1721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Solana failure resistant? on: March 05, 2023, 08:38:23 PM
Failure resistance in considered to be an important feature of the blockchain technology. Common knowledge says that a blockchain network doesn't rely on a central authority and doesn't have a single failure.

However, we observe blockchain-solutions which fail on a regular basis due to various reasons. The notorious example here is Solana.

What is wrong here? Is it true that blockchain networks are failure resistant?

Or, alternatively, is it true that we misclassify some blockchain-solutions and put a wrong label on a product? What is your opinion?

Nothing is failure resistant.  If something is claiming that it is I'd be weary and steer clear.  Just because their are possible holes or entries for exploit doesn't make something bad either.  I'm not completely up on Solana but have heard great things about the project.

For east I still think that Bucks and Celtics are way too better compared to everyone else. Sure the wins may not look like the difference is staggering, but it is actually much bigger than what it shows there. First of all Bucks missed Giannis and Kris for a long time, so that is one reason, and Celtics had a coaching change at the start of the season after a finals year so that was one of the reasons as well.

All in all I am guessing that the best thing to do right now is to wait and see how they will be during playoffs because during regular season it's obvious that they are one level above everyone else. This is for only east conference of course, there are some good teams coming from west too.

The Bucks are definitely on top and record says what it is but I think the Celtics have holes.  I don't like teams who are reliant on theor outside shooting.  Too many series to get through, a couple cold games and they get booted.  Will be an interesting game tonight Celtics vs knicks.  Knicks defense has been great as of late.  Might not have brunson which will be a huge loss for the Knicks.  East I think it's Bucks tier one.  Tier 2- Philly, Celtics, cavs and knicks.  Tier 3: Atlanta, Miami Toronto.  Then everyone else...yep including the Nets they will probably drop into the play in games.

In fact LeBron James is injured, and will be sidelined, this is terrible for the Lakers, as LJ is the team's guide.
But I saw on a website that LeBron James could play again, even though he was injured, he could participate in regular season games to help the Lakers.
LeBron does not need to undergo surgery, so most likely, he will be back soon, as his team really needs him.
Yes, it doesn't require any surgery as it's not that actually serious to undergo in any medical operation but his injury which is a tendon injury in his right foot is also a serious one. The Lakers will re-evaluate him again in the next 3 weeks and given that time frame, LeBron might not be back to finish the rest of the games in regular season.

Well, regarding the Lakers x Timberwolves game, it was extremely clear that AD is an excellent player, even though he was playing without LJ, he managed to play his basketball and help the team significantly.
Schroder wasn't able to score like in the previous games, but on the other hand, Schroder had 12 assists, most of which went to AD.

Look, I believe that without LJ the Lakers are unlikely to make the playoffs.
But for the team to get a seed, AD and especially the other players will have to play extremely well to fill the absence of LJ
Yes, AD is unstoppable, but the Lakers cannot rely too much on him, as that will only put him in an injury-prone situation again. Without LeBron, this team will not make it to the playoffs, but once he is back, I think there's still a chance, as they have been playing well so far since Westbrook got traded. It's just sad that LeBron has been out for a while.
I guess that is the predicament they are facing right now because if they rely heavily on AD, he might get injured in the long run and their efforts will be in vain even if they manage to qualify for the play-in. What they have to do is to divide the load, not that equally but just help AD from carrying the team and that means that they should step up their game.

Exactly surgery or not 3 weeks is a long time it's the last quarter of the season and that's a big chunk of it.  By the time he gets reevaluated it might be too far gone.  He's old for basketball too so any injury like this might be a nagging one.  I'd shut it down if I were him.  Focus on next year this squad ain't doing anything anyway
1724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 04, 2023, 10:13:48 PM
Despite scoring 38 points, Davis was unable to carry his team to victory. The Lakers really need LeBron; although they have won some games without him, their playoff chances might be at risk without consistency. It was a home game, so they were supposed to win with their home advantage, but they lacked energy, the ball movement seemed lost, and they relied too much on their big man AD."
So that's an interesting factor...
In the victory against OKC, most of the Lakers players scored, and they won the match without LJ and AD.

I have no doubt that in the game against the Timberwolves, AD would be the team's reference player, and indeed he was, AD scored 38 points, KAT was not playing, but Gobert played, in my view, AD played extremely well against the Timberwolves and mainly against Gobert.

