161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Calculating air conditioning on GPU mining rigs, help needed. on: January 13, 2018, 09:45:03 AM
1200W power consumption = 1200W of heat added to the room in one way or another.
AC power ratings are a bit weird but pretty much what you've said. Its very hard to predict what temperature it will be able to hold but it would do what you're asking.

In bitcoin mining, you should avoid AC at all costs because it adds about 35% again to your power bill. The best solution is to exchange air to ambient, ie collecting and exhausting hot air to outside or open windows etc.

Hey dogie

Long time no see Smiley or maybe i haven't been watching much into coins to much else were .....Ive been here but into this stuff more intense.

tip: doesn't Bitmain usually advertise them self , when they do world wide sales ? .... or they have in the past even for used junk . just saying Smiley  nothing more I'm sure bitmain is selling these 5k plus units  but id hold off ...

an what ever happen to the faster they got the Less Electricity they used by that I mean miners doing lets says 15 th using below 1 k watts or 900 watts ...... or 15 th with 900 watts @ the wall .... well anyway i knew that was a pipe dream, right now.  they do indeed use less now but I expected better power usage by now . but then again they also don't make home miners either like they did once upon a time or when they first started  out . just my 2 cents worth .

I will include that one next time. It look like a very minor update.

I know it was more a reminder then any thing .

6 k wow is it really worth that .. most btc miners top out around 2k plus adding insult to injury 50 A6's required to buy ... man we need more company's making Scrpt miners sense we have enough now for BTC miners an that's keeping the price down some on btc miners, they are getting greedily and greedier every day .

definitely interested in this, wish they had a group buy or a lower minimum quantity.

Curious to see if Bitmain is going to respond with something of their own.

an cost less not much less but less ....

Yeah, having a Gh/s scale miner could be important for the marketing.

I smell other new miners coming soon from competitors (Bitmain, BW.com ...).

hope so .
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera v0.9.0] Your next mining dashboard - S9/L3+/D3/CPUminer/CGminer/BFGminer on: January 06, 2018, 11:29:43 PM
Are there plans to add a proper stratum-proxy, or will you continue to use bfgminer for this?

you can join one with minera ,

try this one https://github.com/Stratehm/stratum-proxy/releases  an then run it on a old laptop or any PI PC type .

and the  stratum-proxy i linked  only supports sha256 coins and scrypt coins ..before anyone comes back an says it doesn't work with minera an GPUs , minera doesn't support some GPU Mining .. Ive tried and had some stuff GPU mining not very good but did it ...it wasn't worth it to me .

any stratum-proxy should work with minera if you can figure out how to load it an use it in minera . i never could so i used a external stratum-proxy on my local home network .

169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: matching miner IPs and miner names on: January 03, 2018, 04:35:10 AM
Is there ways to set static IP to Antminer?

My preferred method for setting static IPs is always through my router instead of directly on devices. It can prevent weird issues with DHCP if you do it at the router level instead of trying to set static IPs directly on devices in a DHCP enabled network.

I just learned some thing new I knew you could a sign static IP at the router level but never thought it was better that way. do you use the Mac address, I may give it a shot ...

Is there ways to set static IP to Antminer?

There should be or was when I owned a few S5, the UI looks about the same look under network on antminer in the gui ... I don't own any now but from what I've seen there UI hasn't changed much sense the S5 days or lay out ...just the mining soft ware on there built in PI.

I would go with the 1060 6gb for about the same price an get more hash power and use less Electricity. that said if the price comes back down on AMD cards go for it only because of the Price and the AMD driver lay out is great to me  over  NV driver layout but that's a Eye candy type thing .. and who cares if your mining ..... so over all go with NV .....

XMR mining to me so far it about = with NV or AMD ..... I don't know with Vega's that might be better . I'm gonna buy one or two of those later this year ... i mean this year 2018

Happy New Year everyone ..

lets hope the ass hole in charge of the world gets put under some kind of control in Nov ....an stops those annoying tweets .....I know he the President of our once great nation the US but the US does still lead the way and is losing it more and more every day because of that dick ....

