what value do these brackets have? What should I do with them apart from luring others to join this ponzi scheme?
736  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it safe to keep your coins in Bitstamp? on: March 27, 2015, 11:57:07 AM
As the title asks, is it safe to store your coins in Bitstamp's online wallet?

This question can be read as:
"Is it safe to store your coins in any online wallet?"

Bitstamp or not, trust no one.
Keep a small amount for trading or other purposes, but transfer your savings to a cold wallet.
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Price Checker Sites? on: March 27, 2015, 09:46:19 AM
Use this one: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/main/priceBoxes

I use it myself, it lists almost all the coins.

Thanks, this site is remarkable in terms of how many coins it is listing.
I'll definitely bookmark this.

I was using this site for a long time:
http://www.crypto-prices.com/

It had a very clean interface and searching for coins was real-time. I really like it, but somehow it has closed down now (I don't know why, it had paid memberships, too).
You can still see it on wayback machine. It was very clean and nice.
http://web.archive.org/web/20141217021040/http://crypto-prices.com/

Anyone has any recommendations on similar sites to check altcoin prices?

I use bitcoinwisdom, they list the alts that actually are worth something Smiley

Thanks, the site looks good and very easy to use. However it lists only few Altcoins as you said and many of currencies I am interested in aren't listed.
Will keep an eye on it, though.
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Price Checker Sites? on: March 27, 2015, 07:40:52 AM
www.coinmarketcap.com shows the price of altcoins in USD and BTC.
www.coinwarz.com for mining calculations.

I hope it helps Smiley

Thanks, I was aware of the coinmarketcap. It is good however I'm not very fond of the UI and how many clicks you have to make to check prices of different coins.

Apparently coinwarz also has price checking page, I wasn't aware of that. It feels better than coinmarketcap. Thanks for sharing!