I believe what happened in this last Lakers game was that the other players didn't perform relevantly to help the team to beat the Timberwolves.

Let's see if in the next games the Lakers can reverse these losses they had!
Tomorrow he will play against GSW and during the week against the Grizzlies

Lakers are toast.  With LeBron out they won't be able to sustain any kind of winning streak.  They are essentially a non factor whenever it comes to playoff scenerios.Lebron needs to split he doesn't have much time left and this Lakers team just isn't it.

Does the Falcons have the money to give Lamar a contract for 5 years that is fully guaranteed very much similar to Massage Watson's contract with the Browns?

Also, the article mentioned that it will also open a window for the superbowl for the Falcons if they can trade for Lamar? Is this real? I am shaking my head. The Dolphins might have a bigger window for the superbowl with Lamar, I reckon.
I am not so sure Lamar will be available as the Ravens can always put the exclusive franchise tag on him and if the negotiations fail he will still have to play for the Ravens, however if Lamar wants out he could follow the formula that Kirk Cousins used to get out from the Commanders and receive the tag on consecutive years and by the third year the tag becomes so expensive the Ravens will have to let him go and only receive compensatory picks instead of actually trading for him.

This is the only way I see Lamar opening a SB window for any team other than the Ravens, because if a trade has to take place for him to play at any other team then not only they will have to pay the huge salary of Lamar, severely limiting the option of bringing free agents, but a trade for him at minimum will entail 3 first round picks and this will limit the amount of talent which can be brought on the draft too.
I could see that happening too.  The problem is that franchise tag is so front heavy.  Who knows what happens but that's probably the best scenario for everyone.  Let's not ignore Lamar does get hurt and laying pit a $300 contract for a guy who can easily miss a quarter or half the games would wreck your squad.  That cap is tough and expensive quarterbacks tend to constrain teams to not being able to get people around them.  I'd steer clear if I was atlanta to be honest.

My next question is which team would be the most to give the risk to trade Lamar for the type of contract that he wants. A contract very much similar to Massage Watson. Also, which team has the money to give Lamar his contract?

The teams where I want to see Lamar go and that might also have the money are Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders. They also need a good quarterback.

There’s a few teams that need a quarterback and could afford Lamar, the Dolphins are not one of them. As much as I feel that Tua Tagovailoa needs to hang it up if he wants to have a functioning brain by the time he’s 45 years old, with the Dolphins recently announcing that they are open to resigning Tua, I just don’t think he’s going to leave the game like he should. The Raiders are absolutely a spot I could see him landing. Though I don’t know what their cap situation is like at the moment.

Correction: I stated Calvin Ridley plays for the Falcons, completely forgot he was traded to the Jaguars 🐆

Yeah there are tons of teams who would snag Lamar in a second.  If he is on the field he instantly makes your team a contender that's how good he is.  Where he ends up, no clue.  My bet is that he stays right in Baltimore.  Think vegas is gonna splash and get Rodgers then he can play with davante again lol.

Last I like Sacramento-5 at home.

Good luck tonight everyone.
1727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 04, 2023, 07:24:58 PM
Such progress in just one year is impressive, and it should be noted that it has been possible not only thanks to the efforts of the players but also the efforts of Mike Brown, who has been recently named the Western Conference Coach of the Month.

Actually, that's not a 1-year progress in the making for Sacramento Kings. The progress overall takes place over a decade. Smiley

The last time the Sacramento Kings established a winning percentage of over .500 is way back 2005-06 season and that's also the last time they make it to the playoffs. Just do the Math on how long they are not making the playoffs from 2006-07 until now. Although this season, that will be changed.

Sacramento Kings will surely be able to break the curse now and their home crowd will witness again the NBA playoffs.

It's fun when Sacramento is in the playoffs.  Back in the day with Peja, Bobby, etc when they were challenging the top the were fun to watch.  The crowd playoff crowds there were amazing.  Helped that they had Jason Williams who is still one of my favorite players to watch, never knew what that dude was gonna do.  Good mix of streetcars in his game.  Either way I will be rooting them to go far this year.  Tired of seeing the same old teams in it year in and year out.
1728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 04, 2023, 03:24:44 PM
The Phoenix Suns are now officially a very scary team after the game against Chicago and they just boost their chances to win the Finals this year. Devin Booker seems like he's getting back to his old self with Durant on their team as he now have more spaces to make shots. Just like what I've said before, It is impossible to double team Durant, Booker, CP3, and Ayton all at the same play.
I may not be rooting for them to win the championship, but I cant deny the fact how strong this team is. Does Chris Paul finally get his first ring this year? Let's see about that lol.

