an what ever happen to the faster they got the Less Electricity they used by that I mean miners doing lets says 15 th using below 1 k watts or 900 watts ...... or 15 th with 900 watts @ the wall .... well anyway i knew that was a pipe dream, right now.  they do indeed use less now but I expected better power usage by now . but then again they also don't make home miners either like they did once upon a time or when they first started  out . just my 2 cents worth .

6 k wow is it really worth that .. most btc miners top out around 2k plus adding insult to injury 50 A6's required to buy ... man we need more company's making Scrpt miners sense we have enough now for BTC miners an that's keeping the price down some on btc miners, they are getting greedily and greedier every day .

and the  stratum-proxy i linked  only supports sha256 coins and scrypt coins ..before anyone comes back an says it doesn't work with minera an GPUs , minera doesn't support some GPU Mining .. Ive tried and had some stuff GPU mining not very good but did it ...it wasn't worth it to me .


any stratum-proxy should work with minera if you can figure out how to load it an use it in minera . i never could so i used a external stratum-proxy on my local home network .

depending on were in the world you live you might be able to get it cheater .. to many greedy ass holes in the US .

I just learned some thing new I knew you could a sign static IP at the router level but never thought it was better that way. do you use the Mac address, I may give it a shot ...

There should be or was when I owned a few S5, the UI looks about the same look under network on antminer in the gui ... I don't own any now but from what I've seen there UI hasn't changed much sense the S5 days or lay out ...just the mining soft ware on there built in PI.

 I would go with the 1060 6gb for about the same price an get more hash power and use less Electricity. that said if the price comes back down on AMD cards go for it only because of the Price and the AMD driver lay out is great to me  over  NV driver layout but that's a Eye candy type thing .. and who cares if your mining ..... so over all go with NV .....

XMR mining to me so far it about = with NV or AMD ..... I don't know with Vega's that might be better . I'm gonna buy one or two of those later this year ... i mean this year 2018

Once i was able to run it off a PI ,I went with Ubuntu 16 for the reason you stated above .  I use any PI not just a RPI ..... so the pins won't really matter much sense they seem to be about the same on all PI types not just RPI, if you use USB DONGLEs not the on board GPO's on the PI's .

Thanks for that water cooling guide i haven't got around to doing, been to busy with real life, like health issue etc ...

I'm not much with marking cables either, i know i Should be, it does help . if you figure out a better way , would you mind sharing it here for others . believe it or not some still use the Mat/Alchemist miners. Your proof  ...

 I could never get a RTS dongle to work , I even asked for help from the guy who wrote the Firmware, i was real supersized he even bothered to help me at all  ..  he wouldn't help me figure out why the RTS pin didn't work, I guess he figured it's outdated old stuff why brother, i should be glad he did what he did ....... that said

There is a pin one marked on the Hash board either under the white 6 pin data plug or above.... I would have to pull one of my boards and look were but it is by the white 6 pin plug you plug the data cable into not the PCIe power plug.  

... the two middle pins are not needed on the the hash board.

I'll post a picture of one my plugs I made up that works....

to give you some idea ..

Pin 1 :RX to tx
pin 2 : TX to RX
pin 5: GND to GnD
pin 6 : DTR to DTR


 
pin 1 on the hash board is RX that goes to the TX pin on the dongle
PIn 2 on the hash board is TX and that goes to the RX pin on the dongle

Skip the two middle pins on the hash board and go to pin 5

pin 5 on the hash board is Gnd to Gnd pin on the dongle  

PIN 6 is DTR pin on the hash board to dtr pin on the dongle ....

I did try a few different ways to try an make it work with a RTS an never got it to hash, it gave me all kinds of error's using a RTS dongle when i debugged, sense I'm not to skilled at creating code, i gave up after a week of tiring with a RTS dongle and went with what i know worked .

there is two different kinds of dongles one with a DTR pin only an no RTS pin, an one with RTS pin only with no DTR Pin ....

I think it's a driver issue with the BFGMINER rewrite i donated to have finished that was never finished ... and because it's old tech, no one cared when i got my hands on a Alchemist that still works for me or three boards do now.

which is fine because my next buy will either be a L3 + or A4 +, i mine to save now, i don't need to cash in my coins ....

yet another request :?) ... Minor thing so no rush did it with a big update .... if you do it ...

hm that funny i got two 1070 one is 1070 ti  and one 1080 all under 500 bucks .....  from Evga over the last two month ... I guess you have to keep watching for deals ...


and EVGA sells used NV cards that do work i bought one and it works great ...


Also, any 1080's better than others (brands, specs)? Any particular models to stay away from?
 
all the ones I've bought so far Brand doesn't seem to matter .

I also have two 1060 one is 3gb and one is 6gb