172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alchemist updated support added for RPI with a broke controler on: January 02, 2018, 05:23:42 AM
Important advice:

Ignore that ubuntu 12.04 LTS support will end in few weeks, do not dist-upgrade to 14.04.

You get many problems with libs, which can be fixed... But you cant fixed, that 14.04 dont support "udev" and if you
uninstall udev and try install again... Thaaan your controllboard will no more boot up  Tongue

My story, because this i use Rasp as controller... The stock-controller powered now only the fans  Grin

If i got time, i will try to rescure with SD card. Somebody know this? -> For bootup with SD, must the jumper set to anything? Because
plug in&boot from SD with some ARM-dists dont work.

Once i was able to run it off a PI ,I went with Ubuntu 16 for the reason you stated above .  I use any PI not just a RPI Smiley ..... so the pins won't really matter much sense they seem to be about the same on all PI types not just RPI, if you use USB DONGLEs not the on board GPO's on the PI's .

Thanks for that water cooling guide i haven't got around to doing, been to busy with real life, like health issue etc ...

I'm not much with marking cables either, i know i Should be, it does help . if you figure out a better way , would you mind sharing it here for others . believe it or not some still use the Mat/Alchemist miners. Your proof  Smiley ...
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alchemist updated support added for RPI with a broke controler on: January 02, 2018, 04:37:12 AM
I could never get a RTS dongle to work , I even asked for help from the guy who wrote the Firmware, i was real supersized he even bothered to help me at all  ..  he wouldn't help me figure out why the RTS pin didn't work, I guess he figured it's outdated old stuff why brother, i should be glad he did what he did .......Sad that said

There is a pin one marked on the Hash board either under the white 6 pin data plug or above.... I would have to pull one of my boards and look were but it is by the white 6 pin plug you plug the data cable into not the PCIe power plug.

... the two middle pins are not needed on the the hash board.

I'll post a picture of one my plugs I made up that works....

to give you some idea ..

Pin 1 :RX to tx
pin 2 : TX to RX
pin 5: GND to GnD
pin 6 : DTR to DTR

pin 1 on the hash board is RX that goes to the TX pin on the dongle
PIn 2 on the hash board is TX and that goes to the RX pin on the dongle

Skip the two middle pins on the hash board and go to pin 5

pin 5 on the hash board is Gnd to Gnd pin on the dongle

PIN 6 is DTR pin on the hash board to dtr pin on the dongle ....

I did try a few different ways to try an make it work with a RTS an never got it to hash, it gave me all kinds of error's using a RTS dongle when i debugged, sense I'm not to skilled at creating code, i gave up after a week of tiring with a RTS dongle and went with what i know worked .

there is two different kinds of dongles one with a DTR pin only an no RTS pin, an one with RTS pin only with no DTR Pin ....

I think it's a driver issue with the BFGMINER rewrite i donated to have finished that was never finished ... and because it's old tech, no one cared when i got my hands on a Alchemist that still works for me or three boards do now.

which is fine because my next buy will either be a L3 + or A4 +, i mine to save now, i don't need to cash in my coins ....
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: January 01, 2018, 10:15:09 PM

Hi,
I am interested, but I had some trouble deciphering your erratic post  Cheesy

"price is around 900e,but like i said 400 willfinish the work"
Like you said where? What's your price? "e" is new currency? Never heard of it. Is it Euro? It's 900 or 400 then?

Since you didn't included any meaningful photos and description, I will have to ask: what is the noise machine is generating? Are you including PSUs with it?  If not, what power connectors it's accepting? Shipping from where?

if your the one that bought it there loud.......
177  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][EU] Pretty Stuff, PSUs, TITAN, Alcheminer, MotherBoards... on: December 30, 2017, 11:54:33 PM
wiling to sell one of or two boards from that  Alchemist or how much for the full miner with 8 working boards ? .....

I live in the US so i know the shipping will be to much, just wondering how much one goes these days .. the boards I am interested in with no heat sinks. the shipping won't be to bad with boards only ...

Quote
Will list more if there is intereset

You got any working Alchemist or Mat boards no heat sink , i have heat sinks, my only requirement is they have to hash.

I'll pay a 100 US a board cash or coins even shipping if needed ..

i know you know, i know how to hook them up to any pi Smiley ...