Yep, I need to see a Denver/Suns 7 game series that would be incredible.  Suns/Grizzlies would be good too.  But with the experience on that team I can't see them losing a 7 game series if all theor starters can stay off the injury list.

Knicks.....straight.....stunting on the nba.....talk about it.

Bulls…straight…..not stunting on the nba…let’s not talk about it lol

Nah I’ll bitch a little. At this point with them playing like such shit all season, and obviously clearly not having any legitimate shot at making any sort of run in the playoffs, it’s time to maybe trade some pieces and start losing. Would be amazing to someone pull another situation like we did with Derrick Rose and luck out in getting the number 1 pick again (would be something with the Bears and Bulls getting it).

They have the pieces to be good they just need to put it together.  If there is any year to get the number #1 pick it's the year.  Victor W is the real deal.  I usually don't like picking bigs early in the draft because they get injured a lot but I'd be all over Victor at the 1.  He is a franchise chasing pick.

I can't really say that I totally expected that outcome because at the back of my mind, it's hard to disregard that the Lakers are much more vulnerable in that game because there was no LeBron and Davis on the court to help them and lift the team whenever they needed it. But it shows that they can still manage well and the absence of both superstars gave Schroder a moment to gain another experience that will help him to be more confident during clutch time or intense games especially if they can participate in the play-in.
Yes, exactly!
Well, even though the Lakers aren't that far off OKC in the championship.

Now, if the Lakers manage to maintain a great consistency of victories with or without LJ and AD, that will be a good sign (which in my opinion this could happen).
The Lakers will do anything to get a seed in these playoffs!

Tomorrow they will play against the Timberwolves, it will be an interesting game to watch, as Minnesota is in a similar position to the Lakers in the championship, I have no doubt that this victory will be important for both teams

Man, I can say all the bottom teams in the West needs every win they could possible get for the remainder of the season, so every game is a very important game that someone who's vital for the team needs to play even with a minor injury. #4 down to #13 does not guarantee a playoff spot until the season is over. With less than 20 games remaining in the season, games will get interesting to watch.
I'm not so certain about the Lakers though if both LeBron and AD is out.

Yeah I actually don't remember a season where the log jam between 10 teams is literally a couple of games.  A good week brings you from out of the playin to hosting a playoff series lol.  Gonna make for a wild last week of basketball.  Can't wait for it.

In other news another huge game for the Knicks.  Mia.i is right behind them and another chance to clear some room away from the play in slots.  Love this time of year for basketball.  Between the last quarter of nba season and March madness for college there is something good on everyday.
1732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Who makes such predictions? on: March 03, 2023, 10:56:07 PM
We've all stumbled upon predictions for all kinds of coins, including Bitcoin, of course. Some may sound like they may happen in the future, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, or Polkadot, coins with actual potential. However, some are so exaggerated that they have no foundation to back up their claims. I recently got my hands on some BTTC (BitTorrent Coin). It has so many zeros after the decimal that I've lost count, and they are literally worth almost nothing. I was curious to see, though, what the community believed about its future.

The first website I stumbled upon claimed that BTTC had the potential to reach $30 by 2050. Firstly, how can a coin worth $0.000000866 as we speak rise so much in value? It currently has a market cap of over $800.000.000. If the price were to double, it'd have a market cap of $1.6 billion. That's already extravagant and it'd still be worth close to nothing, nonsense.

Secondly, how and why is someone making predictions 30 years from now? The world might have ended by then. On what data is someone making such a prediction? Fortunately, other websites I found didn't have such extreme forecasts, but some still did, over the moon. For most coins out there, plenty of similar examples can also be found. Do you believe that they're based on any actual statistics and/or considering the coin's potential, are they purely fictional?

P.S I'm not implying that BTT could possibly reach $30; I'd be a multibillionaire if that were the case. It's just a simple example of how many exaggerated forecasts are out there.

