1667  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 15, 2013, 09:30:44 AM
Dividends are paid high and often because this is a mining company, which for many people is basically a substitute of buying themselves mining equipment.
I.e. see it less like a company, and more like a consortium: people who want to be mining but instead of doing it directly they delegate it somewhere else.

That said, I'm also skeptic to the whole "non-dividend company" idea: what would be the point of owing any share, then? What would give the shares their value? Why should I buy those shares, other than for speculation? (but why would I speculate on something which has no inherent value?)
I guess I miss something here.

that goes right to the core of the stock market in general. i mean, apple, google, etc... do they pay dividends? i don't believe so. so yea, it IS pure speculation.
1668  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 15, 2013, 09:24:54 AM
like i said, whatever you guys (mdude77, debitme, auseeker, whoever) work out between yourselves is on you guys at this stage. just show me verifiable agreements and i'll shift the numbers around.

You're going to need fans blowing on these puppies...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195004.msg2153513#msg2153513

i'm really hoping he meant without the heatsink on, or got the wrong thread entirely and meant the blades...

but hey, if not, no big deal to grab some fans, eh? ...though come to think of it my usual stores for doing so don't exist in this state... hmm.

I'm mostly with ya, but am pissed and disappointed that ~friedcat does not seem to be reliable and proficient as a counterpart.
This seems off-base, given friedcat and ASICMINER's history to-date.  They are the only Bitcoin company who are actively mining and shipping meaningful quantities of ASICs.  In the three previous Blade auctions, the blades were shipped within a day or two of payment.  Heck, one guy got his overnight.

Don't get me wrong, everyone is anxious, a lot of us have been burned by BFL/bASIC/Avalon, and the golden rule is "Trust No One."  That said, I don't see how anyone could look at ASICMINER's performance and call shenanigans.

Thats not the problem. The problem with ASICMINER is that they haven't lied about ship dates and taken money...

wait, what?
1672  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 15, 2013, 06:02:08 AM
I hope ASICMINER prospers but honestly I hope the share price dwindles when BFL ships to balance the difficulty lol, I wish i didn't sell my shares  Sad

i know that feel. bought 5 at ipo, some when they doubled about a month prior to the glbse collapse, then recently bought 1 at .9... really wish i had the lot still.
1673  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 15, 2013, 05:00:05 AM

edit: also, the order has been submitted.

Hell yes!  Hope you're feeling better.

my nose is doing a fair impression of Angel Falls, but oh well.

edit: also, the order has been submitted.

Fuck yeah ! Is it improper for me to admit that I am slightly aroused at this time ?

imagine how i feel. i got 429 bits of sexy asic coming!
1674  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 15, 2013, 04:38:07 AM
I said this earlier, and it's still true.

I'm interested in 2 at face value here, if anyone wants to back out or isn't able to meet their obligations.

M

Arklan/John

Mdude77 says that he is interested in my 7 units.  Could you please confirm with him that if I put my receiving address out here and he puts his sending address, that even if I dispute receiving the funds, that you will still be able to see that he sent them and change where the units are shipped too (for a small fee of course)?

If he is absolutely against such a solution, John would you be able to escrow this service.  He sends funds to address, Arklan switches shipping info, funds released to me. (assuming he will pay escrow fees since he doesnt like my first escrowless option)

i'm good with that, yes.

edit: also, the order has been submitted. refunds direct from john are no longer possible. but feel free to work things out among yourselves and i'll adjust who gets what.
1675  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 14, 2013, 11:24:44 PM
Hopefully we won't have too many refund requests...

Ah, the joys of group buys...

I for one never expected an outstanding ROI.  At 5 watts, even if difficulty were currently DOUBLE what it is now AND the profitability decline is at .61, you'd still pay back in less than 2 years.  Understood that's nothing CRAZY, but for me mining is really more about getting bitcoins outside of unreliable sketchy ass exchanges anyway.  Plus I help the network and it's a fun hobby.

Seriously, the chips are going to be available soon, and there are tons of group buys and DIY/Open Source PCB boards that will be available; serious miners should be following those way more closely.  This was (as I recall) more of a novelty item for most anyway.  Waiting a week is really not that big a deal.

i'm with ya. my father's long been in the stock market in a minor way, so i've talked about bitcoin to him a bit. the ROI info blows his mind. anything under 5 years is shocking to him...

i figure as long as they pay a little more then their electricity, they stay on. which is why my gpu is still chugging.
1676  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 14, 2013, 10:57:22 PM
Um how long is this gonna take to get the erupters?  Do we have an ETA?

i should have them in hand towards the end of next week, latest. so depending on the postal sevice, you should get em by approximately the end of the month.

the above are estimates.
1677  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 14, 2013, 10:28:47 PM
dang it, i hadn't seen your post tvbcof. a refund can be arranged as i siad, just pm me.

or work it out with oaxaca, if that suits you.

now, i'm going to go get an energy drink so i can at least be coherent enough to not miss posts!
1678  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 14, 2013, 10:23:52 PM
pardon quietness fellas, this cold is doing a nice litle loopdey loo on my brains.

if anyone wants to cancel their order and refund it, i don't see it a problem. pm me and john.

If that happens and you need someone to buy another 2-3 units, I will take them.

Feel better. I have the exact same thing going on right now, it sucks.

If arklan doesnt have a problem with this i wouldnt mine transfering over 3 units from my order to BlackLilac

that is after i receive BTC from him Smiley

fine with me. let me know.

Will this order be the first batch to go through, or was there a group buy that already went 300+ before us ?

Idk but its starting to look like by the time we get these units difficulty will be between 13 and 15 million. Good bye roi. Sad
How upsetting..
 :' (

i'm gonna do everything in my power to get these out the door as fast as i can guys, promise.
