Hey guys, if we're talking about profitability, do lottery tickets count too?
My X11 cudarig of 6.66MH/s (I once started with a 666kh/s scrypt rig Cheesy) gives me a ticket/day to win the knc miner at blackcoinpool. It might be worth the shot if you have some spare hashes Wink (min 750kh/s X11)
What kind of X11 hashrate are you achieving per 750 Ti if you don't mind me asking?
1642  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Video Guide: How to make your own bitcoin mining pool on: May 29, 2014, 01:13:24 PM
I'll definitely be checking out your videos soon, I've wanted to set up a pool for awhile now, but just a local one to see how it would all work out.
1643  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Custom Built Mining Shed on: May 29, 2014, 01:10:01 PM
Awesome farm! I was thinking about setting one up for a couple of GPU rigs but nothing on the scale of what you're doing. I love the wifi controlled lightbulb, that's a really good idea.

Have you run into any issues with the miners since setting them up there?
1644  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New Bitcoin calculator, now support alternative coins on: May 29, 2014, 01:06:59 PM
Nice calculator! I love the graphs it gives you, that's a nice feature.
1645  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can someone tell me how much juice this thing uses on: May 29, 2014, 01:04:28 PM
If you really want to buy one, I'd recommend checking out used ones for sale here, or on eBay. I wouldn't buy directly from BFL.

But if you want to pay the $150 used for it or whatever it is, you could always just double your investment and buy an Antminer S1 - much better miners IMO.

Time to update the main post? Vardiff is crossed off as something the pool offers, but it's offered now. Good to see reject rates dropping too! Smiley
1647  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The best BTC Pool ? / Domain Sell on: May 23, 2014, 09:57:32 PM
I personally use Slush's Pool ( http://mining.bitcoin.cz ) just because of the fact that it's the original bitcoin mining pool and has been around for forever.

I'd say anything except GHash.io - they always seem to be close to having around 50% of the network hashrate which isn't a good thing.

Sounds really cool, its cooling abilities are really good as well it appears.
1649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: May 22, 2014, 09:58:22 PM
I just set up my R9 290 today to fold fore CureCoin. I've folded lots before but never for CureCoin.

And what a day to start - I have a 33C outdoor temperature today so the room with the card is very warm.  Angry
1650  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S1 solo mining - is it working? on: May 22, 2014, 09:56:39 PM
Looks like it's working correctly.

On a side note, geez 3 blocks in 9 days with 1TH/s - that's insane luck! Let's hope it continues with solo mining. Smiley
1651  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Around $2000 to spend on: May 17, 2014, 01:56:32 PM
I agree, I recommend looking into buying bitcoin directly, and then trading alt-coins, to (hopefully) grow your BTC stash.
1652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Retail Pricing For Radeon R9 Graphics Cards Back To Normal on: May 16, 2014, 07:35:06 PM
On eBay the 290(x) is going for $275-$300 for the reference designs, what a decrease from a few months back. It's nice to see, especially if you're in the market for a new GPU.

But do you still get the warranty in the case the cards burn out prematurely? I would think if you buy them 2nd hand may not be able to send them back to AMD for warranty covered by whatever the original buyer had.
That's a good question, I know some brands go by serial numbers but I'm not sure about reference models.

I did 3 WU's in 10 hours for 25k points..... Used more power and generated more heat.... It's a great idea, but with 750's it's not worth it IMO.

I agree, the 750 Ti's aren't optimized yet by the F@H team which is really a shame, considering these cards have been out for a few months now and I'm guessing they would offer great PPD/watt considering their efficiency in mining as well as gaming.
1655  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: plexi case for ants... hoping it works... on: May 16, 2014, 01:23:21 PM
Nice wind tunnel type design, I think drilling out vent holes on the side would help with temperatures, and maybe drilling some out of the top as well - hot air rises so I don't see how it would have a negative impact on temperatures.

The time has finally come! If you pay for electricity in the US and are mining with a radeon GPU the cost of the electricity is greater than the value of the BTC youre receiving through this pool for most.  Its been a fun ride everyone.  The LTC hashrate has increased over 50% in the last 2 weeks(!!!) and is only going to continue to rise rapidly.  ASIC are here and are only going to get cheaper and more powerful.

However, the depressed BTC is actually a good thing.  There is much profit to be made by selling hardware and buying cheap BTC
Depends where you're located, electricty prices vary, anywhere from 2 cents per kW/hr to ~15 cents per kW/hr. Right now with power at 12 cents per kW/hr, I'm still making about $1 a day after power with my machines.
1657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LTC miner 88M in stock on: May 15, 2014, 01:35:50 PM
Got one running last 24 hours, but only getting 86.7 Mh/s.  Oh well!

this one smells strong of "sock puppet"
Exactly my thoughts.  Cheesy

I guess you guys don't believe these Asic exist.  Well they do, my buddy and I have one running right now In the US.  Bought it from Zoomhash and got it in 3 days from china.
No, I believe scrypt ASICs exist, I just wouldn't trust buying from somebody with 10 activity points and posts, and whose only method of contact is through Skype. No official email, or website. Also, no pictures, just "statistics" in his post.

Sounds very sketchy to me.
1658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: May 15, 2014, 02:10:22 AM
It's sad to see the averages are this low currently.. (Because of the decreasing value of Scrypt coins).. Do you guys think we will hit the 0.009 BTC / MH / D again someday? Like we did at the 19th of April.

Personally, I think the rewards keep decreasing (as more Scrypt ASICS are coming on the market; more hashrate..)
I'm hoping we can see the 0.01 BTC/MH/s per day days that we used to have a few months back.

Days like today aren't making it easy for me to pay off my miners. Sad

1660  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Are Exchanges Stealing from Miners? on: May 13, 2014, 09:58:45 PM
If one trader trades 50 times a day, which is nothing for a professional day trader, think of all that money being transferred on the exchange itself that should technically be transferred by the miners, not the exchange!!  We're being robbed out of thousands if not millions of dollars a day because the exchange is making the profit from the trades.

Self entitled much?  The transaction occurring off network aren't using your service, it isn't costing you anything.   Are people whpay by Visa stealing from you as well?  What about people who keep funds secured in cold wallets and don't move them?  Most people fund their brokerage or forex accounts by a single bank wire, are all those trades stealing from the banks?

Where do you get the idea that you have a right to profit?  Profit is earned.  If you want more transactions than encourage more adoption.  You aren't entitled to a specific level of profit or even the guarantee that you will profit at all.

I agree with Death, exchanges make things much easier for everyone, and much safer as well. Instant trading (you don't need to wait for block confirming), and no escrow is needed.

It's exactly like stock exchanges, except IMO bitcoin exchanges charge smaller fees (0.25-0.3% per trade) than stock exchanges.
