981  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium removed from Google Play on: February 11, 2015, 07:22:51 AM
I think we have to make our own app store like Google Store.

For apps that do well but get rejected/taken down from official Play Store, there's an alternative:
F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/

For example there's an app called AdAway that lets rooted android users remove all kind of ads by updating the HOSTS file.
Google removed all such ad-nemesis apps fro official Play Store more than a year ago, but they continue to grow and are available through F-Droid.
982  Other / Off-topic / Darpa Is Developing a Search Engine for the Dark Web on: February 11, 2015, 07:17:50 AM
How big is that?

http://www.wired.com/2015/02/darpa-memex-dark-web/

Quote
A new search engine being developed by Darpa aims to shine a light on the dark web and uncover patterns and relationships in online data to help law enforcement and others track illegal activity.

At present, the dark web is *assumed* to be 4000 times bigger than regular web that can be accessed without TOR.
However this is only a guestimate because without proper search tools it is virtually impossible to make any sensible estimate of the size of DarkWeb.

When this starts to work, we can have a better idea of how big it is, and most importantly how much illegal activities actually go in there.
983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Dark going to the moon? on: February 11, 2015, 07:04:37 AM
I keep hearing about ripple and dark on the major networks as the new coins to take seriously. I see Dark price is going parabolic. What is going on?

No idea about Ripple, but the recent price hike in case of DRK is because of the successful implementation of InstantX.

985  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: McDonald’s might start accepting Bitcoin soon on: February 11, 2015, 05:28:47 AM
If they do it will be yet another place where Bitcoin can be spent to further reduce the price. I don't why this news excites holders.

Correct. Every purchase using Bitcoin will result in an immediate sell order to take the price down further. This has been the case with major companies 'accepting' Bitcoin in past. They don't actually 'accept' Bitcoin. They just make you easier for you to pay with Bitcoin. They convert the Bitcoins to fiat on the fly.

Only thing that can be a boost if they actually hold on to the BTC they accept.

If MCD started accepting bitcoin it would result in pretty huge demand increase for bitcoin I guess.

Not until Bitcoin transactions are super-easy like cash or credit cards
OR
Bitcoin provides some significant benefit for buyer to pay via Bitcoin.

Until then, the only people paying via Bitcoin would be the BitcoinTalk forum members.
986  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage on: February 11, 2015, 05:24:29 AM
Sometimes the BTC/USD rate differ a lot from an exchange to another, can be several USD. If I have an account in bitfinex, can I transfer the coins to kraken and sell them there ? For example if the rate is 220 $ in bitfinex and 225 $ in kraken.

That would make sense if the price difference is significantly large.

For smaller price differences, you would actually lose trying to arbitrage. The reason being the trading fees on exchanges, withdrawal/deposit fees etc.

And there is no guarantee the price will stick to it by the time you transfer your coins from one exchange to another.

[...] due to a violation on the Google Play content policy [...]

Well, that's bad news. But what violation exactly we're talking about? Or is it not clear at this point?

I hope users' Bitcoins are not lost because of this.

He also posted this:

[...]And im sure more accounts at Blockchain are compromissed as i see more incoming in that last one![...]

From your security measures (protecting your PC, 2FA etc) and this part of your post, it seems to me that this is not a hacked account but something to do on Blockchain.info's side that can cause private keys to be leaked.

This has happened in past with this site and who is to say this isn't one more of the site's vulnerability?

We can only verify when other users have similar issues as yours though.

Find a SHA-256 algorithm based coin if you can't find a buyer of that miner. If you can't find a good altcoin to mine, you're better off selling that miner to another person.

Can you suggest at least ONE good alt coin good for mining? I have a feeling that all every alt coin now is just pump and dump scheme and we won't be seeing another dogecoin anytime soon.

NEOS is one good SHA-256 coin that is not a pump-and-dump. The developer is dedicated to steady development and the coin features are just too good.
It is severely undervalued right now, but has a lot of potential.

Cool...! So many improvements over previous version.

I am currently using v2.0.1b on Windows
Is the upgrade process as simple as downloading the latest executable and installing it?

be fast if you want send me 10$ btc and i will do cod for you
LOL.
Why will we want to order the phone by COD through you?
We can do it ourselves.
Why should we waste money in using you for just placing an order?

- The handset in question is mostly out of stock
- Gets sold within seconds when it is back in stock
- The purchase requires prior registration on Flipkart

Chances are you'll not be able to buy one for weeks to come.
If you want it right now, your only option is to buy from someone who already has an active order.
996  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to stop marketing calls ? idea? on: February 10, 2015, 12:31:31 PM
Getting tons of these things, usually a person asking for someone who doesnt live at the address.   They care little that they've disturbed you, who are these people that take a job calling people like this?

Anyway, whats the best way to deafen them? im thinking speak really quiet to suck them in and then shout really loud or use some device to send a large sound down the phone mic.  Maybe they wont call again?

Which country you live in? Some countries have a system called 'DND' (Do Not Disturb) or something along those lines.

Basically you register your phone number with this and marketing calls stop.
If you still get a marketing call, you can file a complaint through free SMS and their connection gets disconnected.

Some countries provide this service for free, some charge a little.

EDIT:
Here's example for India: http://ndnc.net/
997  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Anyone used a 8 PIN CPU to PCIe converter? on: February 10, 2015, 12:23:04 PM
Something such as shown.

I am thinking about getting a few of these. I got a few unused 8PIN CPU connectors which would be perfect if they werent used to power some miners. They say the 8 PIN CPU allows up to 300Watts of power.

<img>

I have used one of them to power my Sapphire HD7950. The GPU required two 6-PIN power connectors while my PSU had only one.

I used 4-PIN to 6-PIN Power converter (the one you've shown) to power the 2nd 6-PIN connector on GPU.
998  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Here's a pretty easy chace to earn 100k. Just a few steps on: February 10, 2015, 11:57:54 AM
From my understanding, because it's a little unclear, you have to sign up for a brokerage account or at least refer someone that starts a brokerage account. It's free, but just filling out the register form doesn't count.

Thanks,

999  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hong Kong Issues Warning About Bitcoin on: February 10, 2015, 11:52:37 AM
"Hong Kong’s central bank has warned against investing in virtual currencies"

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/11/business/international/hong-kong-issues-warning-about-bitcoin.html?_r=1

They do this all the time. China and Hong Kong.

Create panic by "banning" Bitcoin or issue warning against it, and then they keep accumulating more and more Bitcoins.

These ponzi threads are getting out of control.