Website n.1: https://telegaon.com/bittorrent-coin-price-prediction-2021-2022-2025-2030/
Website n.2: https://www.cryptonewsz.com/forecast/bittorrent-price-prediction/ A more plausible prediction

Crypto predictions are hilarious.  There are a zillion of them and the ones thelat coincidentally hit one boasts about being able to predict the crypto market.  This is one market that is dam near impossible to nail because there are so many singular factors that can alter a price trejection.  They are rediculous and just leave it as that, comedy.
1733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In the best interest of investors, Bounties shouldn't be paid in Tokens on: March 03, 2023, 09:17:40 PM
I don't know who needs to hear this but after years of being a bounty hunter and keeping a close eye on how bounties are conducted, it's safe to say most projects make the biggest mistake of paying bounty hunters using their native tokens, why do I say so, well bounty hunters don't share the long term foresight as the project to the point of being a hodler to grow with the company but rather see their bounty payment as a service and will sell the tokens for less to get whatever money they can because they owe nobody anything.Of course, for the project to pay using the tokens is cost cutting but if the project is truly slated for the future, paying using non-tokens is a good signal for a strong project.

Going forward in the best interest of investors and the project itself, hope to see "more" bounties being paid with established coins in this industry.

What do you guys think?

They do that because sending out their own "free" tokens doesn't cost them a cent and provides some possible interest in their project.  Most everyone of them are not needed or just a straight up scam so why would the projects owners use "real" value in providing to bounties?  They all just want to cash in.  That's the trick they are useless.  Steer clear amd you don't have to worry about any of that crap.

It is a little bit of a shame that Westbrook’s impact is now considered negative on the Clippers while his departures has also had a winning effect on the Lakers. Russell has been playing great for the Clippers too. I think it’s time to admit his athletic style of play is no longer possible at a high level due to his age. I suspect the end of his career isn’t going to be pretty.

You should've watched how they are defending him now. Leaving him completely open at 3point range(since he shoots fairly low percentage) and just crowd the paint. With lower confidence, he's not even shooting the ball for 3 pt range, he is just trying to drive in and hopefully create space for an open teammate. It's kinda sad to see what has come of Westbrook, all I ever known of him is as "Westbeast" if you still go through his highlights, it still looks freakishly athletic. Which is no longer possible like it used to be. It kinda feels like how Rose faded away but without the injuries on Westbrook's case. It's the case with most athletic players though. You have to learn to shoot when your athleticism isn't the same or be chucked out of the league. Vince Carter comes to mind, who transitioned fairly well.

It's a good point there is a life span to his style of play.  He still has plenty in the tank but he isn't going to transition into a long range shooter he is and always has been a slasher.  I loved his game in his prime.  His driving to the paint and just dunking on anyone was great to watch.  In his prime he was a triple double machine and was unguardable.  I'm hoping the Clippers works out for him.  Dude always played hard.

Good lineup tonight hitching onto 4 games tonight.  Gonna ride with everyone else and:

Take Suns-3.5 on the road against the Bulls.  Until proven wrong I'm riding them

Knicks -3.5 on road against heat.  Tough game but knicks have been bullying people led by the EC player of the month jalen brunson.  Knicks stole him from Dallas.

Portland +8 on the road against the Hawks.  Dame almost getting double digits I will take my chances.

And gimme the Celtics-11 against the Nets.  Nets are in a tailspin and it won't stop vs Celtics.

Good luck tonight everyone!
1736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 02, 2023, 09:31:06 PM
When Durant and Booker play together, the Suns can win the match very easily. Against the Hornets, I think they were pretty good. It's just that Durant's injury would be pretty bad for the team, that's what scares me. If he doesn't lose his health, the Suns could have a huge success in the playoffs this year.
Durant has been a pretty good basketball player for this team. I hope they get used to the team soon and they can play better together

That will be a big problem if that happens because the Suns have no longer good bench players left to substitute whenever they need some because the Suns traded them just to acquire KD to their roster. We all know that KD's presence will certainly enhance the teams chance but at this rate, the team might be seeing a replay of what happened to themselves in the recent playoffs if ever KD will get sidelined again because of an injury during the playoffs.

But if KD will be fortunate enough to finish the whole post-season without any harm, I'm sure that the Suns will reach much further and let's expect that. What we saw in the game earlier was just a teaser, that was the Suns who are still adjusting and when they find the rhythm which I'm positive they will, the league better be prepared.

