Btw, POODLE? Quite a letdown, after cool names like Heartbleed and Shellshock.

Yeah, it's a terrible name. The vulnerability isn't nearly as bad as Heartbleed or Shellshock, though.

It is an acronym it stands for "Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encription"

The vulnerability was discovered by Google, so most likely they came up with DOODLE acronym first and then worked their way back to generate a plausible-sounding full form Tongue
DOODLE and POODLE - D and P

Dire and Padding?

My bad! Although they both don't look much different to me Tongue

Bitcointalk Forum has this on the news:

"Due to a recently-discovered flaw in the TLS and SSL protocols, you may want to change your password, especially if you accessed the forum using Tor."

What will happen if I will not change my password?

1524  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: October 15, 2014, 10:23:22 AM
1 pizza=10000 BTC?

are you joking?

Replying to a 2010 dated post in 2014?

Are YOU joking?
1525  Economy / Services / Re: FortuneJack.com Signature Campaign – Earn 0.08 BTC!!! on: October 15, 2014, 10:11:00 AM
I have joined another campaign FJ; you can free up my slot for anyone who is interested.

It is a nice campaign and FJ has been prompt and professional. If it wasn't for the pay rates, I would have definitely continued.

I am amazed this thread is silent when Mintpal has filed for bankruptcy.
1528  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any one heard about www.igot.com on: October 15, 2014, 04:54:24 AM
My hard earned has been locked up in igot for a very long time. I have been unable to move any funds around for more than a month.
I stupidly let a friend who wanted some coins fund my account via bpay and my account was frozen under their "know your customer" rules.
I had to supply identification for my friend in order to unlock my funds.
I supplied the ID requested more than 2 weeks ago and they still haven't managed to verify him.
Replies from customer service have been kurt and lacking in any detail as to why this is taking so long.
They have been happy to accept further deposits and have been happy to let me spend said deposits on more BTC but won't let me sell, withdrawal or move BTC.
This is doing my head in.
I have a support ticket that's many pages in length, most of which is made up of me whinging and begging.
Can anyone tell me if verification should take this long (it didn't when I verified myself) ??
Or is there something weird going on?
They even mentioned that "my friend could be a member of ISIS for all they know."
They have enough ID to leave no doubt that everybody is who they say they are, and there is a paper trail a mile long that would cover their arses should anything untoward happen.
I don't get it.

So it seems everybody should stay away from this service. You're one of the many people having issues with them, and this thread is only 5 pages long. And still it is full of dissatisfied customers.

I would just steer clear of them. On the very first page I wrote a comment www.igot*robbed*.com
I was just having fun when I posted that, but it seems like it sounds true after all.

Using any exchange to buy Bitcoins seems to be the weakest link here.

Why use an exchange when you can find a local seller on localbitcoins.com and buy Bitcoins with cash?
1531  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Pizza for bitcoins? on: October 14, 2014, 11:30:28 AM
that was amazing and shows how far bitcoin has come,  I've made a few purchases on an unnamed website a while ago while btc was in the $30-50 range and i think back i even probably have a wallet or two with the left over change like .5btc -.25btc that i didnt even think was worth keeping uup withh the wallets priv key at the time when i was getting new computer... this thread brought back some btc memories lol is the OP still active on forum is what i really want to know lol???

Damn >_< should've known it would be full in seconds, guess I'll have to search elsewhere, thanks, I must have miscounted how many there were because the ranks weren't grouped together lol looked like a good one too.

If I could suggest, this one seems to be open right now:

It doesn't pay as good as this one, but you'll have something than nothing.

1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Re: How 'Anonymous' is Bitcoin? on: October 14, 2014, 10:05:23 AM
IP logging can be an issue with bitcoins. Here is more info on the anonymity part of bitcoin: https://bitcoin.org/en/protect-your-privacy
use Tor or i2p with bitcoin.

Are paid VPN services useful?
I recently tried out paid version of CyberGhost VPN (http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en) where you can fake your IP to your choice of country.

Does this provide anonymity, given that we use new BTC address for every transaction?
1535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto post on pastebin? on: October 14, 2014, 07:13:02 AM
How would Satoshi have the private keys for DPR seized coins?

Aren't Bitcoin private keys Satoshi-proof?

Creation: Copy bitcoinaddress.org site to CD, run on offline computer, create encrypted addresses, print them to .xps and copy to cd, destory hard drive.

Removal: decrypt an address on offline computer, copy a private key to cd, destroy hard drive.  Upload private key to a wallet.

Effectiveness = 100%?
You will want to create multiple backups of your private key. This is true for both quantity and type of backup. If the CD you copy the private key to is defective and gets corrupted then you would have no way to recover your lost money

Oh.. I have like 8 USB's and 6 CD's, 2 HD's, 1 External HD.  I used a CD to move them off the offline HD so nothing could be copied from the HD but what I wanted.  Then backed it up like a mad man.. I don't know if I am done backing up actually.. Kinda had some crazy plans to plant them around a large area in weather proof containers....  yaa..  LOL .. PROTECTION PROTECTION PROTECTION.  Was going to go to factory direct to buy a but ton of CD's.

Instead of hiding outdoors in weather proof containers might look into a lock box at a bank.   You could easily store a raspberry pi, cd's, usb's etc to have safely stored as a backup.

Got copies stored in my lock box at the bank as well Wink

Next time when NASA launches a rover to Moon or Mars, I will send my private keys with it to be planted there, just to be sure of being protected from any apocalypse.

BITCOIN TO THE MOON, LITERALLY!!  Cheesy
1538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: who lost all their btc from mintpal? on: October 13, 2014, 01:16:45 PM
I was only able to withdraw by converting my btc to pnd and then withdrawing the pnd. Everytime I tried to withdraw btc it got stuck at "awaiting confirmation" and "pending". I am good now sans about 14 million karma.

My MINT is stuck. I can't even cancel the withdraw. It just says it's "Requested" and has been for 36+ hours now. Clicking cancel does nothing. Shows the transaction id as "-1"

MINT stuck on MINTpal. I see the irony.  Tongue

Do you really have to do this?

Can't you just:
--> Disconnect from internet
--> Boot from a live Ubuntu disc/USB
--> Run a wallet like MultiBit, generate offline addresses
--> Copy/write keys to DVD, print paper wallets
--> Shut down the PC