I mean you can say that about any teams superstar.  If giannis goes down then yeah they will get booted, embid, jokic ,etc.  That's why Suns traded who they did for him.  If he goes down then yeah it will be rough for the sums just like if any teams superstar goes down for a significant time.
1737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 02, 2023, 12:26:29 PM
KD had a wonderful debut game with the Suns. He was unstoppable and could shoot from anywhere on the floor. With even a little opening, his accuracy is really high. I think the Suns will be a tough team in the playoffs. Even if they're not the favorites to win the championship, I would certainly bet on them if they have attractive odds.

The flow of basketball is very easy with Durant on the floor, which makes them unpredictable. Now, they have Durant and Booker, and of course CP3 can also score.
Classic Kevin Durant. The Phoenix Suns will be one of the teams that is difficult to defeat from now on. Even KD takes a rest, Booker will be there, then they have Warren, CP3, and Ayton. He just need someone who could space the floor more and let him do his isolation game. A very big catch by the Suns here and now they are on the discussions of a championship contender once again.
Brooklyn Nets on the other hand, (where KD came from) is unable to win another game after receiving Bridges and Johnson. 1 win in 7 games. It must be hard for them to create chemistry.

Yeah, it was the old and classic KD, shooting mid range even if someone is in front of him. And then Booker taking over the game and it was CP3 play making, dictating the tempo, Ayton too with another great rebounding night.

As for the Nets, it was always close, but then they really like melting in the 4th quarter. Maybe they got tired or something or their defense is not holding up. Unless Bridges is now on a break out as when he was transferred to the Nets, he has a good scoring average and could be potentially the new face of the Nets together with Spencer Dinwiddie and Cam Thomas.

I don't know what Nets game you were watching.  Knicks were up 20 points in the 1st quarter and were up by 24 at half.  It never got close.  Knicks scored 81 points in the first half.  It was a wire to wire blowout.  There was no 4th quarter meltdown it was just the Knicks dominating end to end.
1738  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 02, 2023, 03:26:22 AM
Knicks just stunting on the NBA right now.  They got a good rhythm.  Scored 81 in the first half tonight's.  Nets aren't a good team but regardless these games are encouraging.  I know there isn't many teams that are glad to see them on the schedule. 2 big away games against Miami and Boston again coming up.  Then a 4 game west coast swing.  Pivotal 2 weeks here.
1739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 02, 2023, 12:20:16 AM
Is everyone in this thread really this concerned with the Lakers?  It does really sound like a Lakers fan board so let's switch it up eh...

How bout them NY Knicks!!!  No honestly this is another big game for them.  With the Nets right behind them in the standings they need to spend the last 20 games getting some space between them and the teams right behind them to lock in the 4/5 spot.  Don't really care which one since the Knicks are actually almost better on the road then they are at home...dare I say they sneak into the 3 hole?  Knicks win tonight and Miami beats Philly it almost gets into range.

Gonna be a good last quarter of the year finally as a Knicks fan Smiley
I'm curious to see how the Kevin Durant debut goes tonight for the Phoenix sun's.

Lakers are just in the news lately, that's why alot talk about em.

I know I get it the Lakers have worldwide appeal to so they get the prettiest girl in the room treatment.  I can't wait to watch Durant on the Suns either.  Think this is the first time he has played with an elite true pass first point guard.  He has had kyrie, Westbrook and steph as his point guards.  If dude stays on the court I'm throwing some dockets on them to win it all.

I. Quickley 10+ points / I. Quickley 1+ 3pts / Knicks ML @1.88

It would be an understatement to say that the Knicks' last couple of games has gone extremely well. They are coming off an impressive win over the Celtics, an almost perfect month of February, and a six-game winning streak that is second only to the Bucks' 15. With three straight losses and being on back-to-back games tonight, i don't see the Nets doing much, so i'm picking the Knicks to win.
I had Quickley in a parlay with Randle against Boston, taking him at 10 points and at least 1 3pt again. He's seen double-digit scoring in each of his /L7 and has put up 1+ 3pt in 7/L7 @43% shooting.

I like that parlay all day everyday.  IQ is going to get a lot of run in this game, his last couple weeks he has been on fire.  Thibs is using him as a true 6th man.  Just need the Knicks to come through with the win.  What's the odds on that parlay you got?
